  1. I have had several different dreams about being back at work. What I don't understand is why did I start having so many crazy dreams when I retired. I didn't have dreams very often when I was still working. If my knees weren't so bad I wouldn't mind working part time.
  2. If A Jay would leave the snow on the yard he wouldn't have to worry about the grass or the leaves.
  3. Thank you for the info. I had been thinking about getting back in to crappie fishing. The extent of my knowledge of it is hang a minnow on a hook under a cork. I am surprised you are using M/H rods. I had thought about getting some in a M/L or light action. I guess I can use use my bass rods for this. I was given a pan fish kit years ago I never have used. I just need to figure out which colors are the best.
  4. It's time to tell the truth. The only way I could catch 5 to get in to double digits would be in my dreams. I think I caught one about 3 pounds back early in the season. What is odd for me is the last fish I caught this year was a smallmouth about 1.5 pounds. This was a really lousy year for me.
  5. I bring everything in for the winter. It is all stored in my basement for cleaning and repairs. I cleaned everything out of my boat for the winter. I bring rods and reels in after every fishing trip. I don't like leaving them in the garage or in the rod box.
  6. Anything I would tell you has already been covered. The only thing said I disagree with is about the gas tank. I have always been told to leave the tank full with fuel stabilizer in it. This is what I have done and had no problems. My boat is stored in my garage when i'm not using it.
  7. I cleaned up the leaves off of my yard today. Have a 29 year old Cub Cadet rider with twin baggers on it. The sad part is all of the leaves belong to my neighbors. I only have one tree and it lost its leaves a while back.
  8. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  9. I am done for the year. We have had the type of conditions here Gundog was talking about. This has been my worst year of fishing in close to 40 years. I also had to have an unexpected knee surgery at the end of July which took me off the water for a while. Next year has to be better I hope.
  10. I don't try to do any long distance casting.I stated in another post I have to sit down to fish due to bad knees. The longest rods I use are 6'6". I work on accuracy much more than distance with my casting.
  11. The new owners are in clothing. That means they will sell fishing stuff in J.C.Penney or Kohls.
  12. While I'm sure this is a really nice item I can stay warm for a lot less money.
  13. Like Topwaterdude I am in the same shape having bad knees. Every job I had was hard physical labor that took its toll on my body. The doctors say knee replacements are my only option. I have to sit down to fish and have to be extremely careful just trying to step up on the casting deck or stepping back down. I just turned 67 and find myself reaching for a spinning rod a little more often to give my shoulders a break. I do still throw crank baits and spinner baits at times.
  14. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  15. The west stayed dry because we got all the rain here. We already have the wettest fall on record and need less than 3" of rain to have the wettest year on record.
  16. We are still real men. We have enough brain cells still working that tell us putting on several layers, using hand warmers and gloves for fishing is not fun. I am already done for the year and have started winterizing my boat. If you want to freeze your petunias off go right ahead.

When did your wife take cooking lessons from my wife?
  20. I failed to mention in my post I was working for the school board. I had 21 years with them. I was lucky I had decent benefits and retirement from the state. Finding a job that offers good benefits is your best option I believe but not many companies want to do that now. My wife retired from a job that had zero benefits. We both draw social security plus my retirement to live on but we will be okay. Good luck in getting things going better for you.
  21. Years ago I used Bang fish attractant in a spray can. I believe it was garlic scent. I couldn't tell it did anything to help me get more bites. I haven't used any scents since then.
  22. Like Scott F I also retired from working on commercial food service equipment and freezers and coolers. My retirement started at the beginning of 2015 and I was 63. My knees were so bad I couldn't keep doing this. I miss some of the people I worked with and I have been back to see them and gone to the thanksgiving and Christmas dinners they had. I don't miss the stupidity of management and some of the decisions they made. I try to go fishing once a week during warm weather periods but the weather has really killed that this year.
  23. I went Tuesday with no luck. I even threw a lipless crank bait in a shad pattern. Other crank baits with no luck. Had a few minor bites on soft plastics. Water temp was 55 to 60 degrees depending on what part of the lake I was on. To top it all off before I left I hit a stump with the trolling motor and broke part of bracket assembly. Guess i'm done for the year. Now I have to find out what it will cost me to get the bracket fixed or replaced.
  24. Forget the couch. I become best friends with my recliner when the weather gets that cold. If I did go brain dead and try to fish in cold weather I would probably try a drop shot.
