  1. My all time favorite was a black jig with brown pork frog or vice versa . Had my best jig day on a black jig with black /chartreuse pincer Larew Salt Craw . Black and chartreuse is a killer color in early spring time dirty water .
  2. Thats why I never use split shots , for fear of damaging my line . Great tip .
  3. They changed the angler format . Now when you click on an angler it doesnt go to past results . I liked that feature . Hope its just temporary .
  4. Looks like Bama Bug .
  5. Little green floating stuff that blows around the lake . I fished a pond that was completely covered in it and big bass would blast through it to get a weightless worm twitched on top of it .
  6. I have caught lots of bass in that stuff , many big ones . Weightless soft plastics , toads , fogs and Zman PopShadz are the lures I use .
  7. I'm not an avid troller but there are times where I will follow the contours with a crankbait . When first started doing it , I let out lots of line . When following the contour with a lot of line let out , half the time the bait was not tracking at the correct depth when zig zagging trying to follow the contour . Also every time the lure snagged , I had to back track a long ways to get to the lure . Eventually I started trolling with just a cast length of line . That allowed me to keep the lure in contact with the depth targeted much better , it also wasnt near the hassle when snagged. I was more successful this way because it is much more manageable . When trolling cranks , do you guys let a lot of line out or short line it like me ?
  8. I fished places like that . If you absolutely have to fish a jig might try a jig and grub . I try to keep lures off the bottom and out of that stuff .
  9. Yep . I would like to see it reintroduced with the hook hangers spread apart more .
  10. Me too . I love cranks but there are to many places they dont do well in . I dont use a specialized crankbait rod . They are not necessary for a recreational angler . I use a 7 foot mh for most cranks . Sometimes I'll use a 7 foot hvy for big deep diving lures and a 6'6" med for smaller cranks . I only carry 6 or 7 rods so they all perform double duty .
  11. I fished with an uncle a lot and it was the opposite . He fished excruciatingly slow . Even when I was using a slow bait like a worm ,he could not keep up . He hardly ever caught fish . He liked to say "Bill Dance says to always use the lightest weight you can get away with " LOL. It was my boat , I just ignored him and fished. Everybody else I fish with there is no problem .
  12. There are lots of different types of cover and structure .Lets just take a brush pile for example . A spinnerbait , buzzbait , texas rigs and jigs are my main lures . They work perform well in brush .
  13. Depends on what I'm fishing . Steep banks , flat banks , coves , points , brush , riprap , weeds ... They all get fished differently .
  14. I never had a preference . I have the bullet head mold and use those over 90 percent of the time .
  15. I have a Browning travel rod and reel that I keep under the back set of my truck .
  16. I double down on cover and structure when the fishing is tough and use lures that work well in the cover or structure targeted . Throwing everything is what I use to do and it rarely paid off .
  17. I select 12 lb Big Game over 15 because its a little more manageable and I cast it a little better . Over the course of a year I think I get few more bites . I can only remember one breakoff the past two years . It was a big fish in brush . The line broke so easily that I suspect there was a bad spot in it . I saw the bass jump later on , trying to dislodge the bait . It was a good one .
  18. Is this possible?
  19. PBuckley63 is 9th overall . Keep it going man .
  20. I love them . My Dad was a really good artist but he was also big and tough so he was kind of ashamed of being a talented drawer . He was good enough to make a profession of it .
  21. To me finesse fishing is when bass cant be caught on heavier gear , so a switch is made to light line and lures and I still cant catch them .
