To bad the bucket brigade wasn't there. Copping a squat on one of their bait buckets would be a priceless moment. 7 Quote

Super User Team9nine Posted June 17, 2023 Super User Posted June 17, 2023 Had a pretty decent bite today considering we were just sliding on to the back side of a high pressure system that moved through overnight, and a breeze that had already shifted to coming out of the north. The lingering cloud cover probably helped in that regard. Picked up a couple dozen today, along with another dozen last night when I went out to test a presentation that popped into my head. Was able to land the one big bite I got, a nice bass that inhaled a finesse jig on the fall that was cast right over the only well defined depth breakline in the entire lake. And for the curious; I’m wearing shorts, not jeans with even bigger holes in the knees, and it started out in the mid 60s today, so I grabbed the flannel again today to wear over my clean T-shirt (more versatile than a jacket) ? 17 1 Quote
Eric 26 Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 @Woody B Although I don’t drink iced tea I’ve had this happen to me several times reading some of the comments on here myself. @ol'crickety although this isn’t a direct response to your earlier post this is yet another reason why I at least find this site so appealing in that no matter what the topic the range of answers cover every spectrum from….and I’m trying to find the right words here? from serious to silly is the best I can come up with currently. Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted June 17, 2023 Global Moderator Posted June 17, 2023 Well, sometimes you get lucky and today that was me We were just sitting around the house today after work and about 6 pm I convinced my wife we should go for a boat ride, even though it was a tad windier than normal. She was driving the boat and knowing we didn’t have much time, tried stopping at a few usual spots and there were pleasure boats sitting in most of them. She stops at a random clay bank and I started working the RAD 1.5 squarebill and got a small LM, lost a decent SM that short lined it and I tried boat flipping while the fish was still bananas and he fell back in. Then I saw a kayaker down the bank we were fishing so I trolled to the opposite side of the river and cranked the rip rap. I thought I was stuck in a gob of milfoil and then felt a fish, then it jumped…….. a nice LM! Don’t get those often near my house and Ive hooked 2 in 2 days! It jumped several more times but stayed pinned, I had it with both hooks. Guess she wanted it! Ended up going somewhere between 20 and 21”. 20 Quote

Jmurphy87 Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 I got out this evening with the wife again, I caught around 10 or more dinks and she caught 5. I get back from my wading expedition and see that instead of fishing a wacky rig she has a finesse worm nose hooked oddly and tells me that is how she has been catching them. I am a smart man who doesn’t argue with success lol. She told me that she didn’t even get a nibble on my worm, a shimme stick in sweet tater pie. I was determined to make it work in clear water. I just fish with colors that I like now lol. 6 Quote

Woody B Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 The good news, I figured out how to set the timer on my phone/camera and take pictures the way @T-Billy told me to. Someone (I don't remember who) said I looked stoned in my selfies. I'm probably still look stoned but I'm not, and haven't been in over 4 decades. LOL The bad news, dinks only. I only fished a couple hours today. I managed to get 8 in the boat but only one was 14 inches long. I think the smallest one pictured is the smallest bass I've ever caught. It looks really small, even long arming it. (IMHO you're not a true fisherman if you don't long arm fish in photos) I caught the little guy in 30 feet of water on a C-rigged 10 inch worm. Most came on a bladed jig 10 to 30 feet deep. The bass seem to be scattered. The catfish spawn is going on right now. I suspect the cats have ran off everything near their beds. I didn't catch any cats today. That's good though. I'm not much for cleaning my boat, but I shampooed the catfish slime out of my carpet last week. The only thing I caught shallow was a small white perch. I'm no vacation next week. Mrs B and myself are taking the camper to the lake. The wifi at the campground is spotty. I'll post pictures, (or skunk reports) when we get back. 15 Quote

The problem with a tripod is the water I fish, and my boat. I'm usually getting rocked by wake boat waves. The tripod, and my phone would probably end up in the lake. I've got a phone holder on my console that my phones in. I've got another holder, just need to decided where to mount it for good pictures. 1 Quote
Super User Swamp Girl Posted June 17, 2023 Super User Posted June 17, 2023 @Woody B, that first bass actually looks enormous because that camera angle makes you look like you're 500 feet tall. @Dominat0r, nobody played the Green Monster like Yaz. Plus, he hit for power and percentage. That's like quality plus quantity in our world. 1 2 Quote
gunsinger Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 Busted a myth today. Launched my boat and invited a complete stranger, who was fishin’ off the pier, to join me. Make the first cast of my day to one of the piling sand set the hook on a 3lb LM. Didn’t have a bump for the next hour and thought, “They say it’s bad ouch to catch one on the first cast!” But, bad luck or not, I kept at it and boated over 15, including a 4.5 lb and a 6 lb. And the stranger I took along added 4 to the pot including his own 21.5”, 6 lb’er. So much for the myth. 22 Quote
