  1. I sent you an e-mail, give me a call. -Kent
  2. Last Saturday on Pickwick On the Forum I have stated that "everything works in the spring, pick your favorite lures". Saturday I pre-rigged 10 rods, four on deck, six stored. I fished most lures for 30 minutes, whether I caught fish or not. Starting with a small Wiggle Wart, snagged three "keepers" before changing rods. The only lures that didn't produce were jigs and spinnerbaits. I attribute the jig failure to fishing too fast, my partner was scootin' down the bank and that's just not my deal with a jig. The guides I talked with said it's too early for topwater and spinnerbaits, but I went with them anyhow. The Cavitron produced several strikes and 1 small bass. Nothing on 2 different spinnerbaits. Best structure was gravel bars, shallow. However, this trip was all about numbers so we didn't fish much in deeper water. Overall, mostly green fish and one brown. The big bass was +/- 4 lbs, our five best were around 13 lbs or so. We caught bass throughout the day. If I were fishing to win, I would have stayed with medium depth crankbaits all day: Wiggle Wart, Rapala Shad Rap, XCalibur Xr50, Bandit 200, LC Rick Clunn 3.5 and Bagley BII. "Moving" baits seemed to be key. However, soft plastics were effective. My big fish was caught on a Rage Tail Lizard, C-rigged on rip rap in about 8' of water. Found one more before moving to the next presentation. This was another rig I could have probably fished all day. I think we will be on a topwater bite by May1. 8-)
  3. Well, the reel is designed for slow, big and deep cranking. You bought the wrong reel. The E7 is the one you need. Put it up for trade on our Flea Market, you might find someone interested in an even swap.
  4. Nice fish, great pics! 8-)
  5. I was rooting for a picture of the new California State Record. Maybe you will have a shot again next year. 8-)

  7. We have some locals coming that will probably complete the deal. I don't think anyone will be left on the bank.
  8. Geez... I'm forced to keep up with this thread and my head is full. Good night Irene. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  9. Count on acquiring Big Ben. He will bring back "The Tradition". :
  10. Well, now you're being silly. Either rely on other's advice or gain experience over time. The real test is fishing the equipment. Overall sensitivity is a function of the lure, line, rod and reel. The rod itself is just part of the equation. Your personal "feel" is as important as anything else. Until you develop this feel, it is hard to appreciate the attributes of more sensitive gear. 8-)
  11. Green pumpkin with black flakes Black with blue flakes Black with red flakes I also like clear with silver glitter 8-)
  12. Try a Swimming Senko or Keitech Swing Impact. 8-)
  13. That's some great advice. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  14. Sensitivity is a "relative" term. State a price and you will get some specific advice. If you can afford one of these, trust me, just buy it! http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1271719078 -Kent
  15. If you want to get together Saturday or Sunday morning for a couple of hours, send me a PM and we will fish one of my ponds. We will be fishing in Germantown. -Kent
  16. I have been fishing a little further south, on Pickwick, but I suspect things are very similar. The good news is big numbers. Location: 4-8' water off gravel banks Lures: Lipless crankbaits, Bandit 200, small Wiggle Warts, jerkbaits, buzzbaits, Keitech Swim Impact 4.8" Fat swimbait and shaky head. Last Saturday on Pickwick On the Forum I have stated that "everything works in the spring, pick your favorite lures". Saturday I pre-rigged 10 rods, four on deck, six stored. 17. Offered in the Flea Market for $70 http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1271331248
  18. The recommendations will boil down to "preference". I "prefer" Shimano. So, the Citica 200E would be my choice. 8-)
  19. I might have said "most fisherman get bit on the fall" which I think is usually the case when flipping. However, I rarely flip and nearly every fish I have ever caught on a jig has come as a result of lying still on the bottom or being moved after sitting. -Kent
  20. We must fish differently. Reaction strikes don't approach 95 % or even a majority of the time. When fishing jigs and bottom contact soft plastics, the vast majority of hits are feeding bites. 8-)
  21. At last year's Roadtrip Big O talked with the guys about many things, but what I remember most was a particular conversation about color. The point he made is that having exactly the "right" color can make good fishing better. For most of us, color selection may be a low priority, but when ounces count, color counts! 8-)
