I never launch the boat without a spinnerbait tied on. 95% of the time it’s white. 95% of the time it’s a double willow nickel blades. 

They are my dad's favorite lure so I kind of adopted a love for them but I agree, they are a great search bait and I often start out with one tied on at least.

Appreciate the offer but I like to use a bulky trailer on them a lot of the time and I'm afraid that head wouldn't hold a trailer up very well.

Got a couple of War Eagle spinnerbaits for the 2019 season.

 

Spinnerbaits were never one of my confidence baits. Looking to change that this year.

I started and finished the year throwing spinnerbaits . This Excalibur finished the year strong by fishing over vegetation . If it made it over  without a bite I would just let it fade , that back blade would hesitate then flash  and the bass would often bash it . I had two new ones and wore one out . These counter rotating blades keep the bait stable . I dont know if any other manufacturers are offering counter rotating blades .

Spinnerbait and jig are always in the starting rotation. Overcast and windy, all the rods get one tied on.

Hmmm.  I don't see many on the water throwing them.  I have one tied on full time.  Sometimes more than one rigged up.  Any stores around me have at least one side of the aisle with inventory, so they must be popular.  It's proven fish catcher.

I love fishing them. Always have one tied on and the pike and pickerel hit them hard too.

Booyah makes "counter strike" spinnerbaits with counter rotating blades.

 

I used to fish them regularly.  Then pike kept ruining them or trimming me off so I stopped for a while.  I wised up and bought more durable ones made by Terminator.  I still lose a few every now and then but at least now they aren't ruined after one pike smashes into them.  Pike are a real problem up here and there is no shortage of those slimy aggressive things that are willing to attack just about any lure, especially a vibrating shiny one like a spinnerbait.

I always have at least one rod with a spinner bait tied on - and sometimes two on the deck. This past weekend over tow days of fishing I caught more on a spinner bait than jigs or plastics.

Thanks. Good info here. I’ve been fishing the cheap Wal-Mart ones and they work but sometimes I felt as if they should be working when they are not. Pretty sure it’s the blades not spinning like y’all have mentioned. Time to upgrade.

The first thing I look for when I see cheap spinnerbaits is the swivel . Ball bearing swivels are a must  to keep the blades spinning when the bait is stalled . I have found spinnerbaits on clearance as cheap as .25 with ball bearing swivels .

A previous PB of mine was caught on an old BPS Uncle Buck's spinnerbait. When I got into SB's I bought a bunch of different weights and colors and immediately got started catching fish on them. I still have several of them and caught that PB last fall. Cheap SB's can work and be very sturdy. Just change out the swivel for a good one.

While I agree the swivel is important so is the blade, it can be too flat to achieve proper vibration.

Spinnerbaits have always been great bass lures. I would rank them as a "must"have bait. Get some different types. All are well proven to work. Things come and go in fishing, but spinnerbaits are a long time favorite.

A big part of many peoples  fishing is simply making their  way down a bank and picking apart cover . Spinnerbaits come through brush extremely well and have a very high hook-up percentage . What is not to like ?

Bass fishing without a spinnerbait is like a hot dog without mustard, or worse, one with ketchup on it!

One of my best days fishing was with a Booyah 1/4 oz white spinner. Caught two 3LB bass and a 2' Pike.

For murky/low vis water I like darker colors and colorado blades as they put off more vibration than willow blades.

My tourney partner has this spinner bait with one chartreuse and one orangish/reddish colorado blade and he does really well with that color combo.

 

I like the chatterbait better in the low vis water but you may have a different experience

Unless your fishing at night there ain't but three color's for a spinner bait. White, Chartreuse and White and Chartreuse. Yes there are other colors but they don't account for much.  Popcorn in hand let her fly.

I just ordered a 734C before the TW sale ended so I'm looking to have a spinnerbait, chatterbait, buzzbait on board the yak at all times.

I go through spells where I forget about them, not sure why. They come through wood like a champ but one of my best days ever was a hot sunny Summer afternoon with pleasure boaters zipping by every few seconds and I was slow rolling it down a rocky point and was wearing them out. Some really good fish. So the text time your out there hopping a worm around and not getting bit try that spinnerbait out deep.
