Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

Once spring time struggles passed, you’ve been on fire. Spring is for the birds, as well as people that launch their boat once a year

No kidding.  He didn't even change shirts from the day before either at the previous pond.  Just keeps going and going.  No wonder he's got the record for the most fish on one plastic.

Given the quantity and quality of the bass that @Team9nine has been catching, he's the duck and we're the measly rain. #honeybadgerdon'tcareandduckdon'tcaretoo

Lol - I do wear a different clean shirt every day, but I keep a flannel shirt handy when we go through these little cold snaps, like the highs only being in the 60s here several days back…and I like the pockets for carrying my gear.

Now that that is cleared up, today’s report:

Quick couple passes on a micro lake. First pass with a swim jig, good for four bites. Second pass with a finesse jig, good for half a dozen more. Most cookie cutter 2 pounders like these, but I did miss/lose a big fish that looked pretty sickly. Not sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing - lol. Some of those sick, dying fish get pretty mangy.

Thanks! Spring was for sure a battle but I learned a lot for next year. Summer night fishing is definitely my jam. I appreciate the kind words from everyone

After working all day, its nice to come home and catch a fish....was out there for like 10mins. Had to stop here because he ate my only worm I brought with me.

On the bright side, I got my clamp in the mail.....no more hooking through the gill slit.

Guess who LOVES Zoom Trick Worms in Watermelon Candy and really doesn't want the hook removed after he eats one.  I named him Bitey McBiterson.  He does not consider us to be friends.

I only got about 2/3rds of it back.  It was a clean cut where she bit it off.  Looked like I did it with scissors.  I was impressed.  It's a Spiny Softshell and they eat fish and insects so they must have a pretty good chomper.

Got a nice LM on the poor man’s ned rig. Got a redbreast, couple drum and a spot with black marabou jig. Also got a skipjack for future bait and the spot came home for the freezer. Kind of forgot to keep the sunfish but it would have been excellent. LM are not recommended for consumption where I was so he/she got a reprieve IMG-4351.jpg

RIP Mr Alabama Bass, that's what you get for venturing into TN ?

That's a really nice river LGM!

eta:   To me that doesn't look like a pure Alabama Bass.....do you have Kentucky Spots, or could that be a meanmouth.   The genetics of your fish are pretty much one of a kind, that area is like an ocean of species.

Fished from a friend's little red kayak for 2.5 hours this evening. I was pleased by the plumpness of the bass and caught 20 of them. I caught most of them on big Senkos, both black and green, either wacky or T-Rigged. Paddling back, I had a 19.25-incher hit. I heard it jump behind me and knew she was heavy. I photographed her twice, on the board and pinching her chin. Three times, I had what I assume were pickerel hit my worm in the weeds, pull hard, and cut the line.

There's no doubt it's "Katie season"......copious dark butterballs rolling across the counter like it's Thanksgiving eve ?

4th to last pic/fatster is my favorite, and that lake looks big, quite different than your normal places.

@AlabamaSpothunter, I was thinking ky spot, they are native here

Right on, that's really cool....go figure, everything in freshwater seemingly swims there ?

Sure you got Alabama's as well.   It's like the most beautiful Black Bass soup you could concoct.

I don’t think there are tons of Alabama bass where I live yet but definitely some. Lakes on the little Tennessee like fontana and tellico have a lot of them. They seem to radiate from the mountains

I didn't roam the pond like I usually do. The kayak was so short that it couldn't track in a straight line. I'd paddle on the right side and the kayak would turn to the left and vice-versa. So, I pretty much fished one spot. I started shallow in the weeds and caught nothing, which was no surprise since it was still bright and the bass weren't going to risk being seen by the raptors. So, I went deep and had a little luck and basically followed them into the shallows as the light faded.

I'm glad you get a kick out of those chubby bass too! They're funny looking, aren't they?

Playing that 19.25-incher in the dark was both exciting and scary.

Good job getting that clamp, @Dominat0r!
