Dont you love it . The overcast day that was forecasted on Friday turned out to be almost completely sunny . They did get the mild winds correct .

After all the erroneous weather forecasts for years and years, everyone still watches the weather on TV or clicks it on the internet. It’s a vicious cycle

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

I pause to tie on a LV500 for weeds.  in the meantime I pitch out a drop shot to "have something in the water".  as I reach back for the other rod, I felt my dropshotrig, lean up against my shin. I grab it and haul back.  viola!!

it put up an epic fight.  I thought I would be bigger.  4lbs

Wise words - seems every bass I catch these days is on the bait I have tied on for that trip ? lol

Nice fish - they’ve been very scarce this year in my ponds.

Good thing I don't post pics on here. My hair is curly but I brushed it out in the shower the other night and it was to the top of my shoulder blades.

Nice one!!

Definitely small fish but the special part is that I caught them on a jig, not my best for the year but it’s helping me build confidence in one that I struggle with. I have already caught 2 4Lb plus fish in one day on a jig. 5/16 finesse dirty jigs canterbarry craw with a rage chunk amber and green, black flake.

Pulled a long overnight trip last night in the kayak. Not something I would have done if they'd have been even remotely close with the wind forecast. Somehow, 1-4 mph winds had small whitecaps rolling across the lake and pounding into the shorelines I was trying to fish after midnight, good times. Glad some fish were biting to keep it from being a total bust.

Went out Sunday to a residential lake I've only fished 1 time before and didn't have good results. Heard it has big fish though so I wanted to give it another shot. Water was way lower than last time and there was no grass so wasn't sure what to expect. I saw some brushpiles I couldn't see the first time so I  started fishing those with a big Hoodaddy. Caught several small to smedium sized ones and was running out of water and about to turn out of the cove but fired a long cast to one in less than 2' of 85* water. It was heavy when I picked up and a big one boiled out of the water when I set on her. It gave a heck of a fight, jumping clear out of the water and diving under my kayak. I've been in a long dry spell for big fish, haven't broke 5lbs since April, but this one jumped right past that into the 6lb club at 22" and 6.01lbs.

20220731-102113.jpg

I fished all around the little lake, never saw another over 2lbs. As I got back by the ramp and the brushpiles, I was for sure fishing them again. Switched to a homemade jig and fished through them with no bites. Got back to the shallow pile, long cast again, again resistance when I lifted, again a big fish when I swung. This fish got hung up bad twice, but both times it worked free. Got really lucky because she was barely hooked. This time it was just over 5 and 21.5". 11lbs or 43.5" in 2 fish out of 1 little laydown!

There was one more big pile by the ramp that I caught one out of earlier. I picked it apart with the jig, missed a couple and caught a decent one. Then my jig just disappeared on me. Another good fish went airborne and when it got in the net, I found out why I just lost my jig.

A nice 3.5lb, 19.5" to finish out the day. Not too bad having 15lbs or 63" in 3 fish in a few hours on a lake I don't know ?

Bites are slow and sizes are small. Started off fishing in Lake Woodlands (first time). At 200 acres it’s not huge, but substantially bigger than the ponds I fish. Was there for two hours and never got a nibble.

Went back to the pond I normally fish. Lake Woodlands is stream-fed so it’s not low, but the pond sure is. Almost a month and a half without any measurable rain will do that. Caught six total. First 3 and last one on a Zoom Z-Craw in California 420 and the other two on a blue/black laminate Senko. No other baits got touched. Had fun regardless, but I’m ready to perform a rain dance or sacrifice a chicken or something!

Whoa, Mr. 86!

I love your tagline, Brian: "Watching a slack line start running is one of life's simple pleasures."

Headed to my nemesis lake Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.  Couple little lmb in the weeds when we first arrived in the afternoon, then headed around the corner to some deeper water.  Was still thinking lmb and throwing a T-rigged Bandito Bug when I got a great bite.  It headed straight for the sky and a beauty smb threw my bug right back at me (pretty sure I also saw him flip me off.  lol).  I was both thrilled and disappointed as we’ve not found any smb over maybe 2# in this lake yet after many days’ trying, to the point I had thrown in the towel and just targeting lmb.  Went back out in the morning to the same windward shore area, and was throwing a Heddon One Knocker spook only a few casts when this nice smb hooked up from about 18ft. of water (no scale - 19.5” and I’d say a very honest 3.5#).  I feel like some of the puzzle  pieces are finally starting to fall into place on these pelagic buggers.

Nothing special but a upgrade lol, 1 dink didn’t take a pic of him maybe 12 inches and then I got this nice little 2.60lb one on a nichols mango 3/16 jig in pumpkin green with a rage chunk in summer craw. Funny thing was I looked down while fishing and saw it setting less than 5 feet from me. I was like now the hard part, to catch it. I slowly dropped it down by it and it swam off lol, I expected that much. About 6 cast later  I feel weight on it and notice my line is ever so slightly moving. Reel down and set the hook, fish on lol. we have 14mph winds with gust higher currently, not bad for a heavy legend extreme st croix rod. I was trying to get as close to the low end of the rod at 3/8 but was still a little under it. My met b helped out greatly here, wind not so much. I am definitely starting to feel more confident with the jig ?

The proof is in the thumb!

I took the kayak out to my local lake this morning and landed this 17"er on a wacky rigged black/blue Creme worm. Its now the biggest fish Ive caught this year, still looking for a 20"+ though. I fixed my Macbook over the weekend and can now edit videos again but forgot my GoPro, even after charging the external battery!

I grew up in Warren Co not far from Center Hill, Warren Co has the Collins and great Musky fishing.  Ive never fished Percy but have friends who do,Im hoping to make it to Couchville this year.

Fished a new lake in Ionia county called long lake.  Great day !!!! All fish except 2 came on a mega bass deep crank or a bass pro shop summer craw bull hog in summer craw color. The possible war mouth and another bass came on a wacky rig

I built my Bushido deep cranking rod last winter to do just this.  The bigger bass came out of 12-16 ft.  Carolina rig is becoming one of my favorite ways to fish.  After the third pike I caught on that deep-x 300 I started to get nervous and decided to call it a day.  While I still had it

Not my evening for bass.  Got about 6 casts in with a new hair jig I wanted to try and got bit off.?  Figured it was a pike, so I switched to a tube jig.  Caught one tiny smallmouth, then landed this joker and called it a night before I lost anymore tackle.

Went on a 3 day fishing trip with my business partner/best friend who has become addicted to bass fishing. We fished hard for 3 straight days and we were met with very active and willing fish every day. More decent large and smallmouth bass than we could count.

Topwater at dawn was productive around mid-lake rock piles. Megabass Pop-X caught a bunch of smallmouth of all sizes:

Came across some smallmouth that were herding a massive school of perch to the surface over 30’ of water. A Skitterwalk worked crazy fast over the school worked well until they dissipated:

Some decent largemouth came on frogs in the lilies and Texas rigged Rage Tail Anacondas in downed timber:

We decided to float up a small river, and had a blast with light tackle reeling in smallmouth up to 15”, pumpkinseeds and rock bass every single cast for hours. They were slamming Ned rigs, tiny poppers, cranks, in-line spinners and jerkbaits like they were going out of style:
