  1. Let's blame @Deephaven as he's always tooting about how well frogs work on Tonka for him.
  2. I have RES, Rattlin' Raps, V-Blades and One Knockers - and yes, they like to grab weeds and hold on...but the catch rate makes me put up with that - now if I can only convince the pike to quit biting them off.
  3. Welcome to the club - may it bring you many years of enjoyment.
  4. Does he ever shut up? Not in my experience.
  5. Go low, my good man Scheels has the previous generation Garmin Echomap UHD 93SV with the GT-54 transducer on sale for $700 - yes, it's compatible with Livescope. https://www.scheels.com/p/garmin-echomap-uhd-93sv-fish-finder/75375928499.html
  6. Dislike: Jerkbaits - can't seem to get my cadence down...I know - practice...practice...practice Can't stand: Buzzbait - I dunno...there just seems to be something wrong with it...a 'spinnerbait' should not break the surface that much - nudge it occasionally, but not skip across it. Can't catch Bass: T-Rig - I've tried weight variations, plastics variations, color variations, retrieve variations...I think the bass are laughing at me. Or you could just donate to PAA Poor Anglers of America - founding member right here.
  7. Sufix 832 Hi-Vis Yellow and Yo-Zuri Superbraid Hi-Vis Yellow are much more visible to me than Smackdown Flash Green - yes, I've tried all three.
  8. Then the Medium would be all you really needed...don't need a Medium-Heavy to toss those. Though once you factor in the hook, blades and skirt on a spinnerbait, you're getting close to the top-end for a Medium - the printed weight is only the head...the other items add weight to that....1/2oz spinnerbait actually weighs close to 5/8 oz. Though putting a trailer on a spinnerbait isn't all that difficult. Might be time to up your game? No, it's not quite as nice as a Procyon - I have a Procyon L/F that I use for ultra-finesse - but it is a pretty decent rod-line.
  9. I have the Reflexions A MH/F spinning rod and it does quite well for what I bought it for. Far as 1/2oz lures on it - ya, it's towards the bottom end of the rating, but it will cast them fairly well...if you're talking 1/2oz spinners/chatters with trailer, then you're into 3/4-7/8oz territory total and it does very well with those.
  10. Other than the mouth looks too small - I'd say it was a Green Sunfish....
  11. Zoom Trick Worm - floats and thinner so it 'waves' easier in the mild current we have in the natural lakes up here.
  12. Like MMB said - plain stainless steel guides are probably the worst when it comes to holding up to braid. Ceramic inserts should be the minimum.
  13. ^ LS is right on target.
  14. Good news - that damage looks pretty bad, but no loss of life for all that is something to be grateful for. I remember the sirens and heading for shelter the 4 years I was stationed at Offutt...NE tornadoes are nothing to ignore.
  15. Well, Tonka is up - last month the tops of the second course of blocks at Coffee Cove were 5-6" above the waterline - was out there a couple days ago and the water is lapping at the tops...and the wind was enough to splash water over the tops.
  16. Meanwhile - every piece of tackle I own, fits in the boxes that fit in the storage compartments.
  17. The way he's going, he's gonna have to put an addition on it.
  18. Rip spinnerbaits through them Wacky rig - let the worm flutter down into them Jig worm brushed across the top of the weeds. Just a few ideas.
  19. ? When you can get a Nilight for $15.
  20. Replacing a ceramic insert is something that really can't be done DIY....best bet is just to replace the entire guide - it's not difficult, just putzy.
  21. I have only one thing to say about my yard
  22. ^ Local guy I go to for all my work has owned an independent repair shop for 30 years...so he's beholden to no one brand. His recommendation is to go OEM when ever possible...only go aftermarket if you can't find an OEM part (he works on some really old vehicles occasionally)
