  1. You ain't kidding. A bit off topic but pharmaceutical companies are making a TON of money. Example; There is a very common pill made that cost the pharm. company .50 cents to make. The same pill in a 30 day script will run you about $600 w/out insurance. On my plan it would cost me $20.
  2. Are there any handles that will fit the Core 50MG7 that are lighter than the stock handle?
  3. Make sure you rinse the reel with freshwater after EVERY use and you'll be fine using almost any reel.
  4. Shimano Baitrunners and Penn are probably the best saltwater reels out there.
  5. Tell me about. I spent 22 yrs building my up and lost over 50k in the last 1.5 yrs. I realize 50k isn't much but that money would have off set my medical. LUCKILY, that money was in addition to my pension.
  6. Kind of reminds me of a poster I saw years ago. The poster was a picture of a crowded sidewalk in a busy city like New York. The people, hundreds and hundreds of them, were walking shoulder to shoulder and dressed for the various jobs the city had to offer. The bottom of the poster read "can you pick out the drug addict?"
  7. Good for you . Now, write a letter to corporate. I went car shopping a few years ago. I stopped in at the Acura dealership to look at the MDX which I was very serious about buying. I was wearing shorts, t-shirt, flip flops and a hat. I told the 2 sales people who were just standing around that I was interested in the MDX. There reply "the used cars are in the lot over there, and pointed." I said "I want new, not used" They pointed to the other direction and said someone would be with me. After 20 minutes of waiting, I left. I drove a mile to the Volvo dealership and drove away in a new Volvo SUV in a matter of couple hours. I drove the Volvo to Acura, went up to the salesman and said " a nice day".
  8. Wow, service at it's best. Thank you for taking the time to throughly describe how to rig these baits. I will follow your instructions to the T but, if they don't produce then I will melt them down and make Senko knock offs out of them ;D ;D ;D
  9. Aside from social security, what is your retirement plan? I am just curious as to how others plan for their retirement and at what age they intend to retire. Do you put money aside each week or month into a special account? Do you send extra money every month on your mortgage to pay your house off quicker? Do you plan on working part time after you retire? Are you moving after retirement? I want to retire at age 50. I do not intend on working after retirement unless I WANT to. I would like to tow my boat throughout the southeast (for starters) and fish all popular lakes/rivers. I also want to move closer to Stick Marsh and make that my home lake. Realistically though, I'm worried about affording medical/dental coverage so I may have to keep working. Affording medical coverage probably wouldn't be a problem if my house was paid off.
  10. I know that there are alligators in the lake, but like with any lake here in Florida, you just get used to them and learn to watch for signs of their presence. A vast majority of the time they want nothing to do with people. I think he was referring to the movie.
  11. A tree, nail, pliers and knife is all you need for cleaning/skinning. I like the cot you set up under the bridge, I'm just glad you didn't get robbed by the homeless people for it.
  12. Rhino, perhaps I misunderstood what you're asking to get out of your post. One does not have to benefit finacialy to promte something. What's in it for the recreational angler? I don't know. What's in it for you? Relaxation, destress yourself, being outdoors? Think about it. The goal of promoting is to interest others so they will take up the sport. What's wrong with that. If no one promoted the sport to me then I would never have experienced the joy of catching a fish. Do you really want twice as many fishermen on the pond with you? Should I be bitter if I see you fishing the same water as me? After all, if no one promoted the sport to you then I would have the pond to myself without you on it. Promoting the sport of fishng by educated people such as you or me can be done as to encourage others to fish responsibly. We can teach others the benifets of catch and release and recycling fishing line and the proper way to dispose of our trash or whatever . I do not mind sharing my pond with an educated, responsible fisherman.
  13. Me either. Mine will be here Wednesday.
  14. I don't think bass mind the color of braid any more then they mind those treble kooks dangling from some of those funky color lures.
  15. I made an error in my first post. I have the BCR853, not the 854. I'm in the process of ordering the BCR852 for lighter applications. These rods are pricey and you might only be able to buy 1 or 2 once a year or so. But remember this, these rods are a lifetime purchase. If ANYTHING ever happens to your rod, you get a brand new one for only $50. I still have my first Loomis rod that I got over 20 years ago and I still use it. Yea, it shows the wear but works just as good the day I got it. I could easily snap the tip and get a new one for 50 bucks but that would be wrong to do, plus I'm paranoid about bad karma. Not a bad investment though.
  16. It's scary how GREAT minds think a like. I was thinking the exact same thing ;D.
  17. I'm sorry to hear a few of yall have such a negative attitude about promoting/teaching others about the great sport of fishing. It appears fishing played a role is saving Muudy's life. (I have lots of respect for you Muddy) I'm so fortunate my dad liked to fish and that he passed his knowledge and TIME on to me. Being how I'm in law enforcement, I see A LOT of juvenile delinquents. I asked these kids, every chance I get, if they like to fish or have ever been. Their responses sometimes choke me up. God only knows how the lives of these kids, and adults, would be different if someone took the time to share with them this great sport of fishing, or any other sport for that matter. I would rather have new people learn about fishing then non-fisherman polluting our resources.
  18. I had to give my son a bath but got to watch some of it. Did she lip sync the last song? Either way, she's the bomb. Can you imagine winning a night out on the town with her?
  19. So is America's got talent. ;D Just found SL, thanks. She needs to wear a mini skirt and spaghetti strap top though.
  20. Yep, I started putting 150 a month into a Christmas savings fund at my bank 3 months. I refuse to wait until the last minute like years past and there is NO WAY IN HELL I'M USING CREDIT CARDS again.
  21. Wow! That definitely qualifies for the photo of the day.
  22. My first high end combo (22 yrs ago next week) was the same Magnumlite you posted and a 6'6 G-Loomis IM6. I still have both and both still function flawlessly.
  23. BCR854- this is the worm/jig series and is an awesome rod. GLX 7'1" line=14 - 20 lure=5/16 - 3/4 action=Fast power=Heavy price= $395.00
  24. Flat out awesome Jason. See what happens when you're not buried in term papers..Looks like you dropped a couple pounds too.
