quicksilver or supertech?
Way2 Slow, since you have seen the inside of enough motors to provide definitive opinions on the quality of motor oils, it is obvious that you are somehow closely involved with the repair/maintenance of said motors. That being the case, what is your opinion on the quality of the various gasoline additives being offered these days? And why?

How did you find Bass Resource?
I was Googling for porn sites and absolutely typed a "B" in front of the word I was looking for.

Sonar/GPS Combo Unit Input
I have the Lowrance 522C, which is the 527C with an internal GPS antenna. I absolutely love it. I will be installing another one on the bow when funds allow.

The term cruising bass...
The amount of knowledge available on this board is almost overwhelming to an old fart like me. Thankfully, I can read and re-read these posts. To Mr. Lusk, WRB and Mr. Roberts - a heart felt thank you!

quicksilver or supertech?
Yup, to the best of my knowledge, they are pretty much all the same. As a suggestion, add an ounce of Startron each time you fill your tank. It's an enzyme based product that keeps your gas and carburetors in tip-top condition.

Exclusive Interview with Jeff Kriet
Great interviews. Good questions. I watched all three of them. One of the most intriguing points that Jeff made was to fish your early tournaments as a non-boater. What a great way to gain knowledge! BTW, you misspelled exclusive.

Crazy age game!
It's interesting to note that the formula will work for any positive interger relating to the number of times you wish to eat out. e.g. If you wanted to eat out 7169 times a week, the formula would still work. Also, your age must be between 1 and 99.

Man, that thermometer tester must be a real asz-hole.

Disposing of old gas
Pour it into the gas tank of your car/truck. Make sure your tank is near full. The bad gas will be diluted to the point that it will not harm your vehicle.

Carpet
Try using ordinary paint stripper. I've had success with it in the past.

RIP Chuck!
Sixty Minutes did a segment on him this evening. He was interviewed soon after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. He will be missed.

2009 Road Trip
There are multiple problems with trying to get a Texan to fish anywhere other than Texas. 1. Their egos will not allow them to admit that there is any purdier place than Texas. 2. Their ignorance will not allow them to admit that lakes outside of Texas also produce big bass. 3. Their huge belt buckles set off too many security alarms. 4. They can't understand why other states will not permit the use of dynamite or shotguns when bass fishing. 5. Since everything is bigger and better in Texas, it becomes much too expensive to tow their 32' Bullet boats with quad 200 hp engines to any lake more than twelve miles from home. 6. Their Parole Officers will not allow them to leave the state. I'm sure there are other reasons why Texans so are reluctant to fish outside of the Lone Star state. Other members, feel free to chime in. ;D ;D ;D

the "easy 10 pounder" - a how to guide
Hawg Caller, I'm a firm believer in your first rule. That's why I never get to fish. I just sit in my boat and change lures all day, thinking "Naw, he won't bite that one; Naw, he won't bite that one either; Naw, he won't ..." ;D ;D ;D

Wire Guage for Trolling Motor?
If your splice is only a few feet long, you can get by with No. 8 wire. Go with No. 6 if you have a longer splice.

Every time gas goes into my boat Startron goes into it also. My old 60 HP Johnson\Evinrude purrs like a kitten.

LMS520C, GPS Not Responding
Rick, forgive me if I am stating the obvious, but if I am not mistaken, the 520 is designed for mounting in the console and requires an external GPS antenna. Do you have one installed?

One more question on batteries -
Most everyone powers their TM with a separate deep cycle battery. I strongly recommend that you do the same. Picture yourself fishing all day, using the same battery on the TM that starts your big motor. Picture yourself sitting in the middle of a lake with a dead trolling motor battery - the same battery that will now no longer start the big motor. Do you get the picture?

3rd Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
After a twelve hour drive I made it home about nine last night. It was great to meet and fish with both old friends and new ones. Ronnie (with Muddy's meatballs) and Ghoti cooked up a great batch of groceries that satisfied even the most ravenous of us, including Speedbead. Unfortunately, the food served up by the Lodge left a lot to be desired. Despite the fact that the bass had lock-jaw, it was a great trip. I was able to fish with Glenn (Glenn), Roadwarrior (Kent) and RiskKid (Carl.) All have a great sense of humor and are truly enjoyable and knowledgeable fishing partners. In addition, I had the great good fortune of rooming with Kent, CJ and MassholeMike. Very few know that Kent gave up his own bed and slept on the couch in order to accommodate me when I was forced to cancel the cabin I had reserved when my room-mates dropped out at the last minute. His selflessness is amazing, and I will be forever grateful. I could go on and on about my room-mates. CJ could be the next KVD. Lots of knowledge and skill. MassholeMike has the enthusiasm of youth and the drive to be a VERY good fisherman. Everyone knows that he caught a lunker that most men only dream of. When I add it all up, the camaraderie with old and new friends, and the opportunity to fish one of the most beautiful lakes I have ever seen have made my trip one of the best Ive ever had. I'm very much looking forward to next year.

3rd Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
Please guys, only one day to go. If someone would be kind enough to PM with the cell phone numbers of the attendees I would be very grateful. If nothing else, could I, at the very least, have the numbers of the mods and for Ghotti?
