  1. Spinner bait Swim jig Buzz bait Flipping jig Right now I'm not throwing any of them. Today's line up is Senko Texas rig ribbontail worm Popper Wacky worm Ned rig
  2. Ill echo was @ironbjorn said they don't seem to be as good as they once were. I have 4-5 presidents that are all 5-10 years old in sizes 25-35 that are still going strong. That said my buddy picked me up a president xt a few years ago and it has always been kinda sluggish. Even with routine maintenance it's just not that smooth. To me the sub $100 spinning reel category is owned by Daiwa. The pflueger xt is $85 bucks and I see 4 or 5 Daiwa options I would choose over the pflueger. Heck the Revros is as cheap as the standard president and a far superior reel to both IMO.
  3. My local doesn't allow night fishing because it is a county park and it closes at 1030. Kinda sucks because I remember loving night fishing .
  4. Is this a thing? If so who makes them?
  5. Just got my Dobyns Fury 734 yesterday. Used it for senkos and Texas rigged worms today..was very happy with it.
  6. Honestly if I was gonna drop 500+ on one rod I'd get a bottom contact rod in the $200-$250 range and 2 rods in the $150 range. Of course that's just me. I will echo what was said above. I have a buddy that had a $450 st Croix for bottom contact while I had a $180 rod. If we fished Texas rigs or jigs I always out fished him. Why? Because I'm a better jig fisherman. Point being is yeah it was a nice rod but it was totally wasted on him.
  7. Better than what my buddy caught. He got the ole stinky skunk and had to watch me reel in 8.
  8. I guess when I say light I'm mean something I'd typically only use for crappie. Lighter then my typical ML bass rods.
  9. Im also a kvd L&L believer. I'm not a fluorocarbon user but I use alot of copolymer and mono. It works miracles on cheap mono like big game. Is it necessary? Absolutely not...I fished years without it. But the performance and subsequent enjoyment difference make it worth the price of admission..IMO.
  10. Anybody routinely use these in there bass pursuits? I'm experimenting with one now and I don't really have an opinion yet. What techniques you using them for?

Well this morning at 6am I put a pork butt on the smoker at 250. Just checked it and it needs time yet to get fall apart but the bark looks amazing. I let It sit in the fridge overnight with a rub consisting of brown sugar, black pepper, lawrys, Myron mixons original and Carolina style rub some butt. Should be awesome. Got some Italian pasta salad to go with it.
  12. Thinking I may do a glass of 100proof old forester bourbon after supper tonight. Haven't had whiskey for a while...been drinking to much beer. Gotta get my priorities straight!
  13. I got up early threw a pork butt on the smoker. Got out to.the pond about 6:15 fished til 9. Caught 8- biggest was close to 4lbs.
  14. Yep I watch your videos...I don't feel like you are trying to fool anybody
  15. I actually just got my fury 734 today to use for senkos flukes jigs and T rigs...feels pretty good in hand
  16. He does as well..but for some reason his bass all have an unrelated snagged treble in the side
  17. Keep winning all the time and they will ban you from local tourneys under suspicion of cheating. Gonna get a raw deal like poor innocent Mike Long!
  18. At work we all talk about how the only way to get good at something is to deal with problems...when things go wrong instead of running and making it someone else's problem just jump right in the fire. Then a while back I saw a team member profile of our commodities manager and his favorite quote is..."a smooth sea never made a skilled sailor". So fitting..so true.
  19. Man comes stumbling in at 7am after being out all night with a duck under his arm. Wife is waiting for him and she promptly asks where the hell have you been? Man says this is the pig I married. Wife says that's a duck you idiot. The man replies I wasn't talking to you.
  20. We've had a few bouts of rain lately but even with that we are still in a pretty bad drought for well over a year now. This week our temps are gonna push 100 plus high dew points...aka miserable.
  21. So I've always just used the typical 1/4oz rebel pop r style popper. Never stepped up into the 1/2oz or up territory. Any favorites in that range?
  22. Two chicks back the girl was crazy and the parents d#$%&. Next girl the parents were good but the chick was ..a little...you know. This one now her mom and rest of the family are cool and she is great. I improved every time at least.
  23. I'm driving a 2005 Silverado that's half way rusted out. I can appreciate old lumbering clunky things that still do the job.
  24. So I recently decided to try a little experiment and throw some black marabou jigs for largemouth. I know they are usually used for smallies but since its dog days of summer I figured maybe my green fish would appreciate a nice subtle treat. My problem was finding a rod to throw them on. Then I remembered a stick I have in my crappie pile. Its a 7ft Shakespeare micro series light power rod. Paired it up with a cheap shimano I've had for years and some trilene xl 6lb. All in I've got maybe $50 into the combo. Ned would be proud to hear of this rig I do believe!
