  1. The hard part will be finding a toy bird specific rod and reel to use with it. ? If it works I hope you have a reliable supply of them.
  2. I wish people understood the difference between a lure brand and a lure company.
  3. That’s what I was thinking.
  4. I’ve been very pleased with Japan Lure Shop and Japan Tackle.
  5. Not a lot of water here so no reason not to graph all of the interesting structure that's less than 40 feet deep and see what's down there. The most interesting structure to me is the point with the fish symbol but there are others that also look good. As fall approaches I'd look for bait fish moving into that cove at the top.
  6. A single Zebco spin caster on an Ugly Stick is the bare minimum. Everything beyond that is a luxury.
  7. That's very scary stuff. Glad no one was hurt.
  8. I had several 50+ fish days years before I caught my first 5 lb bass. Once I figured out how to catch bigger fish I started catching multiple 5+ fish a year. The skills you need to catch bigger fish are harder to master than the skills you need to catch a bunch of dinks. I don’t think an angler whose PB is 10 pounds is necessary better than one whose PB is 6 pounds. That said, if you’ve caught over 1000 fish in your life and you’ve never caught a “big” fish then you have not mastered the hard skills.
  9. Have you looked at it from another direction? For example moving from the bank out.
  10. Rap-a-la is the correct way but as a southerner I'm not bound by any notions of proper pronunciation. It's Ra-pala for me and I ain't changing.
  11. Let me do the math. about 237 years. ?
  12. I always had a goal weight in mind for the tournament. That depends on many factors. How many boats are in the tournament and how many positions are they paying. What is the lake capable of producing. What is my confidence level going in. Is the tournament part of a trail that I’m competing in. Most importantly, how did pre fishing go. I’ve gone in thinking it would take 20 lbs to win and I could do it. In that case it’s a waste of time to catch a limit of small ones first. Other tournaments I’ve gone in just hoping to weigh a few pounds to stay in the angler of the year race. In those tournaments I usually just kept a Texas rig in the water as much as possible hoping for a few bites.
  13. Given the choices in your multiple choice question. I’m going with c) something a little meatier.
  14. How are you breaking so many rods? I’ve been fishing almost 60 years and never broken a rod while fishing. I guess I’m not trying hard enough.?
  15. In the spring the sun warms the water at the surface and the wind blows that warm water. So in the spring I would expect your lakes to warm up on the north side first due to your prevailing winds from the south. Fish prefer to spawn in sheltered locations so spots that are sheltered from the prevailing winds from the south would be preferred.
  16. You can always buy one of these. https://www.harborfreight.com/100-amp-612v-battery-load-tester-61747.html
  17. That’s enough to make a man quit fishing while they’re still biting.?
  18. Nothing is to good for my reels. I use unicorn tears harvested on a full moon. Very hard to find a reliable source. I buy mine from an old lady at the farmers market. It’s organic of course. $700 for a 2 oz bottle. It smells a lot like 3-In-1 machine oil but the stuff is magic on a fishing reel.
  19. I use to feel the same way until I tried a bait caster that’s designed for braid. I can cast 0.004 inch diameter braid on my Diawa Silver Wolf as well as I can on a spinning reel.
  20. I have no sympathy for them. It may be 125 degrees but it’s a dry heat. ?
  21. With the exception of Chic-fil-A, I’m not aware of any chain restaurant around here that has enough employees to function properly. The locally owned and operated ones are doing fine.
  22. I didn’t realize they still played the World Series. ?
  23. I'm no longer a working stiff. I used to work for a company that would let us use sick leave for "Legal Matters". I used it for fishing. Of course I made sure my fishing license was up to date so it would be "legal".
  24. I’ll take our weather back from you as soon as the Texas boys take theirs back from us.
