  1. Geez! Those are monsters! 8-)
  2. You will be miles ahead stepping up just a bit and buying the Shimano Symetre 2500. Smooth, strong, silent and reliant is Shimano's motto. Over the years, they have lived up to this promise on all the reels I have owned. The Shimano Symetre is a great reel and will last a lifetime with proper maintenance. I highly recommend this reel to you. 8-)

    Salute! 8-)
  4. Thanks George. That's a great post with some nice fish, too! p.s. How come the guide caught the biggest bass? : 8-)
  5. Well, I swing both ways! By treating the lines with KVD Line & Lure Conditioner, memory is greatly reduced (almost zero). I like the orginal Hybrid better in the water: green is virtually invisible in clear water and smoke blends well in the stained water I generally fish. I am currntly fishing both Hybrid and Hybrid Ultra Soft. I think most people will be much happier with Ultra Soft on their spinning equipment, but it is not as important on baitcasting gear. 8-)
  6. The St. Croix Avid series are great rods at their pricing point. Virtually every combination of length, power and action is available in this line-up. For the money, I consider the Avids to be the "Best Value". 8-)
  7. Wow! You have some great pics anyway! 8-)

Okay guys, has everyone had their say? Good night Irene.
  9. Posted a picture and measurements. Weighed the fish 8.8 - 9.5. I punched it up on the calculator and it said 9.6. You can't always tell the weight of a fish based on a picture, but that's certainly in the ballpark. 8-)
  10. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  11. Possible problems: 1. Spooled on backwards, creating twist 2. Over spooled 3. Line is too heavy Any of these or some combination will reek havoc! 8-)
  12. Our calculator (Tacklebox at the top of the page) says 24" X 17" = 9.6 lbs. Nice fish, congratulations! 8-)
  13. I like a big splash and loud country music to get their attention. "Quiet" is not my style. Seriously, I don't think it makes a difference, it's a matter of where the fish are and their level of activity. That's the main difference between baitfish imitators and a finesse approach (soft plastic and jigs). 8-)
  14. Of course the is!!! Dottties year class has to have a few survivors Eating the same forage and . It is hard for me to believe there are not many, many fish over 23 pounds!! You may never see a one but they are there. They don't get huge by taking every offering. IMHO another 25# will show up within the next 4 years. And It will be worth a few million!!! I truly believe all the above!!! And don't forget, "All fishermen are liars except me and you, and I'm not sure about you!" The Kali boys reported Dottie's "death" several years ago, probably to discourage others from hunting her. I'm sure there are several bass out there well over 22-4. 8-)
  15. Wet Versus Dry Strength - Most anglers know when nylon monofilament absorbs water it loses some of its strength. Yo-Zuri HYBRID, because of its high fluorocarbon content and double fluorocarbon coating, is 100% waterproof. HYBRID will retain 100% of its dry knot and tensile strength even after a full day of fishing. This is the link in its entirety: http://www.yo-zuri.com/Products/Prodline/Hybrid.htm 8-)
  16. You might want to give Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft a try. These lines do not absorb water and they float! 8-)
  17. Spinning tackle: Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test) Baitcasting gear: Ultra Soft #12 (.013" diameter, 19.5 lb test) 8-)

Would LBH be entitled to a rebate? :
  20. I have been working through this for the last several years. Both in-laws have now passed. Neither had any "quality-of-life" for some time. When it's my turn, pull the plug!
  21. I like the new one, the 5 lber! : Great fish! 8-)
  22. A decade or more ago I watched my last soccer match. After three (?) overtimes, the score was still locked, 0 - 0. Four hours or so of nothing and the World Cup is decided on a free kick! That was it for me... :
  23. This might help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1196114229 8-)
  24. You have the rod? No, my response was to explain rating broadly as they apply to all rods. The rating provides guidance for the designed capabilities of the equipment. That would "generally" apply to any rod regardless of the manufacturer. 8-)
