Got up at 3 am all week to avoid the heat and was on the water before daylight but what's crazy, Caught all my bigger fish around 10 am. A recent thread that I started: When I get to hot, I'm diving overboard but the waters are clean and clear here.

Really nice write up, appreciated. I'm in the contemplating mode myself but I married my financial advisor ?. Hope you enjoy the upgrades.

Jerk baits are the only bait that has produced doubles twice and both times it was Smallmouth. It's actually a mess trying to get them unhooked.

I fish 90% gin clear water and nothing I've found out fishes Drop-shot and Jackall flickShake 4.8......post Spawn.

I've still got concerns with BFS. Love my baitcasters but quite a few lakes I fish have very steep banks " almost vertical " and casting a finesse worm on a 1/16 Wacky head you must keep the bait tight to shore cover to catch fish. Easily done on spinning gear by simply lifting the rod after the cast to create slack and vertical fall. Seems like the bait would struggle to drop vertical with BFS because the spool is added into the equation, not with spinning.

Got on the water at daylight and nothing hit top water so went to a flickShake " Cola " 1/16 VMC wacky and caught 8. Cloudy, calm, water temp 83*

@Koz Pulled it out from under the porch with 4wheeler and discarded. Had already been in contact with DNR about the bears condition.

Can't speak for foxes but mange does kill bears. Had a black bear die under our deck last year of mange. I'd likely not intervene though.

Fluke and Senko are 2 common baits that I throw weightless. Never thought of throwing a Brush hog weightless but do throw it on a 1/16 Shaky head.

You can't fix illiteracy. Was watching 2 guys drinking beer on a jon boat and when they finished them they simply sunk the cans to the bottom of the lake. ?

Extreme heat offers many challenges but I'm getting tired of baby sitting Elaztech ?.

When you gotta kill the engine and trim up...... that's a flat ?. What I consider a flat is something isolated and surrounded by deep water and holds a fishable depth. Some lakes I fish are basically a big swimming pool, no flats.

Nothing tires me more than fishing all day in the heat.

My youngest brother and a friend did a guided trip on the Susq this past April " birthday present from wife ". He claims they never caught anything under 2lbs and many 4's.

I throw a lot of finesse 1/16 - 1/8 and skip a lot so spinning seems like the viable option but may need to keep an open mind.

I order them in bulk and only 1/8 in GP and June bug.......yeah I'm funny like that.

Over population. We have this one particular lake that we fish several times a year with very high catch rates but all small bass.

Been having better luck this year on a Devils horse......by a large margin.
