  1. Good point. Bet there are a few of us that could do it cheap though.
  2. Depends on the condition. Could be super cheap or way more than $20k. Pictures and goals would help narrow that down.
  3. Oh, that's another one. First bite of the day on the frog is usually an exercise in over exuberance and I yank it about 5 miles right out of the fishes mouth.
  4. Fishing a frog when it isn't working and then changing it up for another frog and continuing.
  5. Any recommendations? I can easily fill a squirt bottle with vinegar/water or alcohol/water like HBird or Lowrance recommends, but am also open to buying a bottle. I searched a bunch and this was the closest thread so I figured I'd ask here.
  6. And then I make a cast and forget and need to respool. I am the king of those sort of whoops. I also have never run 5lb test on a BC which is normally what I use when dropping a 1/4oz sinker to 25'. I can't imagine how loose the spool would need to be, but I have no bfs stuff either.
  7. I bought a tacklewebs bag to collect little garbage like line. Empty plastic bottles/cans go into a bag in the built in cooler, hooks/tackle get hung on a magnet or TH marine undercompartment rack, and any food items go into a ziplock. I was using a less compartmentalized setup before but this works killer and keeps everything off the floor of the boat and most importantly out of the lake.
  8. What sort of Civil? Remote work possible?
  9. Dropping really light lures to the bottom, in particular when deep I find much easier on spinning. ie, letting 1/4 oz go down to 20-30' would be brutal on a BC. I dislike having to strip line by hand to get it down... The other technique where I like spinning is for skipping ultralight lures or weightless ones. For pretty much everything else I prefer a casting rod.
  10. I have SC LE MHF, SC LE HF, 844, & 904 as blanks built up custom. The SC H is way more stout than the Loomis. The MH has nearly the power the 4 series Loomis rods do but with a softer tip. I find the MH SC to be a more flexible rod due to this...but it isn't as good at heavier presentations. The H SC is seriously stout. I use that one for pitching heavy jigs/trigs in thick grass. So as others have said, depends a bit on your purpose. Power wise they could all work, soft tip wise I'd rate them SC MH, 844, 904, SC H
  11. Thanks, meeting a buddy from Mosinee as it is about equal distant from both of us.
  12. Packed for a weekend trip and settled on just 18. I'd have brought 21, but my other rods don't fill the needs of the 3 I am missing. Sounds like a bait monkey problem.
  13. Great shot! Going to be up your way fishing the Chippewa Flowage Fr/Sa/Su. Can't wait!
  14. You can NEVER have enough frog rods
  15. How's the boat? I know most of us are dying for updates.
  16. Do they both lose the map or just the remote one? If both, I'd blame the map/card unit if just the remote the ethernet connection.
  17. I like to hang out in my boat on the water and in the garage. Having everything where it should be puts me at ease as well.
  18. I have one of those on my cruiser setup exactly like that albeit they are starting batteries. Allows me to run one down with the stereo and flip it to 1 or 2 to start the engine to get home.
  19. Anytime another boat looks like they are going to encroach on where I am fishing I grab the muskie stick and whatever 8-10" bait is on it and toss it their way. Fan cast with it after just to mark my range. Amazing how far you can lob a heavy bait on a big 9' rod...
  20. 6'8" St Croix MXF. Great tip for working the bait and "soft" enough rod to not have the fish toss the bait. Perfect jerkbait rod as well...but I consider those techniques more or less the same from a rod buying perspective.
  21. The mast light is the most disruptive thing to your eyes you can possibly have for night fishing. I have 2 masts. One with a much lower wattage bulb which I use whenever I feel that visibility for other boats isn't a problem. On top of that there is NEVER any white/blue light on my boat at night. Red is the best color to preserve your night vision. I don't have any external lights as they aren't legal here, but these all dim via remote at the helm and provide enough to see without hurting night vision.
  22. Can also use your thumb from the opposite hand. Not a terrible idea since it makes it really easy then to use that hand to close the bail.
  23. I love cranking as a search bait...but am now faced with many instances where it is deeper than I can really crank. In those situations what do you all use as a faster moving search bait?
  24. Diminishing returns comes in steps in fishing gear. A reel upgrade is nice but a rod can be a game changer
