  1. Quantum Nitrous baitcaster - the rod I put it on was alright...the reel sucked.
  2. Back when I had the runabout I'd go fishing with a friend on occasion...but he moved. Then the runabout was sold and I was without a boat for 15 years. The canoe was basically a one-person fishing craft, and Bass Trek is also set up for basically one person, though two could fish out of it in a pinch. Other than that, the only time I've fished with someone else in the last 40 years was the guided trip two weeks ago. I'm a hermit type...enjoy being by myself.
  3. I'd be happy getting a used PowerDrive with remote for a bargain price to replace my Edge
  4. I check every lure/hook I buy...can't tell you how many times I've had to 'dress up' a brand new hook cause it wasn't sharp enough. And as Glenn said, sharpening a hook on the water is just a few second really.
  5. Minnetonka is about as pressured as you can get...and I've caught both bass and pike on WP-90s.
  6. Great overview of both and the reasons to use one over the other, Glenn.
  7. So much for the nay-sayers who say buying Ploppers is a waste of money. Me, I love tossing Ploppers...
  8. I just did a little search and found this nugget of information "Piscifun reels are made in the same factory as Daiwa reels. The Piscifun Carbon X has the same frame and bearings as a Tatula reel." https://tacklevillage.com/where-are-piscifun-reels-made/
  9. Closer to the middle the better - gives the worm a balanced flutter on the drop
  10. Agree with Slone - and given some elbow grease and a few skills, this is what you can turn that 14' 'fishing boat' into.
  11. Is Minnetonka still listed for the Midwest? Last few years it has been.
  12. Depends on the co-poly...I'm going on year 3 with the 12# YZH on my crank rig...still no issues....though I did reverse it this past winter.
  13. ^ Not a probably - full clean/relube should be done at least every two years, more often if you get out frequently. The guy who's out 3-4+ times a week...probably a full clean mid-season as well as before the season starts. I'm only out once a week...if that often...and I still do a clean/relube every spring.
  14. I started at age 7 with a cheap casting rig I got from an ad on the back of a comic book. Dad saw how much I loved fishing, but having problems with that reel, so for my 8th birthday got me a Mitchell 320 on a Berkley rod. Had that reel until I couldn't find parts for it anymore...mid-late 80s - no Internet.
  15. Don't feel too bad - next door here...state record is 8lb15oz
  16. Nope - perfectly reasonable actually...if that happened to a new reel of mine, I'd take it up with the manager. Course I spool my own reels, so there is that.
  17. Today is Nora's and my 33rd anniversary - she always gets me a 'cute' t-shirt. This one is apropos - as back in late 1988 we first met online in an AOL chat-room...me in MN, her in FL...met face-to-face about 5 months later...married 15 months after that.
  18. A spool of 17# mono or hybrid on a spinner yields the same results.
  19. Plastic welding kit - if you have prime, you can have it in hand tomorrow - https://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Soldering-Temperature-Indicator-Dashboard/dp/B0BBMDSGMR/ref=sr_1_54?keywords=plastic%2Bwelder&qid=1687526979&sr=8-54&th=1
  20. It's probably the sales manager and finance manager who are using them...you don't take 'company cars' away from upper management.
  21. Believe it or not, the spinning blades help 'clear a path', plus the hook-point is in line with the wire...kinda acts like a weed-guard on a jig.
  22. Oh come on, NB - there's probably someone out there who'd pay.
  23. Those and Skinny Dippers are probably my most used paddletails.
