Best Lake In Your State

Featured Replies

As per popular demand Lake Simcoe, St Clair, Lake of the woods or Lake Erie.

My personal favorite is a hidden gem like 99% of Ontario doesn't know about how good of a SMB fishery it is, called Lake Clear.

River; Sacramento Delta, lake; Clear lake in NorCal, DVL in SoCal.

Honorable mention, New Melones 10.48 lb pending world record Spotted bass.

Tom

PS, March 14-16, 3 day tournament at Clear lake posted 90.34 lbs (15 bass) to win.

I know we don't want to give up all the information such as your lucky spot, but how about we share this.

What is your best lake in your state to pull out those monsters? Maybe a lucky lure combo.

My lake

Clear lake in Washington County MN

Great lake, my brother in-law and myself each pulled in a 6lb in the same pocket (And have consistently pulled in bass over 4lbs)

We used a White shad Northland Reed-Runner spinner (With a lone narrow willow blade, not the colorado blade)

(Also a great lake for tiger musky)

Now what about your best lake in your state?

Lakes? Who needs lakes when you've got ponds!

Lakes? Who needs lakes when you've got ponds!

We cant count ponds in Minnesota. I think lakes alone there are over 11k and if you include ponds (I cant remember the acreage required for each) you could add a couple more thousand. We also have lake international lakes, and the Mississippi river. (Some of the best small mouth actions)

I just had to list my best. There are so many lakes (2 of which have made it into Bassmaster top 100 lakes (Minnatonka, and Leach I think it was))

I personally can not wait until my trip next year to Florida so I can do some deep water, or hit Okeechobee.

For me It's hands down Kiser lake. You cant have a motor on the lake so its perfect for my kayak. It is ranked in the top 10 for large mouth in ohio and #4 for large mouth over 20''s. Also big bluegill/crappie/perch/and Hybrid stripers.

MI: Lake St. Clair ever since the zebra mussles cleaned it up.

theres a few good ones, but I'm gonna have to say Potholes Reservior.

Tons of ways to catch them, Giant LMB and SMB, and some sweet terrain and good weather to fish in

Wow so many great bass fishing lakes in Kansas, how do I narrow it down to only one??  :laugh5:   I'd probably have to go with Milford, big smallies and largemouths and good numbers of both. It's tops for smallies for sure, for just largemouth I'd have to go with La Cygne or Perry though.

Champlain, ny or vt

While I have not fished there YET...Richmond Mill Lake has to be tops.

I really like Falls lake for numbers and size.

Impressive, you get to weigh in 6 bass? Opening day, does LA have a closed bass season? The 90.34# 3 day Clear lake weight, the last day the winners had 35.78 for 5 bass, not too shabby for tournament weights. We have a few lakes as good as Texas or Louisiana, not nearly as many or as big or as well managed.

Tom

Indiana

the private one I live on (100 acres) not many lakes in Indiana produce 10 pounders.  In terms of Public Lakes I would vote for Lake Wawasee or Lake Monroe.

In N.Cal there's quite a few. Bullards for big spots, Oroville for #'s, also spots, and of course Clear lake for big bucket mouths.

Note: The best (safest) place to launch on Clear lake is the casino, consent police presents. Thief is a big problem on that lake!

Lacassine Pool is part of a National Wildlife Refuge and is subject to its own set of rules such as a closed season and horsepower limits.  To my knowledge, all lakes and rivers managed by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries are open to fish year round.

Leech... only big lake in mn where 5 fish limits routinely reach 25+ lbs... (mille lacs is close)

mitch

just about all of em.

Im not kidding either.

That's incredible!

I remember Al Lindner touting Leech Lake in the 70s,

but it sounds like it's better today than ever.

Where is that lake located? I normally have to travel all the way up a few minutes past grand rapids from coon rapids to get some good largemouth

Leech Lake, Walker, Minnesota, is a very different lake than most of you likely have fished before. Most largemouth bass are caught in water 5 feet or shallower, in reeds, rushes, rice ,lily pads ,and other scattered weeds that are around many areas of the lake....Bass there normally do not venture far from cover or risk being lunch for the many Northern Pike or trophy Muskellunge that rule these waters......110,000 acres gives a fisherman many areas to fish , usually without much competition....In recent years Smallmouth have established themselves in at least one large rocky section of the lake, so well in fact , that a tournament last season was won with just smallmouth at about a 5 lb. average.........If you like fishing in the thick stuff, you would love Leech.
