Female bass anglers?

Featured Replies

How come I rarely, if ever, see any females bass fishing?  I've been fishing in Minnesota for almost 15 years now and I can count the number of female bass anglers I've seen on one hand.  I regularly I see them walleye fishing or pan fishing, but not bass fishing.  My wife sometimes fishes with me but outside of her I honestly don't know any females that do it on a regular basis.

Every time I go my wife goes. She's the best co-angler I've had. She's whoops me all the time. She sticks to her Senkos and pulls them in left and right. She's takes the bass off too!

One of my best friends and the one that got me hooked on bass fishing is female. She's a pretty good tournament angler too.

Yea my lady can Texas rig any soft plastic and take bass off herself. . She can also set up a slip bobber rig with livebait and nail some crappie. By herself.

If I get my wife around fish, there have been a few times when she has flat out embarrassed me, and only a few times when I significantly out-fished her. She is deadly in current situations :)

Fortunately for my ego, about 90% of the time when she is fishing w/ me it's just working on a suntan or reading time for her....

My fishes just as much as I do, competes in tournaments, and even competed professionally.

Here's her latest video on tackle organization:

There's just not a lot of girls that fish, wish there would be more that are into it. The more people who fish the better imo.

LBAA is Ladies Bass Anglers Association a group of professional tournament bass anglers.

We have the Gals & Guys bass club in SoCal where men and women bass fish together in local tournaments.

Aaron Martins mom was his team tournament partner. There isn't a lot of women bass fishing is true, but there are some excellent bass anglers who are women.

Tom

taught my wife to throw a texas rig years ago. she loves to fish.

I know one lady who catches 2 to 3 bass to my one.

Thanks to her, I'm a crackerjack with the bass net   :laughing7:

Hey Tom... guessing there might be a typo there!

My wife and young daughters also do surprisingly well when they're not swimming on the other side of the boat, reading, or just relaxing. Sometimes makes me wonder what the heck I'm doing with all of that tackle when they're killing them on grubs and senkos.

Live in Mississippi with a lot of retirees and I always see women with their husbands on bass boats bass fishing in our State Parks, Natural Forests and private waters. My lady not as much. Life is good.

My wife and daughter go with me on occasion, but the wife only enjoys going to a select few locations. She's just not fond of hiking through the woods to get to the water, but she can out fish me if she's in the mood to, I took her fishing her first time, she probably out fished me 2 to 1... 10 years later and I still get reminded of that

My wife fishes with me alot. The most important thing to do is be patient. The last time we went, i got schooled :)

I was none on that day as -- NET BI**CH :)

And id be quite happy if every trip was that way!

My wife used to compete with me every time.Lately she has had bad " luck" every time and now wont hardly ever go with me.I usually can put people on fish but for some reason it just aint happening with her!! Not lately anyway.

My 11 year old g- daughter outfished me and my son several times.Even though she usually caught lots of fish, now I have to bribe or make a deal with her to get her to go. ?

There's a few more in my neck of the woods. The last few state tournaments I've fished in have had a few women fishing as boaters and non boaters. I've been lucky to find a girl who likes fishing and is always willing to go. I think part of the reason you don't see more is partially due to too many ruined trips when they are young. If dad likes bass fishing, he wants to share that and makes the mistake of taking them bass fishing and spends 12 hours on the water despite the fact that their daughter is bored to death and was ready to give up after an hour. I also believe that the lack of either an all females tour, or professional female anglers plays into it. They used to have Bass'n Gals that was the females equivalent of Bassmasters, and there are some women fishing as co-anglers on the FLW tour, but girls don't have nearly as many women to look up to if they're aspiring to be a professional angler.

I tie a crank on for mine and let her throw away.I spend more time taking fish off her line than I do fishing. She's getting them in on a pink UL BPS rod too!

My wife fishes with me every time I go.  She has her own tackle, buys her own gear and baits her own hook.  She has even taken over the responsibility of running the Go-pro.  She does not usually out catch me, but she does catch better quality fish.  She even cleans them when we decide to keep a few for dinner.  On top of her, there are 3 or 4 women at my work that own their own bass boats and fish regularly.

My wife has become a great angler in a short period of time I'm more excited when she catches fish than me,on  a side note It's mind blowing to me that lure companies,tv shows or professional tournaments don't have women more involved like professional football and baseball do,talk about a missed opportunity.
