Would have to be either Brent Chapman, or the most famous that people only know his first name, Ned Kehde.

The only ones I can think of for Ohio would be Hunter and Fletcher Shryock.

Al Foss lures were made in Cleveland Ohio, innovative nickle plated brass pork rind lures. Lure collectors know what a Little Egypt and Oriental Wigglers are.

The Ohio Valley was home to some of the top precision tool & die makers in the country making lures, reels and rods.

Rick Clunn , Charlie Campbell and Denny Brauer also reside in Missouri . I caught a lot of  good bass on the Blakemore Charlie Campbell spinnerbait .

Rick Clunn is actually from Raisin City, California (near Fresno)

So are we looking at where the anglers are actually from or where there live now?

To this dumb Cajun you're from where your born not the many places you've lived.

Seems like most of the common Missouri people have been mentioned.  Here's one who is famous on the forums:  Mike Siebert, jig creator from Missouri.  ?

I guess Johnny Morris would count as famous.  If he has been mentioned, I missed it.

Quite a few from Arkansas. Mark Davis is probably the most famous, Jerry Mckinnis( wasn't born here but definitely an Arkansas), Steven Browning, Cotton Cordell, Larry Nixon, George Cochran, Rayo Breckenridge ( I'm not sure he qualifies as famous.... but he did win a classic.)

Forest L Wood who started Ranger Bass boats is from Arkansas.

My favorite pro Tom Mann was from Arkansas.

Several lure makers are from your nick of the woods

In addition to a few familiar pro names provided above by @ajay , MI was also home to one James Heddon, inventor of modern artificial lures and founder of Heddon Lure Company in 1902.

Legend has it, Heddon was whittling a stick by the mill pond near his home in Dowagiac MI. He threw the stick in the water and watched a bass blow up on it, thereby getting the idea to create and sell artifical plugs made out of wood.

There is even a Heddon Museum in Dowagiac, which I have never been to, but might check out some time.
