  1. Or call St. Croix and tell them you hate it.
  2. Awesome, gorgeous boat!
  3. Interesting read for me to. My go-to would be a frog. Not on my home lake though where the frog bite regrettably sucks. Jig and Trig there.
  4. Hot glue is what the custom rod builders use here. Expectation is that the tip will be replaced. The other guides are tied and epoxied, not the tip.
  5. Carsons Bay. That is the closest launch to my house so I "always" end up going through it. At the time of the pic I wasn't actually fishing it. Not into casting around all those boats.
  6. I had all mine made locally here in a suburb of Minneapolis. If you are close to a builder that would sway me. I see lots of good reviews of DVT, but have no personal experience with them. Not sure where you are located and whom might know one near you.
  7. Even if your budget were less I would go custom. Spec out what YOU want
  8. 10 years ago here that wasn't a $10k boat without the graphs...but in today's market it may sell. I'd list it under for that reason and see what happens. $9400 is an emotional number that is WAY better than 10.
  9. I never see boat traffic here. Took this the last time I was out fishing. ...and yes, those bas$#&*(s are parked right on some of my spots.
  10. Best for Texas Rigs is longer than 6'6". Personally I have a 7'6" and 7'10" and wish the shorter one were longer.
  11. Way too annoying indeed.
  12. Steak tacos is probably our favorite. A well marinated hunk of skirt laid right on the burning fire after you blow off the ashes. Great combo of char and smoke flavor. Bonus is it is super easy because as long as you nail the marinade all you need for toppings are chopped white onion, cilantro and a bit of lime juice. A quick pico de gallo and some chips round it out well with beer or margaritas. Obviously if you use a camp stove or grill there are tons more options, but for one night I'd forego carrying that stuff and just use the fire. Our other fire favorite are Koobideh skewers, but they are more work.
  13. Flouro sucks to learn with. Just like throwing money in the hole in the bottom of your boat.
  14. The 125 is a carbed value merc. Best way to increase your boat value if you have one is to put on a merc cowl
  15. Interesting. Just barely North of you our surface weeds aren't all that developed.
  16. I don't weigh or measure anything...unless I think it is a PB or it's a monster. I find it really funny when people put an 18" bass on a tape or scale. Obviously if you are in a tournament it is a different story.
  17. Did you ask in the poll to not consider purchase price in your answer?
  18. Way, rofl. The Holbrook which has way less coverage, but referenced here are 29g. The other Oakley's listed weigh between 24-44g for their plastic lenses. Costa doesn't list the weight of the 580's, but the thin glass Maui's approach the weight of plastic and have way better clarity than any plastic junk. I also much prefer them to the Costas I've owned. Pick your poison, not relevant, but lightweight glass isn't all that heavy.
  19. I will add in that size I'd prefer a tiller boat...but of course I have a 20' tiller so what a surprise. Here are some options: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/251589940084081?ref=search&referral_code=marketplace_search&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3Aa51b8689-434f-4953-b110-9fa9f3a2160d https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/284901456714011/?ref=search&referral_code=marketplace_search&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3Aa51b8689-434f-4953-b110-9fa9f3a2160d https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/965798364238372?ref=search&referral_code=marketplace_search&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A2ef95e3c-f72c-46f2-aa5f-f1695bfee44b https://www.walleyecentral.com/classified/adviewer/228008 https://www.outdoorsfirst.com/classifieds/2001-tuffy-esox-magnum/ https://www.outdoorsfirst.com/classifieds/2003-lund-1675-lund-explorer-tiller/ Non tillers https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/340206597502215?ref=search&referral_code=marketplace_search&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3Aece0609d-a4d6-47f0-b3df-71dbf1e0a3a7 https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/477888006770224/?ref=search&referral_code=marketplace_search&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A0bf7c019-8621-47d1-abe7-d616addf7f95 https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/844540843154907?ref=search&referral_code=marketplace_search&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A8d376147-ba35-4fe3-94e6-d413be6d7762 https://www.walleyecentral.com/classified/adviewer/228042
  20. 10 year old is usually the sweet spot IMO. Any newer and you pay bloated rates as they aren't done depreciating. Older and well they are older. As long as that motor has good compression (I'd require a test, glad to let you use my tester if you need) it will require no more maintenance than a new one. Outboard maintenance is rather easy to DIY as well and from your other posts know that you are handy enough to tackle what is necessary. That being said, I surely wouldn't run from a 15 year old boat if it is the right one for you. Lund/Alumacraft are the two best choices you will find up here IMO. I am sure something else could pop up, but both are more than acceptable.
  21. The 8 piece telescoping rods are all garbage. The smaller comes from comparing with ones that don't collapse as far. Interesting. Perhaps they are making better ones, but the ones here are trash. I'd rather use a $30 lightning rod. Generally airlines will let you carry on a fly rod or a 2 pc in a small case though. That is what I'd do.
  22. The SuperThin glass from Maui is about the same weight as plastic. They are crazy light and clear Poly lenses need to be replaced all the time, glass last years. The risk is there of course, but IMO the fact you have something in front of your eyes is huge and enough. I am mostly concerned with hooks. I did mine in 2003. BEST money I have ever spent.
  23. Curious what those that run flouro on their spinning rods feel the advantage is. All mine have either light braid or mono.
