They are not super hard to catch. They do have a lot more energy per size than a large mouth and they seem to just dart straight down after they hit it. They love little Rat-L-Traps or anything that they can fit in their mouths that rattles.

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

I want to catch a Peacock one day.

Fun afternoon on a pair of micro lakes. Lots of cloud cover scattered throughout the day as the rain threats never materialized. Helped keep the temperature down, too. Spent the whole time throwing the finesse worm and ended the day with 41 bass. Had a few decent fish in the mix, but nothing real big. Thumb is a little tore up, but I’ll survive ?

Went out for a little while, man it was HOT and the bugs were crazy.

Streak continues, fish for 7/12. I had to come in right after, couldn't stand the mosquitoes tonight.

Noticed this one did not have any real markings on it. Looks like a grass bass.

@Team9nine, congrats on your most excellent day. I have such a hard time discerning the size of fish. After weighing a few bass, I did acquire a basic understanding of length and weight, but fish are photographed in so many ways (forearm extended to the camera, full arm extended to the camera, held away from the photographer's body, on the ground, by a fishing rod, etc.) that I'm left guessing as to their true size. How long are you bass in the photos?

I love my bump board because it cradles them for a photo. I like my scale less because it takes more time, which keeps the bass out of the water longer, but I still carry it in case I catch a monster.

The three in the pics are in the 16”-17” range. I only measure from the bank, never weigh. I carry a small retractable tape measure in my pocket, and a length-weight conversion chart for my area on my phone. I’ve weighed and measured hundreds of bass over the years, so I can pretty much eyeball everything these days, though I usually check the biggest fish of the trip just for reference. “Big” for my area is anything over 18”, so those get a quick tape every time.

Me backing a boat down the ramp has (at times) provided solid entertainment value, but I feel a lot better about myself after seeing this!

They said it came out of gear while it was parked on the ramp……. Their boat sank sideways too, some good Samaritans dragged it up on the bank before it went all the way down

Had a few mins to kill, so decided to take my pole with me down to the pond. Few casts in on the Mach Shad 90. Can't wait to try this at Headwaters.

Thanks, @Team9nine. I really do struggle to discern size. There's a children's picture book about a monster coming to attack Earth. He looks so big and scary with no context until he actually lands on Earth and there are familiar objects to scale his size...and you see that he's a pipsqueak. Similarly, they used to use children to pose with muskies to make the muskies look bigger.

Bit of a slow bite but managed to catch this Bucket mouth. Caught her on a 3/8OZ Z Man Jackhammer Black n Blue Paired with a black n blue 4.3 Keitech.IMG_2912.thumb.jpeg.183b9b1ea5cc75cac13a1c1c16ec758d.jpeg

Man, even though this morning was overcast and cooler than the past week, it still hit 91° as I was getting out of the water at 10:00. Slow bite. Nothing on anything but soft plastics. First one on a Zoom Z-Craw worm in California 420, the second on a Rage Bug in green pumpkin (missed one, too) and a dink on a blue/black laminate Senko WR.
