Length was 25.5” open mouth to end of flailed out tail.  Girth was 18”. I’m very confident in the girth measurement but looking up to measure length I should’ve measured it closed mouth.

The calculators call it a DD 10.3 lbs though, big deviation there.

Nice fish!

Did you get a length and girth? That's about the only way you could get anything to point you towards your scale being off.

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

I’d say your scale is closer to right than wrong in this case. Always measure fish with mouth closed for a proper measurement. At that length, just a 1” difference makes a big deal as to possible weight as you’ve seen with the calculators. At 24.5”, that bass is typically right around the 9 lb. mark. At 25.5”, a little over 10 lb. is more the norm. You could always reweigh something else on that scale of known exact weight (go to grocery and get/weigh a bag of potatoes, apples, etc, on their produce scale) to confirm accuracy. Still a great fish either way. Congrats!

3.94 lb w/nice color. Roboworm drop shot in 20 f.o.w.

Another fat river fish caught on a suped-up Beetle Spin .

Sorry I haven't posted in here for awhile. The bite shut down during the last week because of higher temps. But I managed to get a few finesse fishing including a nice 2.16lber,

Wish I would of taken a picture of the fish, but you can imagine. Weighed it in as the lunker as we knew we didn't have it with the other fish.

18.25"+ large mouth tipped the scales at 1.96 lbs.  Rattiest bass I've saw.

I had a couple of questions answered and at the same time had some things reaffirmed. My first fish of the day did both regarding does catch and release work (which we all know is pretty much a fact), will fish stay in an area, and in Fall (whenever that’s supposed to start) fish start to put on the feed bag.
For some reason I decided to start off slow rolling a spinnerbait, and it got smoked by a big girl who weighed in at 4.8lbs to start the morning.

Later, when I was able to see the picture of that fish I noticed the “beauty mark” just above the anal fin. I remembered catching a fish with a similar mark not too long ago from the same spot. Checking my photos, I caught her on September 1st, on a crankbait and she weighed 4.4lbs. *So in a month’s time she put on .4 ounces and got to make a second appearance on Bass Resource.

I later grabbed a jerkbait rod with a 6th Sense Provoke (thanks @Bluebasser86) and put it to work. On a pause, my rod loaded up and began to pull drag as good fish began digging down. Fortunately, the big green fish stayed pinned thanks to some very sticky hooks and I was able to lip her to welcome her aboard. She weighed 5.2lbs and definitely like being provoked...

First week on the new job, and I'm already dipping out midday to chase green fish. lol

I had a hunch around lunchtime and it just wouldn't leave me alone, so I went to one of the spots here @Jermination and @TnRiver46, probably some other locals will know it from the background. They were going HAM on shad.

Kinda bittersweet day. Caught this little chonker, missed on a few wacky rig fish, and broke a rod tip (that I'd already fixed once, so I felt like I was playing with house money every time I used it anyway).

I love fall fishing.

Beautiful fish! I hate full moon fishing, If it weren't for Rock Bass I would have been skunked Thursday.

Just picked up a "new to me" rod from @Pantera61 off the Flea Market. Was looking for a longer jig/worm rod for those times when making longer casts, as my current 6'6" outfit seemed to be lacking at much over 40'-45' or further. Got the B. Hite Evergreen Combat Stick, 7'3" MHvy (RCSC-73MH). Took the new rod out to the lake this afternoon for a trial run and happy to report, the rod did exactly what I was hoping for. Yet another brutal front came through yesterday. A buddy at the ramp taking out when I was launching said they only caught 2 all day, and that I should have been there yesterday - lol. Fortunately, I was able to pick off 13 in just over 4 hours, so I'm calling it a success. Here's a couple...

I changed line on one of my reels after losing what would have been my PB Chain Pickerel last week. I picked up some Berkley Big Game 8# line but all they had was the green color.

I tested it out today in super clear water and it worked on Green Bass

Rainy days never disappoint. You get the water to yourself and the fish are already wet. 4.96# on weightless senko.

The night bite has been crapola for quite some time. Absolutely cruel. It's been either dinks or skunks, but mostly skunks. Lots of soft bites then spits, like they're keyed in on very small bait that they expect to vacuum in. Any resistance and they spit, so barely a chance to set a hook. They just wouldn't hold onto anything. Open hooks are impossible here still, and they wouldn't touch topwater for nuthin. But all of a sudden, just like that with the temp drop, the topwater bite is on and they're hitting baits like they mean it. No bigs on this weekend's jon boat and wade trip, but a few decent fish helped to wipe away the shame.
