Geez... Anyhow, I carry both but haven't used a Spook in four, maybe five years. The Sammy is far superior in every way. Now, having said that, if it's all about cost, the Zara Spook is a proven producer. 8-)

I own five St. Croix, three Avids and two Legend Elite. I own two G. Loomis. Unless you are buying an IMX or GLX, the St. Croix Avid is a better rod. There are comparable or better rods from other manufactures for anything less than an IMX. 8-)

The IMX is the best rod you can buy at the pricing point, PERIOD. The GLX series is a dream. I HIGHLY recommend it for your jig rod and any finesse fishing. I have the GLX MBR844C as my dedicated jig rod; I have the PR844S for smallmouth fishing. They make a difference, trust me! 8-)

Rig the Slug-Go weightless. I prefer a 4/0 or 5/0 Round Bend Hook, but they can be fished on Offset Worm Hooks, too. Play with the bait in clear water for awhile so you can see the lure's action. I like to twitch the bait so that it immitates feeding minnows.

Don't have a Carrot Stix, but I loves me some Avid. I own three: AS66MLF, AC66MF and AC70MM. I also own the ES70MM which is my soft plastics rod and a EC70MHF for swimbaits and other "heavy" lures. St. Croix is a name you can "take to the bank". 8-)

Another St. Croix: Avid AC66MF This is a rod that allows you to work topwater and jerkbaits efficiently. I consider this my "all-around" baitcaster. It is also my go-to rod for spinnerbaits, medium weight cranks, buzzbaits and any "moving" lure. 8-)

Well, I mentioned on another thread that I am experimenting with #15 Yo-Zuri Hybrid on a couple of baitcasters. This is thicker line than I normally fish and this knot seems to work very well. I was just looking for some other opinions if anyone else was tying the same knot. It's new to me. What I like is the tie-end on the outside which might reduce any "cutting" from multiple loops. It is very similar to the San Diego Jam, but the tag only goes through the top as opposed to bottom and top. On thinner line I might be concerned about slippage, but not with thicker diameters. Just curious if anyone had tried it? 8-)

What are you using the motor for? This is a fishing forum, are you sure this is where you wanted to be?

I fished P-Line CXX before moving to Yo-Zuri. It's strong and tough, but has a lot of memory, especially in cold weather. Their Floroclear is a fluorocarbon coated line. It broke ocassionally while casting which I found unacceptable and lost confidence in the line. 8-)

Ultra Soft was designed with spinning tackle in mind because of the issues surrounding memory. I don't like memory when using baitcasting equipment either. For spinning gear, I recommend Ultra Soft #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test). 8-)

I recommend Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #12 (.013" diameter, 19.5 lb test). This is a bonded (not coated) fluorocarbon/ nylon copolymer. The line is highly abrasion resistant and in use, has virtually no memory. Ultra Soft is impervious to water and UV light, never gets old, and it floats! 8-)

Lucky Craft Sammy 128 is my top producer. George Welcome posts some great success with the Chug Bug. For something different, I HIGHLY recommend the Cavitron buzzbait. 8-)
