  1. That's my problem too. Lake is still choked with weeds. Once they die off my jerkbait action will begin. By that time the big girls will be feeding heavily for the oncoming winter.
  2. Temps around here as suppose to rise for the next week so no jerkbaits for me yet. But hopefully the temps will drop and I can go back to yanking on tanks.
  3. After the KC/Den game last night I got to say Mahomes is an incredible QB. The lefthanded toss was unbelievable. It would be hard to say they aren't the best team in the NFL right now. The next 2 games for KC are Jacksonville and the Patriots. Both will be tests of their coaches ability to out plan the other team.
  4. BTW Thanks @TnRiver46. I tried Terro and it killed all the ants. I was spraying the boat with Raid Ant Killer for months and they keep coming back. Just a one ounce bottle of that Terro did the trick. Haven't seen an ant in my boat since.
  5. Float and fish means your boat can float on the water and you can fish the water but you can not anchor or in any way attach your boat to the bottom of the lake. You can troll through or run your motor, if legal, but can't anchor.
  6. I learned a long time ago not to burn bridges. It only makes it tougher to cross them again. I think most of the BASS anglers are feeling a bit apprehensive about the jump so they are being cautious. Besides, it doesn't make a good impression on the next employer to bash the previous employer. It lets them know what is in store for them if you leave.
  7. Yes I believe you can. Property rights do not extend beyond the shoreline. There are only a few states that have laws that extend property lines into the water. As long as you don't get out of your boat and onto dry land you should be ok.
  8. You are living the dream. Redfish and sea trout are on my bucket list of fish.
  9. @OCdockskipper all good points and I've wondered about them myself especially about the longevity of MLF. On some points only time will tell. I agree that in a couple of years we will have a new crop of elite anglers in BASS. Its the way things have always been. One thing I will say is that I believe sponsors will be happy if the show does well in the ratings. It like any sporting event. If the ratings are high sponsors will feel they are getting good return for their investment. I too have attended BASS launches and weigh-ins here in the northeast and will probably go to the tourney in Cayuga, NY in 2019 again. In the northeastern part of the US bass fishing events aren't the draw they are in the south. The BASS tourney in Philly was not a success and the upstate NY event wasn't big by any means. The tv-friendly format would be better in those markets. Just my opinions.
  10. No need when we have the internet.
  11. So the pros that are leaving will be fishing the 2019 Classic or FWC but not the rest of the season? Doesn't sound fair to me. Either they are in or out. I'm not taking a side or saying they are right or wrong for leaving or staying with BASS but to show up for one tournament and then go to another league is just wrong, if indeed this is the case.
  12. Its going to be interesting to see the line up for the BASS Classic.
  13. All I truly know is its a good time to be a amateur bass angler looking to move to the pros.
  14. Its on his facebook page.
  15. Still not seeing that one name we are all wondering about. If KVD doesn't jump he'll have a big career in BASS. I can see him winning 5 plus tourneys.
  16. Having dealt with shipping companies for over a decade I can tell you I will never buy a rod online. I've seen first hand what these companies do to packages. Its barbaric. And the complaints go nowhere. Nothing is ever done about it. The company I worked for would routinely get complaints from our customers about the shape of packages received by UPS/Fedex/USPS and the poor lady who was a customer rep would try to calm them down but it was a daily grind for her. She once had to take a month off because of the stress. Fedex once destroyed a $5000 brass roller we sent out by putting a gouge in it across the length of the roller. It was crated in wood and something must have fell on top of it and smashed the crate top into tiny pieces. It was a mess.
  17. I still go to BPS/Cabela's but not as much as I use to. To me its fun wandering through the aisles looking at all the fishing gear. Most times I don't buy a thing but it keeps me sane in the winter. A friend of mine swears by the Kermy soft body topwater frog. I've never caught a fish on the one I have.

I've done this so many times its ridiculous. You ask yourself if what you have is really worth waiting until the lady in the front of the line gets her check book out, writes the date, changes the date cause the first time it was wrong, has a chat with the cashier, tells the cashier she wants the items in the bag separated, the cashier has to call over another employee to help her with the check, both cashier and other employee call over manager to help with check, manager has to call someone who knows how to run check through machine and lady realizes that she didn't sign the check. Half way through that garbage I'm dumping everything I had in my cart onto a nearby shelf, abandoning the cart and walking out with an angry and confused look on my face.
  19. I have a nephew that was taken to S. Florida by a friend to fish for snake heads. The lures his friend used was basically a homemade topwater. He had cut off pieces of a old broom handle and drilled through the center and up to the center in two places, did some minor sanding and attached heavy hooks. Because snake heads do some much damage to lures they figured why bother buying new, factory made lures.
  20. As a righty who started out using a left hand reel but switched to right, then went back to left I can tell you a left hand reel is easier for me, more comfortable for me and allows me to quickly start retrieving baits like buzz baits. I can still use a right hand reel but prefer a lefty. It also means more powerful hook sets because I'm using my dominant hand.
  21. Cool. Any idea who makes it?
  22. I still don't believe Glenn even exists. I've never actually seen him in person, only grainy video. People have searched for him everywhere and only found footprints. He's just a hoax. Your pal, Bigfeets
  23. Yup. You don't get the action from soft plastics like swimbaits and soft jerkbaits.
  24. I can tell you what I use. If there is fog on the water I toss a topwater, mostly a Heddon Torpedo. The buzz is something smallies can't stand and hit it aggressively. When the fog burns off I throw a jerkbait. Could be a hard plastic jerkbait like a Rapala Husky Jerk but for me nothing beats a Zoom Fluke or some version of it. Because this time of year most of the weeds have died you can use it with an exposed hook, making it easier to hook up with the actively feeding smallies.
