Staying on the trail is one of the easiest ways to limit encounters. That being said, the best fishing is not found along the trail. I use permethrin on my light colored clothes that I wear fishing. Light colors help me see them crawling on me better than dark cloths. I try to think of ticks as moving up from the ground and I try not to give them access to my skin. My pants get tucked into my socks, my shirt gets tucked into my pants. I use a spray repellent with 40% DEET for my face, neck and exposed skin. I quickly check for ticks before I even make my first cast if I am in an area where I know them to be more concentrated. I also do a check before I get back into my vehicle. When I get home, I have my wife do a check, then take a shower. I make sure to touch everything with my hands working from my head down before I soap up with the body poof because my hands will find the little buggers that the poof may miss or relocate.

The guys in the eastern mass thread are reporting water temps at ~42-45. Our water in south eastern NH just opened up this past week and a lot of water still has ice on it. You are going to find lots of dead stuff on the bottoms right now. The leaves from last fall are breaking down and the weedbeds haven't started growing yet. This makes anything touching bottom a magnet for muck. Jerkbaits that run and suspend above the bottom depth you are targeting should be ok. I fish stuff that runs 4-6' over 8-10' of water this time of year. Find the drop offs on the north side of the pond. Find the hard cover, wood, rocks, concrete, etc. it warms faster with the sun. No issues with using a spinning rod for jerkbaits either. I use them all the time when fishing from the bank because my bc casting isn't the best yet.

DSG is having their "Biggest Fishing Sale of the Year". I just picked up 2 1000yd spools of trilene @ $5.50 a spool and trokar hooks at buy 3 get 3. It looks like you can do the 3000yd spools @ 2 for $11 as well but that seems overkill for my needs.

As long as you have a bilge pump that can turn on and off automatically as needed to pump out any rain or leaks the boat may develop, there shouldn't be too much of an issue. There are thousands of boats kept at marinas all over the country.

Not completely true. In the 55lb 54" (no US2 or link)model the difference is ~$50 from Minn Kota's site. The foot pedal is not included with the terrova but is only ~$200 more, I'm assuming it can still be used on the basic model. If you include the US2 the price gap starts to grow and even more so if you jump to higher thrust ratings.

I carry one. One of the cheap 20"ish round aluminum handled ones. It's one of the only things that keeps my 2yo daughter entertained when we go out as a family. She loves to net her brothers catches. Being that she is 2, I have had to fish it out of the drink a few times already and would be upset if I lost an expensive one. When I go alone, it is readily accessible but I only really use it with toothy fish.

Lowrance lists the HDS 9 Gen 3 on their site for $1249 without a transducer, $1499 with the Total Scan and $1999 with the Structure scan 3d. If you're getting the Structure Scan setup then its a decent price, if not, there are probably better deals out there.

I got a garmin 93sv echomap plus. It was on sale. The maps on it have the 1' contours covering most of the lakes in my area so I didn't have to buy a map card after buying the head unit. It has side view capabilities. The menus and navigating them made the most sense to me when I played with it in the store.

Where in NH did you find corn free? The only places I've seen it are Pease Tradeport and Haffner's. At Pease it's airplane fuel and ~$10 a gallon, Haffner's its 110 octane race fuel and close to $8 a gallon.

I'm 280lbs and comfortably paddle my Old Town Guide 147 all day. I use a "sit backer" attached to the molded seats for some added comfort. I built homemade outriggers for it and I can stand without any issues.

Right from RSA 339:77 "Prohibited fishing tackle shall include lead sinkers with a total weight of one ounce or less and lead jigs with a total weight of one ounce or less, regardless of whether they are painted, coated, or covered by some other substance or by attached skirts. Lead sinkers and lead jigs shall not include lead fishing related items, including but not limited to lead core line, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, spoons, poppers, plugs, or flies." From my interactions with NHFG, pretty much anything besides what is on the "not included" list given is going to be an issue depending on the interpretation of the officer.

It may be possible to transfer by saving your waypoints to a SD card and then swapping it to the other unit but for real time updates, the plus unit will not communicate with the non plus unit.

Plus units use the data cable (ethernet port). The chirp unit uses the blue/brown wires. Blue/Brown on the plus unit will connect to NMEA 0183 devices only.
