There must be something wrong with me
The biggest issue I see in all this is you saying you've only had a few days off in 2+ months...that's ridiculous. Now for the question at hand have I ever felt unmotivated to go? Yes but only after I've been going alot...never after its been a while

Swim Jigs
A swim jig comes thru brush and grass much better than a spinnerbait..better than basically any moving bait I've seen. Also its more subtle so when the fish are "off" or the water is somewhat clear they seem to shine. I've got a lake about 35 minutes away that I've caught maybe 50 bass on a spinner bait in 10 years...in the past 4 or 5 I've caught a few hundred on a swim jig. Its just the thing there.

Question for my Cajun bass dudes...
So I heard a term alot growing up in Texas and Louisiana that I just heard again...Coon ass. My question is ...is this an offensive term? If so I apologize. My dad always referred to his Cajun fishing buddies this way...didn't seem to phase them from what I remember.

Such a Shame
Is it wrong? Wrong is so subjective. From a legal stand point obviously not or the cops would shut them down. From a moral stand point...like not wrecking a natural ecosystem and its resources? Absolutely. Here's the issue: people either want money or if they have alot of it they want to spend it. Sad that people are ruining it for future generations for some semblance of "fun" and monetary social posturing in the now. But as I stated above money is the only thing people seem to give a s#$% about. I live about 90 miles away from what's referred to as the Iowa great lakes. Out of that group of lakes Spirit is the one to me that retains much of its fishing forward angler driven premise in summer...the other ones are stuffed full of jetskis, pleasure boats, uneducated watercraft operators and other types of annoying jackassery. Because of this I avoid those bodies of water from late May thru mid September outside of occasionally shore fishing at night. Funny story: a few years back I had an older gentleman curse at me for where I parked. Btw I was in a legal spot in a public parking area...but he took issue with it. When I bit back he told me I was a punk kid ( was 35 at the time)and needed to be taught a lesson. I said well we are already outside so come teach me a lesson if you want a ride to the hospital. He got back in his truck and left...only smart thing he did all day.

Channel catfish baits
I caught 3 cats yesterday morning...threw a rod out in the bottom while I bass fished. Fresh shad did the trick. My local lake is full of them and I've got a small cast net so getting bait this time of year is easy...and enjoyable. Gar just about drive me insane with shad but at least I get lots of action.

St.Croix rifle handle
If this is true that's disgusting. A huge well established business f-ing over the little guy...stealing his success. Not that its a new thing for that to happen in the business world...just gross when it does.

Other Species Latest Catch Pics Thread
Me and a buddy drove up one day several years ago and got on a crapload of smaller end eaters...like 7-9 inchers. We kept like 76 or some dumb thing. Oh and speaking of other species...I caught like 6-7 gar this morning while cat fishing... Couldn't keep them off my shad. I did manage 3 kitty's as well..a little 12 incher and 2 eaters in that 2.5-3lb range. Although not an other species I also caught 5 largemouth biggest around 3lbs. Good 2 hours I'd say.

have you met up with any forum members and fished with them?
I have not fished with anybody but I did meet up with @OkobojiEagle several months back. He lives about 90 miles from me so we met half way. Sold him a rod and talked for a while about where and how we both like to fish...seems like a super good dude.

how is your summer grilling season coming along?
I grill alot during fair weather month's... Sometimes every single night. This summer I've done the normal stuff chicken thighs, burgers, chops and steaks which are always great. My grill is a Phoenix propane grill...it has a heat shield over the entire burner chamber so it makes searing a little tricky but I prevents flare ups. I've had it 3 or 4 years I think I've had 1 fire...I cook bacon and like I said fatty burgers and chicken thighs all 3 are notorious fire starters and it handles them like a champ. By far the most satisfying thing I've cooked is a fajita rub marinated pork loin. Cooked it to 137 and pulled it ...rested and it got to 145...was perfectly cooked and juicy as could be. Sliced it thin and piled it into some grilled corn tortillas and topped it with homemade Pico de gallo. It was so good I ate it for 3 or 4 days at worknfor lunch. My other outdoor cooking apparatus is a small dorm fridge style electric smoker...master built I believe. The past several years I've worked on perfecting pulled pork and I've got it right where I want it. This year I've stepped up my baby back game and the last 2 racks I made were outstanding. Oh yeah and I made smoked Texas style ranch beans and they were outstanding.

Keeping Busy
Well I'm about 26 years from retirement if all goes well...who knows. People are different: my moms getting close and I'd be surprised if she doesnt work part time or do volunteer work. My dad has been retired 4 or 5 years and if you told him he had to get a part time job he would kill you and your entire family.
