  1. Mosquitoes. You can't hide. They'll find you. he's right! the mosquitoes will get you. not sure about blacklights, but i do know that bugs are not attracted to a red light. night fishing is a great (and productive) way to beat the heat in the summer. Red light will also not mess with your night vision like other colored lights will. If it's too hot to fish from the boat or bank, I go wading. It's the best way to fish in the summer if you ask me
  2. I have a Medalist. I never thought it was worth the extra money, I should have just gone with a President. The Medalist doesn't feel as smooth to me, and it feels bulky and clunky.
  3. Berkley is owned by Pure fishing. Avid says it all, all we can do is the best we can to avoid harming the fish. No fisherman wants to hurt the species they fish for...
  4. I have, but not regularly. I have a friend who has caught some big bass from the area near Angler's Inn in MD
  5. I used to use an Avid 7' ML F with a Stradic FH2500. Today I just got it replaced with a St Croix Legend Tournament Bass 7' MF (the tube rod) I haven't used it yet but I can't wait...
  6. en·cour·age verb (used with object), -aged, -ag·ing. 1. to inspire with courage, spirit, or confidence: His coach encouraged him throughout the marathon race to keep on running. 2. to stimulate by assistance, approval, etc.: One of the chief duties of a teacher is to encourage students. 3. to promote, advance, or foster: Poverty often encourages crime. : Dan, what's your point? I don't mean to be an a*&hole or anything, I've downloaded my fair share, but I've been to forums before that had forbidden topics related to illegal downloads because of some sort of liability issues they could possibly faced with. I don't know if it's a real issue or if it could really have any sort of liability implications but I was just sayin'. I don't mean anything by it... If the forum is not concerned with that, then I'll say that Limewire probably works the best of whatever I've used. Torrents can work very well also and often have the most search results and the quickest downloads (and you can download whole albums/discographies at a time whereas limewire is almost always one song per file). BUT torrents are a little sketchy. They need a little more computer knowledge and you need to make sure you don't seed anything. If you seed, that's basically the same as allowing others to upload files from you on limewire. Also, people like the MPAA and RIAA can monitor seeders and find you through your ISP. My brother seeded a movie (it seeds automatically once it finished) and he recieved a cease and desist from our ISP as forwarded from the MPAA with threats of fines of up to $150,000 per movie and/or jail. With these warnings comes extra scrutiny from your ISP because they want to make sure you won't get them sued.

  8. Isn't this thread kind of encouraging doing something illegal?
  9. it is fake, it was a publicity stunt. At least that's what I heard on the radio this morning. I can't remember what is was for, though.
  10. Depth changes, bottom compositions (ie: sandy or rocky areas), isolated boulders or rocks, occasionally shade, etc..
  11. I used to work in that store. Their selection is pretty average. The Dick's in Fair Lakes has a much better selection. I think it is probably the best place to get fishing gear in the DC metro area. (Gander Mtn in Fredericksburg and Winchester are good also, but too far away)
  12. also called Robber Crabs. They crack open coconuts with their pinchers
  13. Dan: replied to WTRDOG's topic in Hunting Forum
    I've seen them ONCE
  14. his "equation" means HD is not equal to digital. The mathematical symbol is an equals sign with a dash through it, which does not exist on a keyboard. (It is generally written != on the computer)
  15. Sorry, dude, I can't fish during the week except for evenings. Congrats on the upcoming baby, though.
  16. I also agree with the 2500 size for Bass. I have a Stradic 2500 and it is PERFECT for bass.
  17. There is a DEFINITE difference between HDMI and component on my TV.
  18. True, but then again, if you can pay $10 for a cable, why not? It will give you better picture on your high resolution devices. True, but like I said, if you are spending that much on a set, might as well spend a little extra for the 1080p so you have the ability to see the best picture available. Even if most inputs aren't 1080p, I have a feeling as more people get HDTVs, there will be more inputs that have 1080p resolutions in the near future.
  19. The Postal Service is a semi-government organization....What do you expect? The government has no idea how to run things efficiently. ;D But seriously, that sucks dude.
  20. So Russ, you are basically describing muscle memory if I understand you correctly? It's the same reason why baseball players use heavier bats or donut weights while in the on-deck circle?
  21. I have used it to find fishing places, but I always forget how cool it is to see different sites around the world. You can spend hours on there just looking at Taipei, Shanghai, or Rio De Janeiro.
  22. x2. I think it would be a complete waste to get an HD tv unless you have or are planning to get the HD channels. It's nice for movies, but still not worth it. To answer your question though, I would go with at least 1080i. My dad has a 1080p and it is ridiculous, but the 1080i would do very well also. The 720s look good, but with a purchase like that, might as well spend a little extra and not regret it later. You will also need HDMI cables. Something to look for on TVs is how many HDMI inputs they have. Ours has 2, one for cable and one for the HD dvd player. If you plan on having more than one HD input like that, you need a tv with the ability to have them both plugged in, otherwise its a hassle. HDMI cables are expensive, but don't buy them at the store, you can find them MUCH cheaper online. (they often run around $100 in store but can be found for as little as $40 online from what I've found)
  23. Dadgumit! I'm going to clean out my apartment at school this weekend before my lease ends
  24. Sorry dude, I have work from 8-4 every weekday until probably the 15th
