  1. Ahhh, I remember the days of sitting on the river bank with nightcrawlers and ants would crawl up your shorts. Using brittle expired Stren that would break on a big fish. Night crawler guts under the finger nails. Top guide missing. We had no money but caught a ton of fish.
  2. I usually enjoy Randy's videos but can't say I'm opposed to live scope......my wallet is.
  3. I have and I haven't. It's not necessary unless it is. Has no effect on accuracy. Sometimes the right size rings are a smidge off.
  4. We're heading straight back into winter for the next week, 2 days of snow ❄️ forecasted.........and I just recently started catching fish ?

Ironically my nickname has always been Bird by most. ? Growing up the only sport that I excelled at was basketball and everyone on the team called me " E " ......... Any of you older guys remember Elvin Hayes?
  6. Another consideration with threads like these is what are we willing to spend on a baitcaster to accommodate skipping and casting light tackle. My findings are the price point jumps drastically.........Diawa Steez, Shimano Aldebaran come to mind.
  7. I get what you're say'n, did all those line remedies years ago and had choice words using fluorocarbon. Been using 15# braid and 8# fluoro leader on all spinning, not a single issue.
  8. The water I fish is gin clear and there's days I'm swimming a 3" easy shiner on a 1/16 head to get a bite. Or skipping a fluke way up under a dock. Spinning will always have it's place on my boat.
  9. Fishing a lake in WV.
  10. Airbnb that cabin, seriously...... it's very popular and lucrative around here.
  11. Definitely Guns here. I've got as much tied up in guns as I do my bass boat and use the boat a couple times per week " weather permitting ". I have several firearms that haven't been shot in years, many years.
  12. We have to define " smart ". My IQ would likely be similar to Tiger woods golf score but very mechanically inclined. My wife is very intelligent but has zero common sense. I'm 62, nobody is that good looking at that age ?
  13. Jerkbaits are very effective for both LM and SM bass. My only complaint is, I gotta net every fish in fear of sinking a hook in finger. My favorite way to fish them in lakes is casting horizontal to the bank. Prefer suspending in Bone. Oh, be careful casting them above submerged timber, big fish will take them down and hang. ?
  14. WP 110 in bone but add a buzzbait and spook and I'm covered on top water.
  15. Almost skunked today. Windy, bluebird skies, water temp 46* and managed 1 fish on a Jerkbait.
  16. Winter by far. I still go due to cabin fever but I can't consistently catch LM bass until water temps climb into the 50's. Went today for 4 hrs, water temp was 46* and caught 1 fish on a Jerkbait.
  17. I must not understand this thread or am simply illiterate...... maybe both. Brush hogs, speed craws and creature baits look like a craw to a Bass, doesn't matter what it looks like to us. Bass have to eat, we just need to get close to their menu.
  18. Have you played with the trim during these rough conditions. ? Motor trimmed up leaves less Hull in the water and trimmed down forces the bow down. Had my Lowe out in chop recently and didn't experience " teeth jarring" .
  19. Wind speed trumps wind direction every time but I do pay attention to what direction warmer surface water is being pushed in colder weather. My old wise fishing partner won't fish in an easy wind though. Lol
  20. No additional registration required. If you plan to fish you'll need a license for the state you plan to fish. Most states offer a 3 day license and up for a minimal fee. Various rules and regulations vary from state to state that you must abide by though.......fire extinguishers, throw cushions as examples.
  21. I had my single best day of bass fishing in March of 2022. 1 citation and a 7.1 and a 7.3 all within an hour......a very memorable day.
  22. I have a 10ft Bass Raider and a Bass boat. Use the Bass Raider in rivers and any place that doesn't have a ramp. It's equipped with a 55lb bow mounted Minnkota, Garmin Striker 4 FF. And this is a must with these boats...... installed a drain plug in the rear.

    Welcome to Bass Resources.
  24. And I complain about VA winter being long...... that's wild.
  25. I mainly pay attention to water temps and we're warmer this year compared to last year......by 3 weeks. Today the fish were already staging just off of where they spawn. Trees Tell me when to look for mushrooms ?
