  1. I'm running 6' rods most of the time but I think the new heavy I just built for the kayak is a 6'6". I like shorter rods because they are easier to retie and I get stuck in less overhanging trees, lol. I have been thinking about adding another holder. Having a Medium Heavy would be really nice.....
  2. I only bring two, usually a heavy and a medium. Kayak fishing for me is about simplicity. I leave my pile of rods for the bass boat.
  3. Are you looking for an open pour or an injection type mold?
  4. I'm not brand loyal and all of my gear is different styles. The two main preferences I have developed is that I want quality gear ( I don't have time for junk) and that generalist equipment is not appealing to me as I find greater enjoyment from technique specific setups. One constant is that #MatchyMatchy is a driving force for me, lol.
  5. Unfortunately, my face was merely a pit stop on his way back into the water. He released himself and paid me back for piercing his lip.
  6. And extra sunglasses. Sometimes you break the ones you've been wearing or they go over the side. Had a bass leap out of my hands once, slap me in the face and knock my shades into the lake.
  7. I keep some cheap ski goggles in mine. Sometimes it it hailing while we're running. ? Also, some cheap ponchos in a bag.
  8. People are often surprised to hear that fish bite in the rain. I tell them that the fish don't care, they're already wet. LoL
  9. They are using bots to get alerts and make purchases, you have little chance of beating them without a bot of your own until the supply grows enough that there's enough for everyone.
  10. Well, you can drink a lot of beer before you trim anything, or you can use crinkle cut scissors: Or just randomly snip in there to get the desired effect with regular scissors
  11. I have an older boat (20+ years old) and every spring I replace and/or upgrade stuff that either failed the previous season or is looking like it will fail soon. Last year it was redoing all the fuel lines and rebuilding a trailer. Year before it was redoing all the oil lines in the motor and replacing busted latchea. This year it is a total rewire and replacing all the seals around the hatches. If I had a new boat, theoretically I wouldn't have to do these things but what money I was saving from decreased maintenance would be going to the boat loan. So it's going to get me either way, lol.
  12. Probably not to the extreme you have but we have similar situations here in Michigan. I've noticed my catch rate go up by using some extra stealth in the boat. Sonar off, pumps off, trolling motor on minimum power, changing my casting style to not displace tons of air), wearing muted sky colored clothes, staying as far back from where I am fishing as possible, sometimes fishing from a kneeling position, being aware of where my boat's shadow is being cast, etc.
  13. We've got the loud snow coming down right now. Not quite hail, it's having trouble accumulating though.
  14. Welcome from Lansing!
  15. This is what they're talking about: https://www.michaels.com/testors-promotional-enamel-paint-set/10068108.html?r=g&cm_mmc=PLASearch-_-google-_-MICH_Shopping_US_N_Craft+%26+Hobbies_N_Smart_BOPIS_N-_-&Kenshoo_ida=&kpid=go_cmp-9972406265_adg-99939223639_ad-433378147590_pla-981059439317_dev-m_ext-_prd-10068108&gclid=Cj0KCQiA3Y-ABhCnARIsAKYDH7uzernfpezgXKlAFi-tjBpG5Jnt8UnCihavucmNTcUd5oSSrWreGMAaAmp1EALw_wcB That is a kit but there's hundreds of colors available in singles.
  16. Sorry, had a vet emergency. Doggos got into a bloody brawl. That's $717 I'm never getting back.
  17. We experimented with light wire jigs as the weight. This type of thing is common enough in saltwater, should work fine in freshwater.
  18. You can get a metal mesh filter cup and put regular coffee in it. We have a normal sized one for the regular coffee maker. Used grounds go in the compost or tossed out the back door into the garden, no trash generated.
  19. I can relate. I stopped watching TV in 2003 and deleted all my social media in 2012. My life is better for both of those choices. I find that Axios is a refreshing news platform, they tend to just report what happened rather than giving a narrative. I do listen to NPR in the truck but they've been going downhill for a while and are too left leaning sometimes. Other than that, I get information from podcasts and tend my Google news feed like a digital garden.
  20. I like to eat jerky for breakfast and I keep some peanuts on the boat if I get crazy hungry. Usually my body just ignores the hunger until I get back to land where a wave of starvation overtakes me. My fishing partner needs lots of snacks onboard though, if his blood sugar gets kinda low, he gets really cranky. ? For long practice days I occasionally have one of the MREs we keep onboard.
  21. I drink the cheap coffee my wife buys from Aldi. I call it Columbian Dirt Tea. LoL
  22. Ah, a genuine Edge sticker and a bonus tray. What a deal! LoL
  23. To finally install the anchor and trolley that I bought last winter for my kayak. To give drop shotting a serious go instead of the casual failure of previous years.
  24. I never heard of that. Glad you're ok!
