  1. @Way north bass guy I've got some signs of spring from my own area.
  2. Go bald...low maintenance and reduces drag when you need a few extra seconds on the water.
  3. I've only got a canoe but here is my list of stupid things I've done. Forgot paddles. Forgot pfd. Had a friend's cooler fly out the back of my truck. Forgot key to lock where I keep my canoe at the lake. Launched canoe, paddled out then realized my rods, reels and tackle box were still on shore. Got my shoe stuck in mud trying to launch my canoe. I think it may still be there.

I use "paint" as well. Easy to resize any pic.
  5. You should stay away from their lake! Swan Lake...get it
  6. I've had them try and sneak up on me. I just turn around and yell and they back off. Our state parks are literally infested with them. Some much so that many parks have had to close their swimming areas at least once a season because of goose fecal matter contaminating the water. I've heard of state parks hiring guys with dogs to keep the geese from taking over the place. I really think extended seasons and higher bag limits are needed to control the population.
  7. Don't forget the old stand-by Snagless Sally.
  8. @S. Doolittle You gotta tell us what happened. Is your friend all right? Did he hit something?
  9. Way to start out on the forum. Congrats on the trophy.
  10. Boat crowding is annoying but nothing to ruin my day over. What concerns me is cursing. I understand the occasional launch of a word or two but when I hear young adults cursing up a storm, with every other word being a cuss word and I look around at the young kids within ear shot, that bothers me the most. Maybe I'm just getting old but I think when you are out in the public, even if its on the water, you should act like you are in public. Not sitting on your sofa, watching a ball game. I'd hate to think of what my dad would think of me if I talked like that in front of him.
  11. Only for the brave or stupid.

Googled it and it kinda looks like an old luhr Jensen bait the way it bulges out at the sides. Can't remember the name exactly.
  13. Last year Lew's speed spool LP really impressed me. So much so that this year I bought another one. Can't wait to try it out. They have good quality for an inexpensive ($70) price.

Good to hear Mike. That prep will give your plumbing a workout.
  15. Those are so cool looking.
  16. Cool jigs. The colors are great.
  17. This weekends tournament was real close. Lots of changes at the end. Only a couple of pounds marked the last place from the 4th place cut. Fairclothe and Poche were good examples of how fortunes can change in just a few minutes in this format. Exciting to the end.
  18. @Wurming67 I know its frustrating at times but you did the right thing by not saying anything to the boater. Confrontations can these days be very dangerous. Its not worth it to try and teach people a lesson they don't want to learn. Its better to let it go and don't let it ruin your day on the water.

Soo....how did it go? Do you feel 10 pounds lighter?

Sad to see he is gone. His shows on the history channel were always fun to watch.
  21. There really isn't a bad time to throw swim jigs. The lake I fish has mostly minnows for forage and they will hit a swim jig better than a spinner bait. For trailers I mostly go with rage menace or a swim bait of some variety. As far as cover, the only cover I have in my lake is heavy weeds so throw them around edges. I try to keep them light, no more than 3/8 oz, sometimes 1/4 if I'm fishing shallow because the trailer adds weight. The name of the jig doesn't matter as much as where the eye of the jig is. I like the eye to be forward of the jig like in A-Jay's pics but in honesty, any jig could be a swim jig. No hard and fast rules really.
  22. That is huge. A "once-in-a-lifetime" fish. And look at the little grub he caught it on.
  23. Couple hours of fishing gave me this nice 2 1/2 pounder.
  24. Much like rabbit's feet, the deer carcass is only lucky to you, not the deer.
  25. Bravo.... Keep enjoying your new hobby/addiction.
