I thought you wouldnt bother with making spinnerbaits , to expensive . ☺️

It is really expensive, especially the ones I wanted to make. Nobody seems to make the big, thumping baits anymore and so I bought a mold to make just those. I'll keep buying them from the store for the standard stuff, but my 5/8, 3/4, 1oz mold with #7 or #8 single Colorado or a pair of big blades is going to fill a space that has really been missing, especially the hammered blades and copper blades.

( I do sales, so often have gaps of time between stops ) Today I was at one of the parks I frequent. I usually fish the middle pond first. Today I started there ,felt the thump, set the hook, and the fish broke the hook off at the shank. Went back to the truck to retie, and when I got back a dad and his kid were right at the best spot at the drain ( where I was fixing to fish ). The kid was throwing rocks in the water , smh.

So I bailed out from there and went to the front pond ( where I hadnt caught any before.)Ended up getting these 3 healthy fish on a zoom super fluke. Watermelon with gold flake.

Now if I can just sell something today....

Have you ever seen Stan Sloan Zorro baits? I thought they made any spinnerbait

There is a reservoir I use to fish where bass would kill a slow-rolled big spinnerbait with a #7 Colorado blade. You literally had to crawl it across the bottom with the blade barely moving. But you are right, big, heavy spinnerbaits are hard to come by today.

Have had to wait nearly a month but got out a little this afternoon as a front was blowing through. Actually, did pretty well with six fair sized bass. We're on a temperature roller coaster here lately. Spring is coming.  The ground hog said so.

They only make them up to a certain size, only in a few colors, no hammered blades, no copper blades, just very limited.

Gotcha. A friend of mine knows the guys that make them, he gave me a box of them once. I’ll send you a couple pics and see if you might want any of them. I thought I recalled seeing a few thumpers

After my last failure from float tube (Jan 30), losing the only good size bass on jig from head shake after spending 4-5 hour dragging jig around. I looked back on my video and knew I made a big mistake by not load up my rod before setting hook. I’ll have to improve my hookset on big heavy Jig and especially when I’m in kayak or float tube.

This week and probably next week we expect another set of big storm coming down starting this evening. Today while I can even it is a little chilly and windy and becuz I wanna test my new crappies/bass rod (MC Benkei 5’7 L) . I went to spot I know to have shallow flat rock and drop down deep to old river. I took two setups one for bass and another for crappies. Didn’t get any crappies bite but instead got this beautiful/biggest yet of 2019 bass for me.

Took advantage of a nice February day.

shakyhead produced the only bites I got.

not many bites, but I will take quality over quantity.

One of the fattest Bass I ever caught. It was shaped Like a football.

I’m not sure but at least 6, might not over 7. The bass is close to 23”. Her body is pretty wide bigger than my palm spread out, unlike others I caught long but skinny. I didn’t have my backpack with me just 2 rods. I’m pretty lazy lately lol.

My wife said I was nuts for going out to fish in the rain tonight, but it was well worth it, as three four-pounders and a number of feisty bucks were amongst those captured. The lure du jour was the Eco Pro Tungsten Trokar Flipping Jig, the head Sharpied black to cover wear, finished with a Rage Craw trailer.

Off work at 5 and in the car to ride to my local muddy honey hole to hit my spot. Uncle Ned still putting in the work catching bass! After a few days of cloudy and rain we finally got a sunny day today, albeit slightly breezy and not exactly warm.

Made a few casts to see if they were deep or up shallow and found them pretty much where I left them last time. Maybe a bit deeper, but still very much within reach from the bank.

First up was a 3.7lb chunker!

A few casts later caught a nice maybe pound and a half.

Kept working that spot and maybe 20 minutes later hooked a GIANT!!! Major Adrenaline rush because this fish hit and just started peeling drag when I set the hook! Finally got to reel some line in and it starts peeling again! Holy ice cream Batman this gotta be a new pb...

Nope, just a fat 2.5 lber I somehow managed to hook in the tail! Smack bottom center in the meat just before the fin. The only time a 2.5lb bass is a disappointment...

Clear skies, cold tonight (mid 20s), but warm and sunny the next two days! Hopefully the juice will still be on!

You guys are killing me. Haven't seen open water in what feels like an eternity, even though it's only been a couple weeks. Maybe tomorrow. I know I need to go bad when I mentioned maybe going fishing on Valentine's Day to my sick wife 🤪

Yeah, I'd say that qualifies as a good fish. 😏

Get a weight on her ?

Mike,

The photo makes her look bigger than she actually is. She was really fat so I am guessing between 6 and 7lbs. The water has been really muddy here. She hit a mop jig in some timber laydowns

The benefits of having weekdays off and living 30 minutes from a powerplant lake that's open 12 months a year.

I went, fish were caught 😁

Yesterday morning my buddy was off work and he wanted in on some of that juice. So I met him at the lake to fish for a couple hours before I had to go to work.

I might have jinxed him by catching a 6.2 on the 3rd or 4th cast.

21” and fat like miss piggy!

I got a few bites after that and had another decent one shake the hook long before I actually saw the fish so dunno how big it was, felt like 3-4lbs.

Then I had to leave (should have called in), my buddy kept fishing for another few hours. He caught a few dink’s and lost a good one at the boat.

Just to rub it in a little more I went back after work and fished the bank until dark. 5 pounds on the nose. Uncle Ned strikes again!

Mrs. Blue let me sneak out for a few hours on Valentine's Day because it was supposed to be in the teens and snowing several inches the next day. Water was really high and dirty and there was several boats when I got there so I didn't have high hopes but I managed to catch a couple including one pretty healthy fish that went a little over 4 1/4. Passed several other boats and none of them had caught a fish so I felt pretty fortunate to have those couple I got.
