  1. That is fantastic. Do not let anyone tell you different
  2. Koe Wetzel came out with a true country song "D**n near normal." Not bad, not bad.
  3. Single colorado spinnerbait. Works great on unpressured fish and those are still prespawn temps. No need to throw one too large
  4. iRod 704C Genesis III is maybe the best rod I’ve used. At your budget you could also try the Air version, but I have not tried it so cannot recommend. 704C was designed to be a jig fishing rod.
  5. I second the “Go Blue!” Cheer for @Bluebasser86. We are rooting all the way for you. Do stuff that makes sense, bring home the trophy.
  6. I certified my scale redneck style by hanging a gallon of water from it and then subtracting the weight of the jug It’s dead accurate, by the way
  7. I do think region of country plays a role as well. On top of that, some of my bass here are either Florida strain or Lone Star (Northern/Florida) hybrids. But for some good fun, here is the palest bass I have caught and some others with various colorations NC, winter, small pond NY, stained pond with lily pads (notice how similar coloration is to yours) NY small clear lake, maybe one of the prettiest bass I’ve caught. Michigan pond, lily pads and very clear water PS I look like a dork in half these photos I’m about to strangle my younger self.
  8. If I’m not mistaken, they can get pale while laying on the bottom for a while. Graphing around, it was apparent that bass were predominantly glued to the bottom. That dark back and golden/white hue belly looks really similar to bass I’ve caught out of New York and Michigan ponds
  9. This is not the kind of fish you hope to catch jig fishing. I caught this one and let another small one have an “early release” this past Sunday. Conditions were not great. It was the second day of a cold front. I looked for fish in all stages of the spawn. Fish were nowhere where I expected them to be. I learned some stuff for my next outing. While difficult, this was my first real trip in TX for 2024! 3/4oz jig, 14-20ft of water on points for the two fish. I actually didn’t expect a jig to be what got me bites. Some wanted it, I guess. I got the photo’d fish early off of a magic tree that I’ve caught many bass off of.
  10. I have no experience tournament fishing but if money was on the line and I absolutely needed to catch fish and I ain’t got a clue what’s going on, I’m going to pick up a shaky head on light line and a spinning rod and find some good cover on good structure with deep water close by. This past season someone at work told me I don’t catch fish and they needed to see proof. Well I went out to the lake hoping to catch some bigs and found myself having a very tough day. Conditions were terrible. No wind. Literally the only way I could catch fish that day was on a shaky head. So I at least had some photos. I’ll definitely pick up a spinnerbait sometimes too if I’m having a rough go. Sometimes it’s just what the doctor ordered
  11. All of the above share a common denominator: time. The time commitment that good bass fishing demands is tremendous - especially on large bodies of water. How much time are you willing to sacrifice? What are you leaving behind? Is it worth it? It’s difficult to be a “hammer”
  12. @NorthernBasser @gimruis He is the king. As I recall I called NorthernBasser one of the supreme bait monkeys and he told me he prefers to be called bait gorilla. I wasn't even remotely thinking of purchasing anything megabass but now of course I am.
  13. Glenn is on the money in this video
  14. Should be mandatory to post a spinnerbait thread every week. They seem to get a lot of attention. Spinnerbaits are my favorite lure and I will accumulate a lot of catches on them over the course of a year. Quiet, accurate, slow power is my method.
  15. I have never used that color. When I say black and chartreuse, I mean black and chartreuse full strands. Humdinger makes a rubber skirt with this combination that I am fond of.
  16. @gimruis heck yeah. as it so happens I have a black n blue tied on currently.
  17. Saw that one coming Pretty sure @king fisher really likes black too
  18. White is my best color A solid chartreuse is often overlooked in favor of chartreuse/white or chartreuse/blue but I very much like a solid chartreuse. Blue glimmer is popular but green glimmer less so. If your water is relatively clear but has a green tint to it, try a green glimmer. It is great in the summertime Lastly black and chartreuse is massively overlooked for dirty water
  19. It just don't get much warmer than 110 and not much colder than -20 in the US that I'm aware of. 110 is 25 degrees off 95 and -20 is 30 degrees off 10 degrees. Pretty close.
  20. I am rigging 8 rods for Sunday… most I have ever run. Doesn’t help when it’s been a long time since you’ve fished at a lake. Kinda have no idea what’s going on so you rig everything
  21. I've caught most of my dock fish off jigs and spinnerbaits. Skipping a simple texas rig is underrated as well.
  22. That’s disgusting. I don’t know that I’ve ever felt that
  23. Being outside, would you rather it be 10 degrees or 95 degrees I will answer. I have simply had enough of the cold. Being in TX, I’ve certainly felt extreme heat. Still would rather that than extreme cold.
