I placed an order earlier this year with JLS and was charged $14.00 for standard shipping to Illinois. But as far as I’m concerned it was offset with them including a Jack Hammer chatter bait with my order. The reel was the Tatula 80, the Abu Garcia came from Tackle Warehouse btw.

This site is becoming a Punji Pit for my bank account.....all you guys are accomplices to this! ?

I just can't fence sit any more on these prices, especially when I actually need a few new reels.

Whenever you're questioning whether you should buy a reel from a JDM site, go look at that same reel on Tackle Warehouse. It really becomes a no brainer when you see how much money you save. That's what I tell myself anyway. ?

Digitaka is usually a little cheaper but JLS does always throw in a nice JDM lure for free. I am happy buying from either place.

Very nice, so JLS is the place I read about the other day that includes a "gift".

Now the inner child in me is screaming " go with the free surprise lure" option lol

Awesome, and thank you guys for the info!

Yeah TW still gets on the tackle stuff, but wow the reels are a no brainer.

Did you get charged sales tax through Japan Lure shop?    I'm about to buy the Zillion SV TW.   Digitaka has it for 33,000y, Japan Lure Shop has it for 32,000y.....but you have pay through paypal.

No sales tax, but their only option is to pay with Paypal. The order I just placed was around $200 (tackle, no reel) and Paypal added 6% to that total for their conversion rate/fees. I found JLS's prices to be better than Digitaka's with quite a few things and the bonus lure is nice, but by the time you factor in the Paypal conversion rate (and shipping if getting a reel) it's basically a wash.

If you're getting a reel and tackle you can't beat Digitaka since the whole order will be free shipping. Be great if they carried the same things and had similar stock, but I find myself having to go to one for OSP and back and forth between them for Deps, Gancraft, Megabass, etc.

Thanks, the Paypal thing was a question I had.    Figured they try to collect tax.

I have two items saved for purchase from Digitaka once my Yule gift arrives (get money from the parents every year)

20 TATULA SV TW 103SH - ya, looking at getting into the T-Wing world

21 NASCI C2000S - I find that the 2500 size is too fast...I don't need 36IPT...the 28IPT of the 2000 is exactly what I'm looking for

I just wish more of the JDM type reels were available here...like the standard depth Daiwa spinning reels instead of the deep spool that they seem to assume all us here want.

@MN Fisher I couldn’t agree more on the spool depth. I’d be willing to purchase a spare shallow spool but not sure if it’s even possible here in the States.

It's possible - but the price for the spool alone is usually 1/2 the cost of a whole new reel...nitch market

Welp, it's official I just finished ordering the Zillion SV TW 1000 from Digitaka.

The tacklemonkey is not a singular thing, it's a collective group of wallet draining vampires known as the Bassresource membership base.......In a million years I would have never found out about taking advantage of buying through JDM.    Haven't gotten a new reel in about 15 years.....the first model Steez BFS rod/reel was the last big reel or rod I bought.   That along with a Shimano Calais are the two most tech advanced reels I own.   Hard to imagine a reel getting better than those.   I hope this new reel doesn't make my older reels feel their age.   It will be interesting to see how far reels have come in 15 years.

I didn't have currency exchange rates on "why I must buy a new reel" bingo card sadly though ?

Thanks to everyone who helped earlier in all seriousness, I feel like I scored a fantastic product for an unbeatable price.   I have this place to thank for that!

It's more like a virus, a perfect organism that infects everything it gets near to. It will beat you up, steal your lunch money, and yet we still want to be friends, we still go back for more!

Congratulations on your purchase, I think you will be happy!

I also still use some reels from 10-15 years ago and I don't think this new Zillion will blow your older reels out of the water, especially since you have top of the line reels. The OG Steez and Calais still hold their own with reels of today. That said, the new Zillion at its price point is just about unbeatable.

Dang these emojis being limited haha.   Thanks brother!

I mean $233 for a reel that would cost me about $375 locally or online is a screaming deal.  I need a new spinning reel, and my mind is already saying "better take advantage of those spectacular currency exchange rates"......dang you all ?

Very excited, and really appreciate all the help I've received.

Wow, Digitaka already sent me a tracking number.   I ordered last monday from TW and it's not scheduled to be shipped until tomorrow.

Anybody know how these points work for Digitaka?   I got 300 points for the Zillion.   I hope for my wallet it's not something like buy 4 or 5 nice reels, and end up getting another one because of points lol

Last week I ordered a reel from Digitaka, a reel from another online site, a tackle order from Lure Parts online, and a tackle order from Tackle Ware house. All were free shipping.

I have received all orders except for the TW order, which hasn't even been shipped yet.  The TW order was even made 3 days before the other orders.  What's up with that?

I'm going to give them the benefit of having a huge labor day sale and perhaps this is the result of that.      I'm also big into 2A stuff, and companies in that industry are notorious for having blockbuster sales at BF, and then taking months to finally ship out all the orders they receive in a like a 4 day period.

I love the selection at TW, and they offer things I can't get locally.   Great prices too when compared locally, but taking two weeks + to get someone their order is not a great way to generate repeat customers for sure.

My understanding is that each point is worth a Yen. So, if you buy something that costs ¥24,000, then add the points, the price decreases to ¥23,700.

Thanks, my wallet is marked safe during the great "JDM currency exchange storm"

I got my new Daiwa Millionaire CT SV 70H in. Just casting it some in the yard, I’m already in love with it. So is my buddy. He’s ticked at me because he wants one now.

Anyone used that Braid?

Found a few reviews from 2020 on TT. Not good ?
