Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

I hope you are not in California, yesterday I saw a guy fishing for bluegill so I said are you gonna use bluegill for bait (I saw a few more bass/catfish gears plus a basket for keeping fish). He stopped after I told him it is illegal here, but once I left he went back for bluegill again.

In Georgia not California. Private pond

Stingiest reservoir ever gave up 8 today; I don't think I've ever hooked more than 3 there on any one outing before today!!

Also caught this weird looking baby (~10 inches) catfish pitching plastics. Not sure what kind of catfish though.

Had a great day in Indiana. Frog, 1oz punch, and chatterbait caught about 15 fish over 3 pounds.  Found a spot the size of a kitchen table that held 8 in the 4 to 5.3 pound range and bit on almost every cast with the chatterbait.

Finally took a Saturday off and went fishing. What an awesome day. Overcast and a little over 100. Used a 6th Sense Lipless in the deep grass. Caught dozens of little stripers on topwater too. Side note make sure hooks are sharp and not worn out. Dumped my biggest largie of the day on a Sammy with pretty dull hooks.spacer.pngspacer.pngspacer.png

i left the dock at 6 this morning in the little johnny and caught a dozen before leaving around 10. this is the first largemouth i’ve caught in a few weeks. ain’t she pretty?

That is no small fish. When they breach 4lbs, that's when they start getting some nice bulk to them. A bass over 4 lbs is a great fish. I know I was tickled when I caught that 4.50 of mine 2 weeks ago.

I have been trying to get out of my comfort zone, driving further, and fishing some new(ish) reservoirs lately.

It isn't usually much fun fishing in the midday sun, but the heat and humidity seem to keep most people off the water, and I sure like that (these are all small electric only lakes, no jetskis etc).

I caught 6 small ones yesterday and a couple quick releases. Not complaining though, buddy and I fish these places once in a while, and have a lot less luck. Guess I fish more thoroughly when I am on my own.

Highlight of the day was a channel catfish I caught on a rage baby menace on a jighead. Set the hook and knew it was a good fish, but then it came up near the surface and I saw what it was.

Then it kept digging and digging until it won't come up for like a minute or so. Finally landed the fish. It was a good fight on a 3 power Conquest/ Curado 71/ 12# Tatsu. Forgot to measure or weigh it, but it was around 20 inches.

Was on the water at crack of dawn this morning. Figured they’d bite ‘cause we had a hard rain yesterday evening and it cooled things down some and provided some much needed oxygen to the water. Water level is way down around here.

Started out with a frog and buzzbait. Nothing on the bb, but I got one nice fish on the frog. Also caught some on the 5 inch dinger in Watermelon red around eel grass edges . Caught most of the rest of the fish with various zoom flukes. Could not get the big fish to bite, but most of them were quality fish up to 3 pounds. Ended up with 21.326D2118-3B2F-4FD2-8A50-AF582A4E8455.jpegC043E3C9-D69C-419C-A5D5-714DFEE7659F.jpeg14B63049-73CD-4506-9455-8D0CFA4D625E.jpeg76D9C194-5A71-4B3D-B80D-A91383468EA6.jpeg4C398F11-766C-41A3-B54E-F8F103AE05D4.jpeg462C2E5A-8D76-4BF2-93BF-CD4CB1CFFE0B.jpeg

I was not allowed to fish, but my 11 year old son won biggest fish (boys) at the local 4th of July kids fishing contest. With a bluegill, not a bass.

I caught a 6lb smallmouth bass, which I doubt I'll beat unless I fish Lake Simcoe. I was intrigued in knowing how old a 6lb smallmouth might be. Keep in mind I'm Canadian and I live/fish Southern Ontario, mainly Georgian Bay.

The majority of smallmouth in my home water in central Massachusetts are now cruising deep under schools of their summer diet. Quabbin Reservoir still calls me, however, and I answer by

anchoring deep on the edges of humps and flats optimistic that one or two might swim by.

Yesterday was a miserable day! It was 91, very very humid, and hardly a breeze. The heat must have gotten the best of us and we decided to try it. We decided to hit another one of our tiny state land lakes, and stay away from boating traffic.

This lake has always been special and it didn’t disappoint last night. We only fished 3 hours before the heat and humidity wore us out. The three hours momma bear managed 11 nice bass, I hooked two, and 6poundbass managed 3. Her trusty Senko was her choice, Liam was throwing all kinds of soft plastics, and I got one on a spinnerbait and the other came on my favorite a frog. I had a ton of blow ups but the mats were a little too thick. Biggest went just shy of 3 and the smallest 1-15.

First bass over 4 pounds I've caught all year, also easily the darkest largemouth I've ever caught. Thought it was a smallmouth when I first saw a glimpse of it. w8T0R0j.thumb.jpg.d01ee682a9aaf2b2c1c0634a53edff12.jpg
