Pflueger Presidents?

What's going on? Can't get my tried & true #6900 series anymore! I have 5 of them, from the #6920 thru #6950 sizes. Best reels I've ever used. Amazon no long carries them and cannot find a retailer that has them for sale. Sure would like to get my hands on a couple of more 20's for crappie!

Not sure if it’s the one your looking for, I bought a couple 20’s from dicks for $50. Great little reels for panfish. Not sure of the different models but they were blue presidents.

Are you talking about the old model that got replaced recently? (Maybe a year or two ago)

Looking at Pfluegers home site - seems they're upgrading quite a few reels. Model numbers will change with the upgrades. I've got a 6925 myself and it's a great little reel.

I bought one at Academy yesterday. Mine is the newer version, size 30 for bass fishing.

I have several Presidents and have had great luck with them. Picked up a size 30 for my oldest daughters boyfriend for Christmas along with a Lamiglass rod. The setup should cover him for trout, crappie and work as a dropshot setup.

Are you talking about the last generation? I prefer those over the current model.

Dick's has the current generation and there is a 25% off sale today! Great reel for the price.

Am I the only one who hates these reels? Every single one I bought had horrible line Lay

Last I checked Pfluegers website still have Lady Presidents on clearance for $30. They are old models I think. I have two and they're great especially for my budget. I got mine for $21 though :) Couldn't pass it up and the pink doesn't bother me, it just catches fish.

Those are the "Press20" models, which are the latest ones. I'm looking for the older #6920 model.

Like I said, I have 5 of them and have never had an issue with line lay.

I guess im not sure what the question is here. Of course retail stores don't carry the old model anymore if its been replaced. Good luck on your search!

I got one of the newer ones and it's been awful. I'd like to return it but the finish is flaking off and looks like I've been hammering nails with it even though I've hardly used it so I'll likely just eat my money and count it as a loss.

That sucks.   Try one of Daiwa's cheaper models.  I bought a Revros a few years ago as a birthday present for my brother-in-law (who is my fishing partner when I visit Florida), and he is still using it.  Hasn't mentioned having any problems with it.

I have 3 Revros, they're great, been slowly switching my dying Presidents over to them.

There may be delrin washers at the bottom of the spool shaft.  You can add or remove them to reposition the spool and help with line lay if need be.

I bought a new president size 30 on friday, and took it back yesterday at academy. I'm going with a Diawa or Lews spin reel too.  I was disappointed in the President. It felt rough right out of the package

im Surprised at all these responses. I bought a couple size 20’s this spring for me and my grandson and they’ve been great. We only use them for sunfish though about once a week. That might be why since they don’t really much hard use. I guess time will tell.

I bought one a year ago, my first President, and the bail spring broke within a month or so. I fixed it and kept using it, but a few months later I bought a Daiwa Legalis and I liked it so much more that I hardly ever use the President anymore.

Precisely what this thread is all about! For whatever reason, Pflueger has sought to "improve" upon a great product. They are following suit with Shimano apparently. Giving the angler less at a higher cost.

After the holidays, I will go on a search & destroy mission to find a couple of older $6920's. These are just fabulous reels. And from what I'm hearing for many of my sources, their "improvement" leaves a lot to be desired. Shame.

I have two 6935's and one 6930.  The 35's are going on 9 years old and have never had a single issue.  Very sorry to hear this.

I tried two of them and had the same issue.  I have had more than a few of other brands and never had this issue until I bought this reel.  Luckily I was able to exchange the first one and then when I had the same issue with the second, I returned it (this was the older design though).  Pflueger's customer service was not much help.  I will say this, they worked well (about a month) until they didn't.
