Chatterbait
I’ve caught 3 fish in two seasons with them, and I do give it a shot. For some reason every time I guy a new jackhammer I cast it off that day. No idea why. I haven’t casted off a lure all summer, bought a jackhammer Saturday cast it off Sunday. Unreal.

Setting Up Curado DC
The spool tension wants to be a little tighter then you think you’ll find the sweet spot and it won’t sacrifice distance. The distance is not a huge difference then the k but is pretty effortless. I still use my thumb at the end of the cast, the sweet spot requires it. It’s the not feathering it in the middle of the cast that gives the distance imo. Put a half ounce lipless on and go play with it. You’ll find the sweet spot with the spool tension and it will be a whoa, moment. Then you won’t have to change much at all with baits in the 3/8-3/4 range. Hope this helps, you’ll get used to it and like it. I casted off a few lures in the beginning, now it’s just fun. I could be wrong here but even with my k, the spool tension just a touch tighter then I think seems to give better distance because it stays more in control throughout the entire cast giving better overall distance. Don’t know how to properly explain that, but that’s been my experience. More of a rifling effect if that makes sense.

Decided on Expride
Thanks for the help in my other thread. Now my thinking, before I decided on the Expride was I gonna get a med powered rod. The Expride should be the most sensitive rod I will have. It makes sense to me it should become my new bottom contact rod. The handful of jigs I have are 3/8 with trailer. The med Expride is 1/4-3/4, that might be pushing it. I also throw allot of weightless rage craws. I can throw them on my other mh, or I’m sure the med Expride would be great for that. Right now I fish from the shore, but next season I will have a fully set up 14’ Jon boat. That is making me think twice about what I thought my small rod collection was gonna be. I can’t help but think a mh Expride should become my new jig, t rig rod. Any suggestions would be great. Sorry so long.

Have you tried the other colors. I fish several ponds with no shad and they bite the other colors.

Med heavy or med?
I’ve been feeling like that lately. I haven’t got the med yet, but I feel like it will be my go to for most places and the stuff I throw.

7 year olds fishing rod/reel combo
Bps has a Ike dude push button combo on a 5’ medium rod I think. I got one for my grandson. The reel is less than desired but the rod is good. I also got him this that he likes better. It a field and stream light fast action with a president size 20. Allot of fun for sunfish. The Ike rod will last along time, the reel can be upgraded all the way to a casting reel.

Looking for a new rod - uses for a 7' medium-heavy/moderate-fast?
Yup, it’s great for what I wanted it for and a few other things. Can’t go wrong for the price. Throw a dc reel on it and it gets even more fun.

It might, I’m probably in the minority but I like to throw spinnerbaits on my fury 705cb($120). I’ve used it for small swimbaits also it did fine.

Knot for heavy flurocarbon
I did look after reading this. Thanks for helping me clarify. I just realized how embarrassing I only do that one knot. But I can do it with my eyes closed. The best knot is the one you know how to tie. That’s pretty week but all I could come up with.

Knot for heavy flurocarbon
I’m sorry but is that the old fisherman’s not my dad did. That’s the only knot I know through the eye, wrap 5-7 times, go through the hole above the hook and then through the whole you just made. I always thought that was the clinch knot.

Casting rod newbie experience, Curado DC
I throw spinnerbaits all the time in mine. As I said in my other post distance is not a huge difference, but you can cast a spinner bait quite a ways. Even into the wind. You wanna have some real fun throw a 3/4 ounce lipless on a crankbait rod with the dc. That distance is pretty mind blowing.
