  1. Well lets try this again. We went to Lake fork the first part of this week to fish with Tom Redington. On our drive down my 16 year old son and I ended up with the flu and a very miserable start to our trip. He missed all of Sundays fishing and I missed 1/2 of the day. The weahter forecasters missed the temps on Saturday by 20' and the weather went down hill from there never giving us the water warm up that we anticipated. However that didn't stop our guide, Tom Redington from taking terrible conditions and making the absoulute best out of bad. He educated us and answered my mirage of questions from graphs, presentations, rod/reels, line and the list goes on. Besides his vast knowledge of fishing and especially fishing on Lake Fork he is one of the most quality individuals I've had the privledge to share 2 1/2 days with. Well lets try this again. I also had the priviledge of having breakfast Monday morning with our own Ringfry from Kansas. Was a pleasure meeting you Jon. All that being said one of the 9 fish we caught gave me my new PB by 5 oz. Thanks Tom 7#5oz Lake Fork largemouth thats ready to spawn

  3. Im heading to Lake Fork to fish with Tom Redington and am spooling my reels with 50# Suffix braid. My questions are as follows. 1. How much line fill prior to the braid, (I'm Cheap)? 2. How much braid per reel? 3. How many reel turns per yard of line on a 6:2:1,7:0:1and 6:4:1 ratio? Thanks guys! GO BIG RED
  4. Thanks Catt, have been there picture drooling since we booked the trip. Right now I'm stringing reels and trying to get over being cheap. Tom says 50# + and I hate the thought of stripping it off when I get home to go lighter. And thanks again for preparing Pelini for NE. GO BIG RED
  5. Going to fish with Tom Redington for 2 1/2 days at the end of the month. Please lets only post positive trips, no negative thoughts. :( We spent 5 days last year and 3 of those days I was the only one out of 3 to boat a fish. 25 total in 5 days with 3 fisherman, quality not quantity but cant wait to get back GO BIG RED
  6. The "stringer appears to be a cull stringer.
  7. I fish with both. The curados are in my hand most of the time. If budget is an issue you wont be unhappy with a citica. If not buy the curado. Rod
  8. RWHusker: My first and middle initiial and then the team I spend my time following. Only game in town in Nebraska. Rod
  9. Are we having fun yet guys? GO BIG RED
  10. Bassin, I'm 47 and chewed for 18 years and have not had a chew for the past 16.5 yrs. The first year was one of the most difficult one of my life. I am so thankful to have it behind me. My best friend and roommate in college quit for 12 and restarted this year and is as addictied as ever. I tried all sorts of substitutes, Leaf, Cigars but always ended up back at Skoal. The patch helped my buddy quit. What finally did it for me was looking at a baby boy (who btw is now 16.5) and my wife asking if that Skoal was going to be part of the legacy I handed down to him? I wanted to smack her But in the end it was a good question. Good luck, go walk or exercise. Fishing/golfing/hunting does become fun again without chewing. (Sucks the 1st year). PM for encouragement. Rod
  11. Well time for me to chime in. I'm surprised but not shocked to the score. Congrats to KU and their fans, and I have no problem with the score. I get tired of the running it up crap. If you don't want the score ran play defense. Nebraskans cheered like crazy when we were providing those beatings now its our turn to be gracious realizing we get to take a little of the medicene we enjoyed giving. As for Tom Osborne running up the score. Most of those scores came when Nebraska was the visitor and playing with a travel roster of 60 players. When you're limited to who you can through in to mop up because they're better than the others starters what are you to do, tell them to lay down. Hey Live, its easy to be the best fans in America when you've had nothing but winning for 40 years. I hope we will continue to earn that designation as we rebuild. I'm confident we will but it has become more difficult to stomach this crap. I guess I have a greater fear of turning ugly from within not to the other opponents. As always, GO BIG RED
  12. My son ran his first 2 cell phones through the wash and no luck in getting them to work. He paid for the next one and amazingly its never been close to the washing machine. GO BIG RED
  13. Not bad for a wildcat. Congrats on the PB Filemob. GO BIG RED
  14. Thanks Matt, I want to get down to Texas in Dec or Jan and it's always encouraging to see/hear the biguns reports. Rod
  15. If your not connected to a lake with guides your all but screwed. Fishermen for the most part are cheap, our local tackleshop, which by the way sponsered the weekly report just went under after the opening of a BPS and Cabela's. As Avid and Raul said this may satisfy a passion but hard to build a 401k. Go make your fortune and fish for fun. GO BIG RED
  16. Im with Zel. It its not going to be me it won t be much fun for them. If that doesn't work, drop trough and take a dump in the water. Go Big Red
  17. U2 fisher, I hope lane doesnt run to Omaha on us. GO BIG RED
  18. By the way I will be attending "The BuyOut Bowl" in person on Saturday. I will report on the saddend state of 2 once proud programs. GO BIG RED
  19. Callahans buyout will be much less than the entire contract amount. It had a year to year option at the descretion of the University. Approximately 3 to 4 million. It was given to him for the sole purpose of evening out the recruiting playing field of other Big XII coaches who was using the 1 year left to their advantage. We will now probably lose the entire 2008 recruiting class that currently ranks at #7 nationally. Sad times ahead again for Nebraska. Hopefully we can right the ship. GO BIG RED
  20. Yeah, thats all we need. GO BIG RED
  21. Well I guess I'll chime in! This series of mistakes started with Dr. Tom insisting on Frank Solich as his replacement. Frank was a very loyal assistant but didn't have the Head Coaching skills it takes to recruit and run the "business of a Major Program". With that being said we have fallen with poor choices starting with the charactor of Steve Pederson. The mess that was caused in firing Frank and hiring Callahan and the lies in between put us where were at today. Hey Catt, is Bo Pelini's house on the market. He will be the #1 choice of NU and A&M in my opionion. He also may be offered the LSU job when Miles takes over for Lloyd Carr at Michigan. I believe yesteday was a sad day in the NU football program and I hope were all prepared for the fallout and rebuild. This isn't over but it was a start in what I hope is the restoration of a once proud program. GO BIG RED, GO BIG XII Rod
  22. What lake did you catch her in? I grew up in Livingston and had no clue there were large mouth of that size in MT. GO BIG RED
  23. Okay Ed (Senile) homage to your Mizzouri Tigers. Don't get to cocky with Kansas due to the Nebraska win, I think we suck. Lets pick a time and a lake and I'll drive to KC to pay off. (This may be the best wager I've lost). KU I was impressed enough with KU's victory in Manhatten to all but schedule an outing prior to our playing but we have been lucky in the past with the Jayhawks. Watching our pathetic defense and ineffective offense makes me want to puke. As always, GO BIG RED
  24. Why stop at a new camera, he really needs longer arms. Get back in the water soon. GO BIG RED
  25. LBH, I agree. I get between 2 and 3 times the use from a wacky since switching from GY to ***. GO BIG RED
