Good Day Gone Bad.
I was lucky since they were able to push them on through to remove them. The way one of them was positioned I was worried about damaging a tendon or ligament in my thumb.

Yes the bait is just fine. I will have to get some treble hooks to replace the one I cut off. I don't have any the right size.

Good Day Gone Bad.
I thought about cutting some braid off of my spinning rod to try pulling them out. I was by myself and wasn't sure if I could handle pulling two hooks out at once. I got my wire cutters and cut them off the treble and had two separate hooks. There was nobody at the ramp when I put in or when I left. This one was around 15" or 16". The other one I caught was around 14". I was surprised to catch them on a shallow running square bill with water temps of 86 degrees. I was throwing a brand new bait just to try it out.

Good Day Gone Bad.
Got to go fishing yesterday for the first time in about a month. Drove an hour to get to the lake. Fished about 45 minutes and caught my second bass of the day. Caught both fish on a brand new 6th Sense crankbait. I thought I had a good hold on the fish where I would be okay. Wrong. Fish flopped and stuck two of the treble hooks in my hand right behind my thumb. I get the needle nose out and get me and the fish separated. I have taken these out before but the way one of them was in I was worried about removing it myself. So I put everything up, go back to the ramp, load up and go home. Get the boat put in the garage and go spend over three hours in the ER to get the hooks removed. All seems to be okay now and hoping things go better the next time.

Red Worms
The Zoom Red Bug color is the only red I have had any luck with. I know a guy that swears by the Cherry Seed color and I can't get a fish to even look at it.

How do you store your rods?
I also have a round rod rack from BPS like @MIbassyaker that holds 24 rods but mine does not rotate. All the drags and spool tension knobs are backed off and all have rod covers. This is in my basement. I keep mine down there until I'm ready to go fishing so they aren't exposed to extreme heat in the garage.

Life long fishing and hunting license, NH
We don't have a lifetime license in Kentucky. The seniors license used to be free. Then they started charging $5.00 for it. Now it is $12.00 but it is a combination license that includes hunting, trout stamp, deer and turkey and other permits you have to buy extra if you aren't over 65. They don't do me any good as I don't do any hunting anymore.

Can anyone recommend a quality PFD?
I have also been looking to replace my life jacket. I have to agree with @Choporoz about them. I want a good comfortable foam type if I can find one. I know I would be too lazy or forgetful change out the kits every so often in the auto inflate type. It is also another expense I don't need. I just can't make myself trust them to work when I would need it the most. Since I am in a boat I don't wear mine 100% of the time even though I should.

Cast Control Knob and Potential Reel Damage
I also have several of the Curado 200 reels. The level wind quit working on one of mine. I started using it for a parts reel. I took some of the copper spacers out of it and added them over the existing spacers in my others to get my tension knob working again.

Worm hook + baby brush hog?
The 3/0 is as big as you need to go. To me the 4/0 is too big.

Jim Beam Fire May Impact the Kentucky River
Saw the story on the local news tonight. They say a large fish kill is already showing up. They think it has gone about 30 miles downstream now but the more it travels it will get diluted more and be less of a problem. It will wipe out one the best smallmouth fishing areas around here.

Best style of jig for texas rig like hopping the bottom?
I am by no means a jig expert but I will try to help you. I usually use a football jig in 3/8 or 1/2 ounce. Most of the time I use blk&blue or pb&j. I like to match my trailers to the jig. I use a Zoom Ultra Vibe Speed Craw or Twin Tail Grub. I'm sure a lot of guys will post there ways to fish it. Every body likes to do it there own way.

Jim Beam Fire May Impact the Kentucky River
The fishing in the Kentucky River has not been real good for several years. The DFW has fishing there rated as poor right now due to so much rain and flooding we have been having the last few years. I did not get to fish it all last year and have fished it once so far this year.

FISHING GEAR FOR UNDERSPIN

summer fishing is making it hard
There is one lake I fish where the water temp hits 90*f. I have never had any luck there when it is that hot.

Braid
I recently bought a spool of braid to try on a spinning rod. I will try it on one setup to see how it works before I try it on anything else. The guys in our local tackle shop say they love it for spinning rods but it offers no big advantage on baitcasters.

Do you prefer to fish alone??
I fish alone most of the time. Occasionally my wife goes with me but she doesn't like to be out on the water as long as I do. Usually make it a shorter trip when she is with me. I have fished with others and it was usually enjoyable. Now that we are all getting up in age most people I know can't go and the ones that can are at work through the week.
