Just how much drag do you need?
25 - 30% of the breaking strength of your line, within the suggested guidelines for the rod. For example, 12 lb test line = drag setting of 3.0 - 3.6 lbs. The drag should initially be set with a scale until you develop a "feel" for the setting. This can be done with a direct tie or with a plastic grocery bag filled with free weights. If you use a bag, gently lift it off the ground and set the drag as it barely begins to release. I quoted ghoti because he and I are on exactly the same page: My drag settings are actually below guidelines. #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid is 11.9 lb test, my drag setting for spinning tackle is ~2.5 lbs. For baitcasters, #12 Hybrid is 19.5, my drag is set at ~3.0 lbs. I have only been broken off once in open water. Although that was heartbreaking, it had nothing to do with my drag setting. 8-)

what is the difference in this buzzbait?
Hmm... Buy a few Cavitron 3/8 oz buzzbaits and you're done. I prefer black on black. http://www.megastrikefishingproducts.com/shop/cart.php?target=category&category_id=70 8-)

Well, I'll start with a disclaimer: Make all purchases with a BPS VISA. I have never had a problem, receipt or not, "Could you look it up for me?" ;D ;D

Pre-Hooking Fish?
Hmm... Most fish water they know is very productive. All are pretty good sticks, many probably have guides. One segment might take a day or a week. I highly doubt the fish are hooked up for these guys. 8-)

Cold muddy water: location?
Most sensible solution: Stay home. Alternative #1: You have to hit them on the head and your best bet is tight to cover. #2 Something loud, bright and moves lots of water. (Has never worked for me). :

The Bait Monkey And Me
I took off work around mid-day Friday and The Bait Monkey suggested we hit Sportsmen's Warehouse to check out their "Final Days Sale". We picked up a few shallow Lucky Craft crankbaits that I needed, a few DD22's that I didn't and all GYCB favorite colors to add to my lifetime collection. My "savings" were awesome, but it still cost me $158. Now, that wasn't bad, but Sunday it got complicated. The Monkey says to me, "Only a week to go, it's probably our last chance!" So, off we go and low and behold, dudes were holding out on me! Sportsmen's Warehouse put out the rest of their Senkos which at $3.60 a bag, I was forced to buy. Surprisingly, The Monkey found a few more Lucky Craft I needed, too! 8-)

Rage Tail
They fish water that produces fish, film for a week and show the highlights. Regarding Rage Tail baits: Not only do I fish them, I personally watched Big-O put on a show at Kentucky Lake. CJ and I fished EXACTLY the same area and caught a few fish. Chris had 5-6 keepers, I had some numbers, but no size. Big-O had numbers 4-5 lbs, including a 6 1/2 largemouth! Rage Tail is the real deal and the baits have won major tournaments. If you are not fishing them, you should be! 8-)

Looking for guided trip
For both numbers and size, these are currently the dream spots. 50-100 smallmouth, 4-6 lbs is possible. If it REALLY SUCKS you might only get half that! 8-)

I think I'm ready to say it...
He's worse than that, he's a hazard to the sport. There is a big difference between aggressive and careless. Regardless of his actions, Junior is immune to formal criticism or disciplinary action.I have not watched a race since Junior took out 17 cars, including the leaders, while "racing" to become the Lucky Dog! >

Plastic Or Pork?
When the bite is tough, pork is sometimes a more effective presentation. I just consider Uncle Josh pork another alternative, but it is a little harder to work with than plastic. 8-)
