Schrodinger's bass

Caught about 70 today . Worm and Frog mostly . These were my top two caught on a frog . A couple of four lbers .

Cool looking vintage lure .

Great lures . I dont know about that Silver sides though . It might be a salt water lure .

I would spool the 7 footer with 17 lb trilene xl amd the othet two with 12 lb Big Game .

You can do a lot with those three rods . the 7 footer would be my wormin rod . The other two will have to fish everything else . The mh for slightly heavier lures than the med . You can throw spinnerbaits , chatterbaits , buzzbaits , cranks... on both rods . The mh might be best for 1/2 ounce lure , the med for 1/4 . You will have to figure that out for yourself . Learn how to under hand toss your baits accurately to visible cover , so matching weight to the rod is recommended .

The Dredgers will reach advertised depth with 12 lb test . A 25.5 will easily hit 19 foot . As far as chrome goes , I have never tried that .

I usually go for shad or chartreuse when targeting 15 to 25 foot depths . Fire Tiger has performed well .

Yum Dinger, Texas rigged with a 5/16th oz weight .7 foot hvy action rod .17 lb test Trilene xl in clear blue flourescent . 3.0 or 4.0 VMC offset hook . June bug and Bama Bug are the only colors I carry . Thats my bread and butter setup to present a lure properly to shallow bass in thick cover The VMC hooks now have that stupid 3 degrees offset bend that is useless . I straighten it out with pliers , no problem .

I havent used it yet except for around the house but the Piscifun seems to be a more expesive scale than the Rapala , for the same price .

Man , this is tough to go through .Sounds like my Dad . He had Lewy Bodies dementia . Look it up . Its misdiagnosed much of the time .

I learned to cast with an Ambassador 5000 . The new ones ,even cheap ones , are light years ahead . You will catch on easily enough . The release point will be different than on your spinning outfit . Take your time , use plenty of brake and release earlier . It wont be long you will be using less brakes, a looser spool and bombing cast out there . There will be a sweet spot on your rod that will cast a particular weight lure best . Find it and stick with it .

It has happenned to everyone I suppose . I imagine he knew exactly what he was doing and you were trying to figure it out . Inconspicuous details can make a difference .

I try not to have preconceived ideas on how baits should be fished . Several times I have come up with something on my own only to read or hear about it later on .

I had the Rapala High contrast and it worked well until the bottom pin came unscrewed . When I disassembled it and put it back together , It didnt work . I saved the lip grip and put it on a set of cheap luggage scales , its probably just as good except no memory . I like to keep track of my five biggest bass in a day , just for fun .I ordered a Piscifun scale and havent had a chance to use it yet . Its pretty big , I cant slip it in a pocket like the Rapala on the luggage scales . I want to know if I have a four , or five , or six or seven . I just want to know and suck at guessing .

I had a reel making all sorts of noise . I took it apart and found a long human hair all wrapped up inside . ?

Personally , I cant justify purchasing a fleet of expensive reels .

12 to 17 lb test . I dont fish a C-rig in heavy cover , so dont need heavy test . I dont have a dedicated Carolina rod so just use either my worm rod which is 7 foot hvy with 17 lb test . or a 7 foot mh with lighter line . If using 17 lb test or 15 lb test I go with a 12 lb leader .

So you fished it like floating minnow baits ?

I went four for six this morning . The two misses I had , those fish were caught on the next cast . Unheard of in my frog experience . I may never fish a toad again . I'm lucky to have a 25 percent landing ratio with a solid body toad . .

I like to night fish on main lake flats and points where casting accuracy isnt that important .
