Black Grape & Candy Bug
Hope you have better luck than I did. I tried them in this color last year and couldn't get a fish to look at them.

Let us know how they do.

U40 Cork Sealer Changing Cork Color
My rods are all fairly old and had seen a lot of use before I ever did anything to take care of them. The cork was getting in pretty rough shape before I started cleaning and sealing them.

U40 Cork Sealer Changing Cork Color
I try to do mine once a year. I use Magic Eraser to clean them. If there are any pits or holes I fill them with wood filler. After it dries I sand it smooth with some 220 grit sandpaper. Then recoat them with U40. Don't try to put it on heavy. A light coating is all you need.

Who knows batteries?
I have 98 Bass Tracker Pro Team 175 with a 40HP motor on it. I put new batteries in it two years ago. I got Interstate batteries. The cranking battery is a 24M-XHD and rated for 800 CCA and 1000 MCA. My last batteries were Interstate and I got seven years out of them.

you buy any high ticket items and not use it?
Like many others I have guns that haven't been shot in a long time. I also have a generator and a snow blower. I will be happy if I never have use either one of them again.

Do Any of You Fish Exclusively for One Type of Bass?
I don't target only one species. If I am fishing a place that has both LMB and SMB I tend to target the SMB just to see if I can figure out the puzzle to catching them.

Winter 2022-23
Our winter day yesterday turned into a major windstorm. We had temp of 81 and winds of 78MPH. It took out a big maple tree across the street from me. Luckily it fell on to another Maple tree to hold it up. It did not hit the house. Lot of damage and power outages throughout the county. Last I heard there were 42,000 people still without power. Have been very lucky and kept our power on so far. I tried to post a picture but I can't get it sized right to work.

What's your favorite all around monofilament weight (for casting setups)?
I use 12# on most of mine. I use florocarbon for Texas rigs and jigs. If I had to use mono for that I go up to 14#

The latest sale thread
Got my BPS spring sale flyer today. Haven't had a chance to check it yet to see if they have anything on sale I might actually need.

Is rod/reel aesthetics super important to you?
I won't buy any rods in the bright green, orange, white, or any other bright obnoxious color. I also want a full cork grip. Don't want any split grip rods. Other than that as long as it works like it should it is okay with me.

if you come across a fisherman struggling..do you help?
I have helped people on the water before. Towed people in to the boat ramp a few times and been towed in. Helped people with the fishing. Have given them some soft plastics and told them the places where I had caught some.

Spare Prop
Like @airshot I have never replaced a prop on the water. Many years ago my first boat was 14' aluminum V hull. I had two motors for this boat. One was a 12HP and the other was an 18HP. I don't remember which motor this happened with. I was fishing one time and had to replace the shear pins three times on the water that day. Spent more time replacing shear pins than I did fishing.

Spare Prop
I have spare props for the outboard and the trolling motor and the tools to change them. Also have spare spark plugs. Have several old props that need to be rebuilt but since I put a SS prop on the outboard I never worried about getting them fixed.

Anyone still using Storm Subwart?
I found two of them in a tackle box I haven't used in years. I think they are the smaller ones. They never caught anything but they haven't been used much either. One is a baby bass color and the other one is a shad color. I never thought about using them for smallmouth. I may have to put them in another box and try them when I might be able to catch a smallmouth.
