Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

There’s no sense in wearing pristine clothes to work just to get them filthy, not that I wear clothes by choice. I only wear clothes because they say that it’s illegal if I go outside naked lol.

Derail, but I'd just wear my speedo to work if the company didn't supply uniforms.

Hopefully I'll have some fish pictures tomorrow.

Got up at six and was out wading the Chippewa by 6:45 this morning. Only managed two hookups in two hours. I was fishing a new stretch of the river this morning and was hoping for some better results. It looks like a place fish would like and it's very fishable. But what do I know: I'm not a fish.

Lost my loon colored whopper plopper by accidentally casting over a branch I didn't realize was there and then getting it snagged trying to get it off.

Saw lots of wildlife: birds, chipmunks, squirrels, turtles, and many many deer. Got to watch a mother doe and her fawn walk past me, not 20 feet from my location. But they moved on before I could get a good picture.

The first fish was tiny, but at least he was a pretty color as an apology for his dink status:

The second one came from the same spot and hit my Mepps #3 as I retrieved it past a partly submerged branch. The current just past that branch was quite strong, and once he got out into the current, I thought I had a monster. He fought hard for a long time and I was happy to play him for a bit. Maybe 14 or 15 inches long. I didn't measure him, but it's my largest smallie of the year so far.

A better picture displaying his prettiness:

Slow fishing, but a pleasant morning none the less.

Whoa! I bet that made your morning.

Current has tricked me too. Still, it's a sweet bass.

I managed to get 3 in the boat today.  I caught the first, and biggest, an 18 inch Spot within my first 10 casts.  I thought that was a good sign but the bite dried up.  We had a bunch of rain last week.  The forecast was for rain this morning, but it didn't rain a drop.  I got plenty of Bass to follow various lures for a couple feet.  They just wouldn't commit.   Water was pretty muddy.  The first was on a double willow blade chartreuse spinner bait.   The 2nd (smallest, a 13 inch Spot) was on a wacky.  The final one came on a black Bizz Baits Big Thump (one big colorado blade) spinnerbait.  It's been hot, but the water was a couple degrees cooler than last week.  I suppose the rain cooled it some.

Decent couple days, but forget about finding a pattern.  They're all over the place.  Still some in shallow grass just out from spawning areas.   Some deep main lake.  Don't think I caught more than two in same area doing same thing.  These were both on a Rage Bug; one in main lake brush about 18 feet down.  Other was in small cove in grass about 7 feet of water.

As they do, weathermen lie, but I got some swings in before the rain became too much. Blew several hooksets on a frog but then switched to the poop and got one on my 5th or 6th last cast. Dude thought he was a Smallie and went flying a few times, so that was cool.

Just a couple “schoolies” from my latest short trip out. Probably looking at early next week before I get another shot.

Top water bite has started! Got the day started at sunrise with a few on weedless frogs and poppers.

The day turned into a junk fishing day once the topwater bite died down. Senkos, jigs, and spinnerbaits also took fish. No lunkers today, a couple fatties pushing 3 were the largest of the day.

It was almost raining this morning, and I usually do good in the rain.  I caught 8 today, 6 Spots and 2 Largemouth.   They're all pictured, in the order I caught them.    I caught a 4.06 (6 hundredths, not 6 ounces) Spot on my 3rd cast at 5:54.   The next 6 weren't huge, but weren't tiny either.  Katie and others like seeing where we catch them.  The 7th one was under the dock steps pictured.

The last one was an almost PB Spot.  My PB Spot was 4 pounds 15 ounces, on a pound/ounce scale.  This one was 4.90....an ounce or so short.  I reset my scale and weighed it 3 times.  It was 20 1/4 inches long, with a 14 inch, fat and full of eggs girth.   Several of the others were extremely post spawn skinny.

Well, I certainly wasn’t going to start a separate thread after reading @ol'crickety exploits with 47 bass caught. I pale in comparison. But I caught 6 or 7 (lost count) and missed three. One was decent but it took me around some limbs and broke the knot at the hook. Still had a fun day!

Heck, yeah, I do. Thanks, Woody! Big spots. BIG!

Nice bass, @swhit140!

@BrianMDTX: It's beautiful where you fish, Brian. Handsome bass too.

Yesterday was my fastest clip ever at catching lmbs. I had everything in my favor: perfect wind, rain, low light, and an approaching warm front. Plus, I just happened to fish where every other bass in the pond was hanging. I only had two hours to fish and I was paddling a heavy canoe, so I fished the swamp beside where I store my canoe. Normally, I paddle to the end of the pond where two streams enter and there's an island and reef. Will I fish the swamp again? You betcha!

Had a good day on the water. I caught 11 bass, 2 good sized crappie and 2 3+lb saugers that were around 26in. All were caught on BFS gear.

The picture doesn't do it justice.

Nope.

@Bazoo No,it’s the biggest reason Im on here.

I haven’t fish much this year due to health reasons, hopefully the surgery Im having at the end of the month will give me smooth sailing afterwards.

Call me Ahab.

I keep returning to the pond where I caught my PB about a month ago, hoping to hook her again to weigh her, but nada.

I did catch 39 bass, but never found a pattern. They were scattered and wanting different things: Zoom worm, wacky worm, Whopper Plopper, and a Rapala Crush City soft swimbait.

I start with two photos of the pond, showing how it looks both like a Canadian lake with rocky shorelines and black water and a swamp. Then a photo of a short, FAT bass, so fat it was funny. Then two photos of lipped and gripped bass. Then another two bass on the bump board.

But no white whale.

Respectfully,

Cap'n Ahab

Well I went to one of my local lakes that has given me 3 pb bass and who knows after today it might be 4 of them. I didn’t pack a scale but she was over 21 inches and fiesty. Caught on a candy grass d bomb with a 1/8 bullet weight pegged. I caught two other ones that were small and had a 2lb throw my lure back at me when it rocketed out of the water. I even managed to cut my toes pretty decently on something in the muck. I don’t care it was worth it.

Thankfully you have that canoe to hide your face during the walk of shame back to the KatieMobile,🤣
