  1. Did you end up pulling the trigger on the Light + Expride?
  2. Pike are one of my favorite fish to eat. I eat them easily with chopsticks, picking through, the bones never bothered me.
  3. I'm talking about the general sentiment of his post, not the specific gear. I'm not familiar with older Daiwa stuff, I just get turned off by the vibe over there.
  4. Dude, if you said that on another forum with the initials TT, you would be berated into the ground. I think you will be ok here though.
  5. You seem to experience things no one else has happen to them. I have 4 year old red label on original spools and on reels, no issues.
  6. I use both leader and without leader on my setups. There are benefits to using leaders. Abrasion resistance Rate of fall less hook fouling
  7. I had to order a few parts, so called Daiwa customer service. The person I talked with was incredibly helpful and friendly. I received my shipment tracking 3hrs after the call. My first time dealing with them. Just passing on something positive.

I found that starting with a weightless 6" stickbait was a great lure to start out with. It will help you get the motion down, then you can change baits. The thing that helped me at first was learning to hit the water on the cast closer to me than I expected. It will force you to get the motion of moving the bait horizontally forward.
  9. Spinning gear and braid is a great combination. For me, it is the perfect line for spinning gear. Either suck it up and learn connection knot, or use it straight. It will be great for what you would like to use it for.
  10. I saw a video on youtube of someone describing their drop shot knot, and he said he uses a half uni knot. Does anyone know what a half uni knot is? I can't remember which channel posted it, and googling it isn't helping much.
  11. Do you have any other 1/4oz lure to try it with?
  12. I’d use 20lb Red Label, or your preferred fluoro
  13. I'm not sure I can accurately say since I have different rods between the rod lines. I have all 6'6" and 7' 3 power MBR in my IMX/GLX rods, and 7'2" 3 power and 7'1" 2 power JWR rods. Balance is great with all of them.
  14. It sounds like it's fraying the line, or it is fraying the line?
  15. I'm an older IMX fan, The MBR rods in particular. I have JWR IMX-Pro rods (three, no MBR), and 4 older IMX MBR rods, and two older GLX MBR rods to compare. The JWR IMX-Pro rods are very sensitive for bottom contact fishing, maybe a little more than the IMX. I love them all, and I don't think you would suffer at all, getting any of them. For me, I find the magic in IMX older and new, so that's where I stay. I am so used to them, I feel really connected to them. From what I see the IMX-Pro rods usually sell for $240-$250, the GLX go for around $350 used, and NRX go for $380-$425 plus shipping. Personally I don't see the benefit of getting the above the $300 mark, but I know lots of people do. For me, I'm staying in the IMX-Pro range.
  16. The Bitsy Flip is a great jig. I would say it’s definitely worth having some in your bag. I use them all year, mostly with Zoom Super Chunk Jr as a trailer. I have caught multiple 5 and 6lb lmb on them, and lots of smaller fish too. Smb hit them well too. The compact size looks a lot like small bluegills and craws. It’s been a mainstay for me for years. Hook up ratio is incredible with them. I prefer them to the bitsy bug for the reasons stated above. Hook, and weed guard are both beefier on the flip than the bug. They make great cold water jigs.
  17. This is what I was going to say. Save some money and get these. The Bitsy Flip and Zoom Super Chunk Jr is also my jam.
  18. Why would you want to use a leader? What’s the benefit to it?
  19. Kuying makes a casting version of the rod I described, it’s well renowned in the bfs word. Teton 662c. Check Ali express, they’re about $60
  20. How do you clean you grips? Why do you think you need to reapply U40? Ever have any issues with it flaking off? thx
