Yes. I made mention of polymer via my Glock pistol statement earlier in this thread.. I’d rather assume everyone knows that Glock frames and stock sights are a polymer material. My longest serving and best serving reel was a circa 80’s Quantum baitcaster, it was graphite framed w graphite side plates and had brass gears and pinion. Magnetic cast control. I stuck tarpon, rays, sand sharks, bluefish, and largemouth bass to 11.2 pounds. It never broke, flexed or caused excessive wear on a gear set. The reel was also made in South Korea. As far as the Tatula reel is concerned, I’ll wait till it hits the streets and see if Daiwa has decided to sink one of its flagship lines of baitcasting reel or if they have a surprise for us. Who knows, the naysayers might be right about Daiwa trying to kill off the brand.

I don’t believe Daiwa is setting itself up for failure here. Carbon products have been replacing aluminum in many things and people/users all claim the same downsides with a change of material such as carbon aircraft, bike frames, bike components,bike rims fiberglass replaced steel in rods then graphite rods steadily replaced glass.. Who knows with this reel until it hits the streets, I don’t have these issues with my CI4+ reels, my Vanford reels and they’re all carbon. Once upon a time I dumped Daiwa over the Twing, turns out Daiwa got it right and I’m back to using predominantly Daiwa baitcasters now. (All Shimano spinning though) we will see in a little while if it’s a bad material choice as you imply or if Daiwa has another surprise for us.

That’s summer time Florida fishing for sure, honestly it sounds like a statement I would make circa 80’s except I’d replace Orange lake w Lochloosa. (My personal favorite) I'd say you’re getting it done, to make things a little spicy, buy some golden shiners and enjoy yourself..

Doug Hannon believed in the tables and also in the fact that it's natures clock.. as in grass shrimp, crawfish, insects of all types and egg laying behavior for LMB and all other types of fishes.. I realize this doesn’t answer your question but I firmly believe the tables are significant in understanding. Tides are yet another example, incoming, outgoing etc. At any rate it’s a DeepDive for sure. Happy learning 😉 @bulldog1935 has good understanding of the tidal impacts as it concerns saltwater, intercostal waterways etc..

Haha, I lived there in the 80’s, I’ve got no regrets. But it was rather wild, at least on the west side. I moved about the state fairly easily as you know. My favorite lake was Lochloosa, do you remember when Wade Boggs bought the fish camp there? His father ran it and was a great Man to BS with, he weighed my 11.2 caught out of the Lake. Obviously this was before the sink holes that pretty much destroyed the lake. Nonetheless, great memories. After that I began to saltwater fish and that is probably where my heart is with LMB a very close second..

Absolutely. Both on reels and in one case, rods.. there is some free flowing information on here and at least in my case has proven to be very expensive.. 🤪😁😂

Very interesting, however I saw several large females basking in the sunlight in about a foot of water. 6 to be exact. (February) There was a tiny finger off the main river, I moved off the river into this and you could see the fish camp! Beds were several and males were already on them defending against blue crabs. I got a good chuckle out of that. I never was able to get those fish to take my bubba lizard, by Gilraker. But I was incredibly fortunate to see this, but then again, that was true during my 6 years living in the area. Didn’t Ronnie’s wife have a restaurant in Jax? I’m certain I’ve ate there at one time.. I lived on the west side and ended up in Green Cove springs. Jacksonville was a trip, I loved being there.

Kunnan use to make those shorter than typical rods, complete with the rubberized pistol grips by Fuji and the guides were made with a plastic outer ring often times a green color. I bought three in about 94 at a bait shop for 5$ apiece. Gave them to my nephews. FWIW, I never used them, not ever. Rods and reels have come a long way since then. Also, I’ve wade fished the St. John’s river at Whiteys fish camp, I was young and cautious but without fear. Same in the Osceola forest, but that forest was full of danger.. no doubt. About 85-89

If the line broke, how can you determine your knot was fine? Sounds to me like you could invest in a better quality reel which will give you better performance all the way around. Braid can be cut easily and it’s possible that fish was digging for cover. It happens.

I’ve used the steel bell sinkers and can attest they also will rust fairly quickly. I use BPS punch style tungsten up to 3/8 and tungsten Neko off Tacklewarehouse, can’t remember the brand it’s JDM. Also some stuff off Amazon that is excellent quality.

Those would be killer on bull redfish in the GOA.. swap out the trebles for single hooks. Apparently they’re pretty killer for multi species. Thanks for the pics..

No doubt that a basic Texas Rigged worm has accounted for more fish that I can recall. Curly tail or ribbon. I fully embraced Doug Hannon and his magnificent work and the knowledge he shared. Skinny water and using Rapala top water baits w hooks rubber banded up to help with not fouling the bait. Its also an excellent presentation I use Spro because they throw better and are tougher. I also swear by a tube bait, I prefer to open hook them on a proper hard bottom and they just work. Tubes are a very close second for me.. Rattle traps. Love to burn these and they are my #2 . I burn them along edges of ANY type of fresh vegetation, the strikes are decisive. Crankbaits are # 3. Rip rap and crankbaits.. always yield fish, seems there are always fish in and around rip rap looking for crawfish, I bang them hard against the rocks and that is a calling card to LMB. You’re gonna break some baits but I’m always aware and excepting of that. Jigs n pigs work well here and I’ve stuck some very nice LMB doing it, but line damage and snagged up jigs are often, this can be frustrating, I’ve had some heartbreaking break offs doing this. My favorite is flipping in Hydrilla , it’s just fun and rewarding. With states killing it off it’s harder to find now than ever. All of the aforementioned presentations I have no doubts to the effectiveness of. Now for the no confidence bait presentation. The God forsaken A-Rig. no way, no how 😂 Finally, I love this sport, and as much as I love LMB fishing I’d rather saltwater fish any day of the week and twice on Sunday. Salt is where it’s at. I go back a long way with Bass fishing, so I do love it and it’s obvious a lot of other folks do too. Enjoy it, no matter what you throw..

I use PLine CXX in 6 pound yellow. It’s really good at 1st light and approaching darkness. Casting it is like a tracer, you can really track your cast. It’s easy to manage on spinning or casting. CX Pline in clear blue in 4-6 a very soft line and is easily controlled on spinning. Most of my gear I’m running Yozuri Hybrid lines up to 25. A couple are spooled w Daiwa Samurai FC. I still have 1 1600yd spool of Triple Fish camo line, it’s a solid line with a trio of color including a clear-blue florescent strip.

Yea I’m not paying 16-20 dollars for a bait then changing snaps etc. It's ridiculous that manufacturers cannot even get this one tiny element correct. Anyway that’s just my opinion.
