We had a nice storm system move through yesterday through the night and the air temp cooled off to 64 degrees and we got a good rain. I couldn't wait to get on the lake this morning. My alarm was set for 5:30 and I was wide awake at 4:00 lol. I waited till the rain stopped and headed to the lake with high hopes, it just felt like fishing weather. I was in the water as day broke and was on the fish in 10 min or less. It was about 66 degrees with a cool easterly wind. My first good fish was a 3-3 and I thought I was going to get after them. I didn't get another bite for about 2 hours and then I pitched to a dead bush in about 3 foot of water. I gave the 11" worm a wiggle and felt that "tap, tap" I got ready and the line went tight and I swung away. I knew it was a good one but she had me wrapped up and the fight was worse than it should have been. She was a healthy 6-4 though. I ended up getting broke off and losing another good one, both of which wrapped me up. The stuff I am fishing is pretty nasty. A couple little ones to add to it and the sun popped out and the heat and humidity took over. You won't hear me complain about catching a 6 though.

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

It was a topwater kind of morning. Out at 6am to the river. Whopper Plopper and Rebel Pop-R were the stars today. Plenty of Smallmouth action. Even managed to get a Largemouth in the lily pads.

Hit up wild fowl bay on the east side of Saginaw bay.  About a 1:45 minute drive from house.  Left my place at 6:45am arrived at the fillion acess site around 8:45.

decided to hit the canals on sand point.  Spent about 3 hrs total on the point.  Picked up my first crank bait bass since march on a bandit 300 root beer.  Than took 2 more decent bass on a blue/black shadow cristy critter

than I back tracked to the south and started fishing the reeds.  I caught about 20 bass in a wacky rigged berkly maxx scent baby bass  general worm.  I found a cut out in the reeds and caught a lot of bass sight fishing.  At one time I had a school of bass following me. I was able to pick each one off one by one all differnt sizes.

I only bought one pack to try out but, that’s what’s they wanted. Wish I would brought more.   I lost the fish of the day at the boat trying to lift him into the boat.  Stupid mistake I usually net the bigger ones. Apparently the small mouth are on the beds still.  I caught a legal smallie on a shakey head guarding the nest( my first bed smallie). Kinda felt bad about ripping him off his bed.  I think that will be the extent of my bed fishing endeavors.   Phone over heated so I didn’t get a pick of it. Pics are the high lights.  Oh, I saw a nice gar go after my general worm and even put it in his mouth and set the hook of course I didn’t hook him because, of all the teeth in thier mouth

Went out early this morning to a lake down the road. The brown bass didn’t cooperate, but 6poundbass caught this largemouth. Came home the sun popped out and we fished in our back yard and he managed another. I got skunked for the day. Oh well, I enjoy watching him get excited.

Good thing I am not tournament fishing anymore since I can seem to only manage a couple good fish a day. Here is a 3-6 and a 4-1 from this morning.

Got to fish the Potomac for fathers day...Fished most of the day with this giant accidental catfish as my only catch.

Finally got some fish to bite and caught a bunch of bass one after the other for about 30 minutes...Gotta love tidal fishing sometimes ?.  Ended up with 15 or so fish up to about 3lbs in the little flurry before it tapered off.

An early morning trip to a local spot got me straight after last session's short strike skunk fest bonanza. No mondos, but they were hard chargers, even the sunfish. Nothing much was happening for me once the sun came up. My buddy was popping cocktail dinks on an IKA, but I'd lost my mojo completely. I popped on my polarized glasses and spotted a bunch of Gantarels on beds, so I tied on a Gantarel Jr. Second cast and a scrappy bluegill eater obliged. A very large and angry pickerel gobbled it next, but was thoughtful enough not to steal it. I declared victory then split.

Had a chance to get out this morning for about an hour and a half before an eye dr. appt. Got on a real good wake bait bite with this one being the biggest. Didn't have my scale but felt like 5 lb. and change.

Finally stuck a couple good ones on an interesting day out at the local reservoir. Managed 18 bass total, but the fun part was an "experiment" I set up just to play around with. Rigged up 3 identical jigs to 3 similar outfits (baitcasting) - 1 with straight braid, one with braid to leader, and one with straight fluoro. Needless to say, nothing changed my mind out on the water today, so I'll be sticking with the straight fluoro and changing out the other two rigs  May keep the braid on one to try with a Carolina Rig just for the heck of it.

@TnRiver46, What type of sunfish is that in the bottom photo?

Redbreast sunfish

I had to consult the authority to figure it out myself, I knew it was either red breast or long ear. Apparently redbreast can have red fin tips and longear does not

Took today off to do birthday surprise stuff for the woman, and I gave myself a present by going out for a couple hours this morning before I got to work on the surprise(s).

The bigger one stole my Senko, so I threw a Cut-R worm on a belly-weighted hook back in after it. The little one wasn't much bigger than the squarebill he hit.

I know y'all are jealous of my Animal shirt, too.

Got out in the boat today for the first time in a week and a half. Fished about 7-2. Got 15 all on spinnerbaits with a couple good ones weighing 3-4 and 5-6.

The week before I caught this one I was fishing a patch of grass and dragging a big worm right down the middle of the it. I got smacked with a vicious strike. Tried to set the hook but it apparently didn’t have it anymore. I felt a real pressure on the hookset that felt like a fish was on the other end but then it quickly went away and the line was free. When I went to adjust the worm to cast again, the point of my hook had a decent cluster of scales skewered onto it. I realized I just have stabbed it’s side after missing the hookset. The following weekend I returned to the same spot. I fished the patch of grass with no sign of life. I was fishing maybe 30 yards away from that same patch and got crushed by this fish. I saw the battle scar on its side and immediately thought it had to be the same fish. Am I crazy? It felt good to finish the job.

Hit up the mighty Tittabawassee River Today. Early Last month a historical flood caused 2 huge dams to fail and probably wiped out this years smallie spawn.  The Tittabawassee maybe wounded but, she isn’t dead yet.

all things considering I’m happy with the trip. I had been reading basically dooms day reports.  Glad I checked it out for my self. Seems like most the dead heads got thrown up on land.

Took a nice 17.5 inch smallie on one of my swim jigs that I pour/make.  Caught a smaller smallie on it also.

missed a nice smallie on a black/blue chigger craw.  However, landed this big ol mr whiskers on the same color chigger craw ( channel cat) .  Talking to guys at the ramp and they caught a 34 inch flat head down by the confluence.

Next day out, and back to straight fluoro on the jig rods. Experiment over - lol. Did run the braid on a Carolina Rig setup like mentioned, but the tungsten sinker sliced the braid in two on the very first hang through some hard bottom areas. Needless to say, it's gone now (the braid), too. Hey, but there's always topwater or frogging, I guess :wink7:

Anyway, good followup day on the home reservoir. Ten more keepers in about 4 hrs of fishing. Unfortunately, lots of wind and rain in the forecast for the next 5 days or so. Might have been the last boat trip for a bit. Probably back to the bank walking inbetween storms. Here's a few from yesterday:

Revisited a place I haven't been to in 7 years.  Not sure why it took so long to get back... just fell off my priority list. I had caught a few bass there, but it didn't strike me as very productive.

This morning, I managed 10, including this pair of 3s:

It fishes better than I remember!  More accurately, perhaps, I fish better now than I did several years ago.
