  1. I agree with the comments above me. I don't like my rod tip flexing while working jigs. I'd probablt like how stout your veracity is...helps to combat line stretch.
  2. Do you think Doyo has the capability to make a better reel for other manufacturers than the Doyo branded reels? Kenmore washing machines were rated higher than the comparable Whirlpool, and we know Whirlpool made the Kenmore's.
  3. Me either. I love my '16 zillions, and I heard a couple people comment on the brake dial moving during use. Not mine. I'm ordering my Christmas rods on Friday from JDM Tackle Haven. '21 Poison Glorious 7'H, and a Megabass p5 Kasumi 611 (f2.5 6'11" 1/8-1/2oz slow taper) for peanuts/sweet p's. I Can't believe I'm buying a megabass....I used to scoff at them because they were heavy and/or overly adorned IMO.
  4. Sweet. I was checking those out on Tackle Haven's site. The whole Orion line seems to be regular tapered rods with a broad lure weight range. Glad it turned out to be a keeper..
  5. Yep....the farther your hook point is above the line tie, the better your hookup ratio will be. It is why straight shanks have the best hookup ratio.
  6. I always use a rattle....jigs and soft plastics. I prefer glass rattles inserted into my bait/trailer. I use the larger single ball 'tube' rattle the most. It will fit in most creature baits and provides a nice knocking sound.
  7. Yes sir. I do not buy reels from Japan because of the exchange rate; it is because they price them cheaper. I guess japan doesnt enforce product msrp's like in the U.S.
  8. Those graphics are loud....just too much. I bet jordan didn't have any input on the cosmetics.
  9. JdM Tackle Haven is also about $60, but they will ship 2 rods in one tube if you buy a couple. Japan lure shop is probably the cheapest place to buy jdm rods, but they sell out fast and never replenish.
  10. The pistol grip was replaced by longer straighr grips. The split grip started with custom rod builders in the late '90s to save weight, and a few years later major manufacturers took notice. As Mick said, pistol grips aren't condusive with today's longer rod lengths.
  11. I have 9 and 10 speed reels mostly for bottom baits. The main advantage for me is getting my bait back to the boat lickity split so my bait spends less time out of the water.
  12. If you go p5, check out JDM Tackle Haven. P5's run $332-$395. Shipping is usually $50-$60. No warranty from megabass Japan?! Who cares when you can buy 3 for the price of 2 in the U.S. https://jdmtackleheaven.com/search?type=product&q=Destroyer+p5
  13. My black friday picks: The new Berkley 'stunna' 112 jerkbait. It might fill a void in your jerkbait box being a slow sinker that excels in warmer water. Any of FMTC's sruff....crasher craws, their new soft swimbaits, and swim jigs that have blade attachments. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/search-tackle.html?start=0&count=30&searchtext=Fmtc
  14. I thought he was the auto parts king...
  15. Looks great. That adrena has an intetesting reel locking mechanism.
  16. 5.3oz is crazy light . My og ballistic 2000's weigh nearly 2oz more. I'm in the market for a couple of spinners myself, and am anxious to try a 3000 size reel.
  17. Essence. Its magnesium frame is rigid and will save you nearly an ounce of weight (6.2oz vs 7.1oz). I will say that the twinpower has quite the folliwing with overseas buyers. Seemed like e ery time I visit digitaka, there is always a twinpower in the 'recently purchased' sidebar.
  18. I would replace (upgrade) your spool bearings. May or may not be a bad bearing, but this is a cheap upgrade/fix to try.
  19. Purchased several mid wee R's for $1.99 at the 2001 bps spring classic. They've been good producers, and I'd definitely like to try the deeper version.
  20. I definitely share your motto.
  21. The 4 power bcr's are stout. Definitely a jig/pitchin' rod. I'd pick up a 70 size reel and spool up some heavier fluorocarbon.
  22. Pline Tactical would probably be my first choice, but I like Trilene 100% a lot. I used Trilene 100% exclusively for several years when it first launched. I actually purchased 4 2000yd spools of the100% from Skeet Reese via ebay. No kidding.
