Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

"right after the pause" makes you think a little

Between work and school just starting up I've been busier than a one legged man in an...nevermind.
Anyway, the last couple days I've managed to get a little time between class and work to hit the pond. I was also finally able to get my very first fish on frogs. They aren't giants or anything but the way they hit that Pad Crasher is almost addicting.

Here's a couple smallies I worked fairly hard for today in 20+ FOW.  Both caught on a 3.5" green pumpkin strike King tube dipped in Chartruese JJs Magic.  3.54 and 3.08 lbs.

After spending last night sorting through my tackle to get ready for my vacation on Cape Cod i was staring at my $1 Walmart spinner that ive  never used. Decided to hit my local lake at night right after the rain and got this. Had another one that dwarfed this one but my stupid ass tried to heave her up while on a small bridge. It was inches away from being landed until the line broke off while rubbing on the stone ledge. this catch barely takes away from the sting but what ever.

A TW shirt I don't have....

I find it hard to take pictures of nice fish . Seems I only catch the big ones when I fish by myself

Was a fun morning to be out and about....caught quite a few with this being about the average size.  Rock flats were the ticket early in the day with fish sitting in less than 4ft of water.

Slaunch...

I'm not gonna look it up so as to hear it from the horse's mouth, but is that a real word and what does it mean?

2.6 lbs. Really long with dark red gums. I think it lost some weight recently because the head was a lot bigger than the body. June bug looking yum wooly bug.

Although Definitely not an actual word,  I do believe this slang term  SLAUNCH was first coined by Mark Zona  (that's who I stole it from) & used to describe any rather Oversized Bass.  I'm not certain if it's a combination of Slob & perhaps Staunch.   Either way I think it sounds funny.

Bass anglers have a number somewhat bizarre and often kind of off the wall names for Big Bass; besides pig, hoss, & fatty there's . . .

  • beast, brute, monster
  • sucker, giant, dandy
  • sow cow
  • moose, toad, mule
  • whopper
  • Sasquatch or Basssquatch
  • chunk, chub, slob
  • big nasty
  • slaunch donkey (credited multiple times to Mark Zona)
  • Godzilla, water zilla, hogzilla or Basszilla
  • butterball
  • football
  • bucketmouth
  • Rumpletoadskin (by Sv Rider)
  • Hog Molly
  • biggun'
  • girl names: Nadine, Bertha, Mona, Jezebel
  • boy names: Bubba, Tyrone, Ned
  • big mama or big papa
  • Frankenstein
  • swamp donkey
  • swamp gator
  • grass monster
  • Big Mac
  • wildebeest
  • Big Mama Jama
  • hippopotobass
  • slobber knocker
  • chunky monkey
  • pole bender
  • behemoth
  • hydrilla gorilla
  • Jolly Green Giant
  • Toad Choker
  • humdinger
  • Slabber Jabber
  • Granddaddy
  • whale

Did you have that list queued up somewhere or did you type it out on the spot?

It's committed to memory.

I have no life.

:)

A-Jay

Look at it as dedication instead of calling it no life.

Thanks ~ But I was being funny. (apparently unsuccessfully I might add.)

I love being able to see how the bass are all different shades of green, white, and black depending on where they came from. Obvious lateral lines to faint ones. Another reason to keep at it. Gotta Catch Em All.

Got a really good one on a COLD morning in the Adirondack Mountains. Air temperature was 42°, very foggy and she crushed a Rapala Skitter Walk. Biggest of the year so far. This fish is responsible for the most aggressive, violent top-water strike I have ever witnessed. Caught, weighed, photographed and promptly released.

I finally have a fish worth sharing. Unfortunately I didn't check the scale battery (of course it was dead) so I don't know the weight.  Caught on Lake Kissimmee using black and blue senko. It was really hot and she didn't put up much of a fight.
