Balsa minnows 2.5” to 6”, I mainly used the 2.5” with Mitchell 308’s with 6 lb line… catches everything that swims. I always throw and let it sit for up to 15 seconds with the slightest subtle movements that might be thought of as an insect fell in the water, retrieve is nearly always constant jerks of the rod as I’m reeling it in. My best smallmouth came on a 4.5” balsa minnow.

I’ve been trying these for an instant coffee the last few weeks. Not cheap but very good. I suggest the Italian or French if you like strong. Can be had at Walmart

Yup cats will smell that chicken raw or otherwise from a long ways. Only trappers realize how strong a sense of smell cats carry. I’d try fruit as Tn said, give him a ripe peach

The monkey won’t mind… I wouldn’t recommend either of those 2 lures even though I have both of those lures (bait monkey problem) but I do have between 300-400 of those Rapala I mentioned (bait monkey problem) there is plenty of reading on here and recommendations. Rapala original floater or a Husky Jerk might have got bit that day, might not have.

Are you familiar with the bait monkey? Regardless I can tell you that you and him is gonna be good pals ?
