  1. Welcome to the forum. Just for your information, The Duke of Mook "Muddy" has a mild case of Alzheimer's. He forgets things. If he starts hounding you for money that you don't owe him, just ignore him. He does that to everyone.
  2. Matt, how you know this information is beyond me. I'm dumbfounded. I didn't know that someone found my wallet until I returned home Sunday evening. To the best of my knowledge, there were only three people on the face of the planet who knew that my wallet had been found. i.e. the guy who found it, my fishing partner and me. Not only that, you know WHERE he found it. Very strange. As for Texas hospitality, you are right on. Dana, at Lake Fork Marina, took pity on me and advanced me $300 against my lost American Express card. I can't thank her enough. It allowed us to fish the tournament and have enough money to get back home. As for the man who found my wallet, he is a Saint. There are very few people who would do what he did. When I was finally able to return his call Sunday evening, I told him to keep all the cash in the wallet (about $150) and send the wallet to me by overnight mail. He refused to keep the money, but said he would withhold what it cost him to send me the wallet. Bless you, Mr. Walker!
  3. St. Pat's day may be over, but I'm still green with ***. Well done!
  4. Nice fish, but I think you've got a bearing going out in your trolling motor. It sounds like a rattling box of rocks. ;D ;D ;D
  5. Carl, great idea! Half of us should wear our shirts backwards. Muddy loves to look at his bouncies.
  6. You Mooks will never learn. If the gravy is white, it's gravy. If the gravy is red, it's sauce. I teach this at "Long Mike's School of Cajun Cuisine and Varmit Riddin." ;D ;D ;D
  7. Well, two trips down, one to go. The first trip was at Caney Creek, LA. New PB at 4.5 lbs. Last week-end I fished my very first tournament, which was held on Lake Fork. It was a one day only "Biggest Bass" tournament. The first prize winner picked up $2050 with a lunker that weighed all of 2.54 lbs. My boat turned in the seventh place entry, which weighed a whopping 0.58 lbs. Needless to say the bass had lock-jaw. A driving rain/hail storm the night before, coupled with 30 mph Northerly winds, pretty much guaranteed that the trip would be a bust. It was. Throw in the problems with me losing my wallet and breaking the tip off a new BC rod and you will get a pretty good idea about how my trip went. To add insult to injury, I did not have the opportunity of meeting Bighead or Matt Fly. Jeeze, that trip really sucked. OK, it's now all water under the bridge. Next week-end I'm off to Guntersville for a solid week of fishing with a great bunch of guys. I will probably not catch my coveted ten-pounder, but I will have a great week nonetheless. The BassResource trip is the one I've been looking forward to for a year.
  8. Sounds to me like you got a good boat at a great price. Have you performed a compression check on the engine and performed all the other checks that have been discussed here at great length?
  9. Hey youse Mods, is anyone going to PM the contact info for the attendees?
  10. Irrelevant, just got back into town this evening and I'm beat. I made all the boards myself for about $35.00. PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send you some drawings and photos after I get some much needed rest.
  11. Gentlemen, I will be off the board until next Sunday night. I'm headed for Lake Fork at 4:00 AM. If any of you needs to contact me, PM the Mods or Muddy. They all have my cell phone number. Wish me luck.
  12. Chris, it's a fishing trip! I will accept nothing less than good ole' Western Kentucky redneck Anglish and all the four letter words that go with it. Farts are optional.
  13. I'm going to Guntersville! Thanks to RW, Mike and CJ they have somehow managed to make room for my scarecrow body and limbs. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I promise to keep my Pfluegers covered so as to keep their shining glory from keeping anyone awake. To LBH and Jimzee: I want to thank you both publically for the selfless offers made by each of you that I could never accept. I am truly humbled by your generosity. To all other BR members: BASSRESOURCE ROCKS
  14. www.lowrance.com has a great tutorial on sonar and gps usage. Also, you can download simulators of their various products and practice from your desk.
  15. Well, the first trip of the month went just OK. Dismal weather the first day. Blinding snow and fog on the water. Oddly enough, that was our best day. Our foursome caught two above five pounds, one at four and a half, one at four, and one at three. I caught the four and a halfer. The next two days produced nice weather , but only a couple of dinks. Well, Thursday morning I'm off on my next trip. Lake Fork, TX. Still on a quest for my ten pounder. Hope springs eternal.
  16. Burley, nice photos. Too bad about the fishing. Thanks for the PM's.
  17. Bad news guys. As of today there is a very strong possibility that I will not be able to afford to make the trip. I have a cabin reserved, but one of my room-mates has had to cancel due to injury. My other room-mate has failed to return repeated calls to his home and his cell phone. I finally got in touch with him today at work. He was very wishy-washy about whether or not he is going to make the trip and told me he would let me know tomorrow. Yeah, right! And the check is in the mail! I will give JeremyT the doubt and contact him tomorrow, but I'm sure that he will tell me that he can't make it. That being the case, there is no way that I can afford to pay a week's rent for a cabin occupied by myself alone. I will therefore be forced to cancel my room reservation and my trip to Guntersville. It makes me sick to my stomach to think about it. My only recourse at this point is to fervently hope for a cancellation by one of the other members that would result in a bed coming open in one of the other cabins.

Don't forget Home Depot. I'm beginning to think that all the major retailers own stock in paper mills.
  19. Bighead, I don't know the name of the tournament. It is a "one day only, biggest bass" tournament that is launching out of Lake Fork Marina on Saturday the 15th. I'm the back-seater.
  20. John J, it was neither a typo nor a spelling error. It was an intentional misuse of the language. If I had wanted to use the proper diction I would have typed "you folks WHO live in ice land." To all others who have expressed their good wishes, many thanks. I'm hoping for a ten pound-er, but anything over my PB of four would be great.
  21. Just want to let everyone know that I still have a bed available, along with an empty boat seat if anyone is interested.

You Eyetalions sure eat some strange stuff. ;D ;D ;D
  23. Real men don't wear perfume.
  24. There is an encyclopedia of bass fishing information available on this site. I spent weeks reading and re-reading the articles before I joined the forum. After well over a year as a member, I still go back and re-read some of them.
  25. He missed Avid and his humor.
