  1. I use a Dobyns champion graphite 704cb. I love it, and it can cast a Rapala Tiny 4 quite easily. It’s a pretty light bait. I love it. It’s super light and comfortable. On sale right now at ALF
  2. I use it on most setups. 20lb-40lb braid. Love it. It’s annoying when someone on BR asks about a leader knot and the responses come “don’t use a knot, it’s will just fail” so tired. It doesn’t fail if you know how to use it.
  3. Great place to start. I run almost all my set ups, including my cranking combo with braid to leader.
  4. ALL FC stretches. Take any and pull it, you will see/feel it stretch.
  5. Their Black Friday sale stacked with the dobyns sale. And some reward points were used.
  6. I have a Champion XP 735 and 736. Both are really nice rod. I ended up using my 735 for 6" magdrafts and swim jigs, and the 736 for S-Wavers 168, 1/2oz swim jigs, and 6.8" Keitechs with 1/2oz belly hook. Did you end up getting the 736?
  7. Got a Dobyns Champion 736c at ALF for $149 last night.
  8. Anyone out there throwing the Daiwa Tatula 7'3" Swimbait rod? It's rated to 4oz and has a regular action. I'll be wanting to use it with S-Waver 168, 6" Magdrafts with 3/4oz belly hook, 6.8" Kietech with 3/8 or 3/4oz belly hook. So basically swim baiting, but not really big ones. Most of the baits I'll be using are in the 1.5-2 1/4oz baits. Will this rod be able to go up to S-Waver 200 or some of the mid size swimbaits out there.
  9. Eh, nothing can make everyone happy. you want the big boy knobs/handles you get them.
  10. I had two of the current Curado 70 reels in 6 and 7 speed. I loved these reels for casting and comfort. Unfortunately both got rough feeling in the middle of the second season. Nothing I tried helped much, cleaning, greasing, oiling, I even changed out the spool bearings on one. Not sure what was up with them because it doesn't seem like other people had the same problem. Sold them.
  11. What is it that you like about these TD-X reels?
  12. Husky Jerk 3.5” and X Rap . Both are great baits I also catch lots of fish on the 3.5” Rebel Minnows, both the solid and broke back versions. They are floaters, but are great fished like a jerkbait
  13. In past years I usually hang it up in November, maybe here and there a day with one or two bass, with mostly skunks. However, this November has been incredible. I fish around Chicago, so it can be really cold. I’ve been out four times so far and have caught three over 4lbs and four over 3lbs. I can’t usually crankbait except for early spring before the weeds choke up the lakes. This year the weeds died off, and it’s been good cranking water. This fall I have been catching good bass on a Rapala OG Tiny 4, and good numbers too. Best baits so far have been the OG Tiny 4, mini max, jig and chunk, and neds. I’m not used to catching so many fish w the water in the mid/low 40’s. Have any of you northern guys been getting out there this fall? Most fish have been shallow too, between 2 and 4’.
  14. Another expired vote here.
  15. For those baits save your money and get the regular Champion instead of the Extreme. The 703 or 704 would be my choices for your baits mentioned. Go with the 3 if your baits are lighter, and the 4 power if you use heavier baits. If you like longer rods get the 733 or 734c.
  16. I ordered the other day, and it was shipped out that afternoon. Package will be arriving today....three days total from order to delivery. I can get around ok. BUT I really don't like how they changed the rod info. Some rods you can't even see the model number now. Other than that is ok, but is a little clunky now where it wasn't before.
  17. I have a bunch of older IMX and IMX-Pro rods. I have the 852c JWR rod, actually two of them. I love these rods. I use them for 1/4 Bitsy Flip jigs, 3/16 to 1/4oz t rigs, flukes, 1/4oz Mini Max chatterbaits, small spinnerbaits, lighter belly weighted under spins. What a killer rod! I also have the GLX version that has a slightly lighter tip but the same backbone. Both are really fun to fish. The GLX is like a feather, but both are not tip heavy at all with a new Zillion or Metanium. The 854 JWR has a fast tip instead of the extra fast tip the that the 852 and 853 have. The 854 is a killer jig and t rig rod. You will dig these rods.
  18. Love them! I have them on my Alphas. They are firm and textured, and feel great. I disagree they are slippery when wet. Mine aren't at all. They spin super smoothly, and feel really solid.
  19. IMHO this is the best looking reel. Looks like Daiwa got ride of the zero adjuster.
